way to school. >> is get out to lawrence. - - is life for us with the breaking details. >>reporter: adam, police and lawrence gave us an update. this 13-year-old girl was walking to school early this morning when she was snatched off the street. we have video from sky seven to show you of the area. the girl was walking to the south lawrence educational complex. she was walking in the area of box for the street. as one police tell us she was grabbed from behind. she on phillips street. that is where police tell us that she was abused in the worst way possible. for 2 hours. police just spoke with us in the last 10 minutes, they give us an update. here's what they told us. >> a courageous young person

when officers did arrive at some point, they determined they need to do a protective sweep of the property. they were waiting a search warrant, but they wanted to make sure they weren't in any danger. it's not unusual to do a protective sweep. they came across in plain view, some of the items she had described in her earlier report. that corroborated much of her story. >>reporter: that was police telling us how they were able to identify the 21-year-old angel matteo, this 13-year-old was crucial in describing this apartment. that's how they were able to locate the suspect here. he is now under arrest charged with several charges. police tell us he was out on an ankle monitor for crimes they have yet to identify at this

charges. will have much more coming up on 7news at 10:00. we are live in lawrence . 7news. >> raking tonight a suspected shooter in custer at the teenager is hit in his bed by a stray bullet. emily bookman, live in chelsea where the team came home from the hospital moments ago. >>reporter: that's right adam, that victim camehome from the hospital as you underneath his sweatshirt. he didn't want to talk about the circumstances of the shooting but this is what he had to say . how are you feeling? >> thank god for letting me stay a little longer and thank you for all the support y'all are giving me. >>reporter: his arrival home comes on the heels of a and arrest of a19-year-old by the name of tristian garcia. he is from everett. he was arrested in andover. police in chelsea say he's responsible for the violence

13-year-old juan lopez elgato recovering at mass general hospital after getting shot in the shoulder while he was sleeping in bed. >> he went in last night for surgery. they thought they could remove the bullet but they can't. >>reporter: wants mother takes us into his 3rd floor building this bedroom where the bullet went through the wall. you can see how close it went to his mattress. >> as a mother, it's obvious that i will get emotional and i feel tearful for me and my son. >>reporter: around 8:25 p.m. wednesday night when a group of young people gathered at boston park. gunfire erupted and at least two bullets help the chelsea home making his way through the house. >> he got off thebed and started running to my mom's room. he sat down because it hurt him. he's just yelling it hurt >>reporter: as family tended to

first responders lining the streets to honor the fallen soldier. his body left maine this morning coming backhere to massachusetts . >> there was a show of support every step of the way. jonathan hall has the story. >>reporter: on this gorgeous fall day, a red white and blue sendoff. over 180 miles of pavement in honor of army sergeant sean o'connell was the kid have a one of a kind. you can find people like this. he's that kind of person where you he can bring anybody up. >>reporter: the trip from central maine to the south shore in honor of o'connell who served three toursof duty in iraq and afghanistan dating back 13 years. police officers and firefighters line of the highways to pay tribute from lynnfield to woburnto wayman .

other companies across the state of military personnel . to honor that, we have to show that respect. >>reporter: his family appreciating the effort . >> just that he spent so many years in the army dedicated to his country. >>reporter: this soldier did not die in battle. his last tour was in 2014. o'connell's father told me he died while on a trip bear hunting. it appeared he died from natural causes. >> he went to sleep and never woke up in the morning. life on the line time and time again. >> i'm absolutely torn to the core. >>reporter: o'connell's friend - - told me they became boy have friends in 1990 after o'connell moved from dorchester. there was a nice tribute there from the electrical workers. will happen early next week.
