>> we're taking a live look outside and it is beautiful. i love the city at this hour. it looks like it's twinkling to me. although it is pretty dark for 6:17. it's that time of year. and a couple days ago you would have thought it was late spring or early summer. >> not the case. back to life, back to reality, jeremy. >> yes, exactly and we're going back in the other direction tomorrow with summertime humidiy back into new england tomorrow.
6:18 pm
but the numbers will be up near 70 degrees, so it will be anothr day that's certainly warmer than normal and more humid than norml as well. a lot of clouds right now. nothing out of those clouds. most of the rain has been westen and northern new england, but this is a drawn out weather system with the top end of it up through southern canada and then you follow that ribbon of clouds and rain all the way down throuh the ohio river valley. there's the storm system itself, popping off camera there. that low pressure heads for new england. during the day tomorrow and so that red l gets closer to us, so will the showers. i think eventually the humidity shows up as well. temperatures again are going to try and warm, but not quite as warm as what they had today in dcf or what we had yesterday. dewpoint temperatures low 50s now but humidity on the rise tonight. clouds out there, not much in te way of rain. a couple sprinkles possible. temps this even upper 50s and actually they will warm overnight. so by the time you wake up tomorrow morning, the temps will
6:19 pm
maybe a spot shower or sprinkle. so good idea for the rain gear. you won't need it all day. certainly in the morning hours. just a slight chance of a showe. sprinkles if anything. then as we advance our timeline. here come the showers and even some downpours and they become more numerous and widespread across southern new england so the evening commute looks like it's going to be loaded with ran and some downpours and that continues through the evening hours itself. as that low pressure is moving across southern new england it looks like it allds early saturday morning. so how much rain is on the way? i think for most of us we're talking at least a half an inch of rain in some locations. if you get two or three downpous in one spot you may end up with an inch of beneficial rain which of course you know we're still n the extreme drought. here's the drought monitor updated. little to no change, but again you have to chip away at is it somehow and this area of low pressure will do its part. moving across new england tomorrow night and then up into southern canada tomorrow morning and then it will park itself
6:20 pm
won't move much. that storm will generate a lot f weekend here in southern new england. gusts over 30 miles per hour eah day and that becomes an increasingly chilly wind. saturday morning the temps will be in the low 60s. it will be humid saturday mornig and then as the wind begins to crank saturday afternoon, the temperatures will settle into te 50s after lunchtime, after noon. the dewpoints will fade away and sunday offers a mix of sun and clouds cy in the mid 50s. see you at 7:00. >> and now time for 7 sports wih joe amorosino. >> we are coming to you live frm the garden where the bruins are set to drop the puck on their nw season here tonight hosting the new jersey delves and trying to improve poignant last season whn they finished a game below 500 n their home ice here at the garden. that was a major reason why they failed to make the playoffs fora second straight year. they come home riding pretty hih
6:21 pm
to start this thing up and for the first time this season we'll have patrice bergeron in the lineup tonight. the bruins best all around playr returning to action after missig the first three games due to a lower bodily injury. it will make an immediate boost for this time on and off the ic. >> he's one of the best players in the league and he's also goig to help our team a lot and give us a lot of depth so it's great to have him back. >> when you go three games without him and you see him coming back, it's a players, teammates, organizatio, coaching staff. you name it. hopefully the fans as well. >> celtics open up their regular season next wednesday here at te garden, but they will likely be without marcus smart. smart suffered a sprained left ankle last night in the team's final preseason game against the knicks when he rolled over justn holiday's foot. he's expected to be out a couple weeks minimum. >> off to a bit of a slow start with the patriots.
6:22 pm
injury. the absence of tom brady, you combine all that, he had one catch in the team's first four games of the year, but now as 7s trey daerr reports, gronk is bak to his all pro form. >> it's been a week or two, so i can't really recall the date, bt i've just been building up every single week. >> rob groncowski back up to speed, finally off the injury report and his pairing with tom brady looks better than ever. >> it just doesn't happen overnight eitr. that tom can put the ball in any position any time on the field. >> groncowski burst on to the scene in pittsburgh back in 201, a setting known to be one of the loudest on the nfl. >> we work on those things prety hard. we're going to need to really utilize this week because it's such a tough environment. >> i'm not going to say it doesn't get to you sometimes. sometimes they're roaring, but e prepare for those situations.

patriots will have to deal with. another bit of the unknown. no ben -- they line them up and he's not a one trick pony. they do a good job of getting te ball with the screens. we have to do a good job of knowing where he's at all times. >> he's not even the steelers tp threat, not with antonio brown n pace for a fourth executive 100 catch sean. trey daerr, 7 sports. >> there will be a very cool moment before tonight's game hee at the garden to commemorate the 50th and 80th anniversaries. reporting live at the garden. joe amorosino, 7 sports. >> thank you. >> 7news at 6:00 will be right
