>> christa: we begin with breaking news o five young adults killed in a wrong-way crash that happened on 495 north in middleborough. this happened just after midnight. >> sarah: police are working to figure out what led up to this deadly collision. john cuoco is live from middleborough with the breaking details. >> reporter: we know that crash happened quickly. it was head-on, ening with one car in flames and five lives lost. >> sometimes fate overwhelms us all. >> reporter: state police

a wrong-way driver colliding with a car full of people just after midnight. they believe a single driver was going south in the northbound lane before hitting the car with four people inside. all five people died in the wreck. we are told they were young adults from massachusetts. >> a wrong way operator. the vehicle struck the northbound vehicle head-on. the crash impact caused the northbound vehicle to become engulfed in fire. >> there is no indication that time allowed for evasive action by the northbound motor vehicle operator. to avoid the vehicle traveling the wrong way. >> reporter: investigators are still searching for reasons as to why this person got on the high tway wrong way. they are also still trying to reach the families of those involved. >> i like to express our condolences and sadness to the families of the five young

last night. >> reporter: state police still have a long way to go with this investigation. they are hoping to release more details soon. john cuoco, 7 news. >> christa: grief counselors at a new hampshire high school today, they are offering support to students dealing with the loss of a classmate over the weekend. crews pulled a body from the merrimack river. it is believed to be a 16-year-old who disappeared on frid. police believe the teenager fell into a storm drain during the heavy rain on friday. victoria warren is in nashua with more. >> reporter: school officials say it is very somber at the high school today. and they say that they were greeting students this morning and trying to immediately identify those that might need some counseling. over the weekend, friends came together here at the spot where this teen was last seen. many of them trying to come to terms with exactly how something like this could

remembered as a gifted musician. >> he was a bass guitarist. loved music. >> reporter: and a good friend. >> he was a really funny. guy. he was one of my best friends. grief counselors on hand where jacob was a sophomore. he disappeared friday night. the fear that he fell into a storm drain during heavy rains. a body matching his description was found in the merrimack river on sunday. the news hitting his classmates hard. >> it is very somber. i was there assistant principals as the kids came. in some of the kids were visibly distressed. >> reporter: the family held out hope all weekend, even though surveillance video puts jacob at the storm drain and his belongings were found nearby. >> my wife has been in tears all night. her mother has been crying all night. >> reporter: a memorial growing. a friend writing messages to jacob on a pair of converse sneakers the 16-year-old's favorite's. >> it is just unreal. like, i can't even imagine.

upper 40's for highs. in fact, that 52 on thursday may be pushing it away from the coastline. that rain moves in quick enough thursday afternoon. a lot of us holding into the 40's once again as well. that will be the next time we pick up on some rain. we will talk more on the forecast ahead. >> christa: right now police investigating an alarming assault that happened at boston university. at a dorm there. investigators say that someone was sexually assaulted on sunday morning. the university also sending out an alert to students at this point, they don't have any suspects. two construction workers killed during a water main break on friday in a trench collapse in boston. they will be honored at the statehouse. they will be remembered during a commemoration next april. they were killed when the water main broke and then flooded the trench they were working in. that incident is still under investigation. >> sarah: the alleged drunk driver who crashed into an east bridgewater police officer called to court.

is facing oui and reckless driving charges. officials say he rear-ended a police cruiser saturday, seriously injuring the officer inside. as you can see, he was pretty banged-up from the crash as well. the two other passengers in the car walked away unharmed. that police officer has been release from the hospital and is recovering at home. >> christa: the election now 15 days away. early voting started here in massachusetts today. this is the time that early voting has been available. you can vote now until 4 at designated locations in your community. with so many undecided voters, the candidates are buckling down and focusing on the battleground states. today, hillary clinton is headed to one of them. new hampshire. right nearby. here is jennifer eagan live from manchester. where she is expected to be

the longer range here. a little breezy the next couple of days. upper 50's in a lot of the valley right now. 3450id's in the worcester hills i. don't expect these temperatures to move much more as we go through the day. maybe add another degree or. two that will keep us closer to 60 down through southeastern massachusetts and hold ultion in the low to mid-50's out into worcester county. we have had some rain this morning in sandwich area. into the afternoon, a completely different story: a ton oun of quick showers that worked on through. then in its wake, we have dry weather over the next few days. we will fast forward to thursday afternoon. thursday night. this wave of low pressure approaches southern new england. that provide us with more rain. >> we do pick any appreciable rain in the 7-day forecast, i would say it is most likely thursday afternoon and thursday night with some locations picking up half an inch to an inch of rain. now, by the time we get into friday morning, there is still maybe some rain. especially near northern massachusetts, southern new hampshire.

>> christa: right now, four people are still fiting for their lives. as police try to piece together the moments before this crash. investigators believe speed may have been a factor when a tour bus slammed into the back of a track or the-trailer early sunday. first responders found a huge piece of the truck wedged inside of the bus. >> the speed of the bus was so dig can't. when it hit the back of the big rig, the trailer, the trailer itself entered abo 15 feet into the bus. >> christa: 13 people were killed, including the bus driver. others were injured. four of them in critical condition. the driver of the track or the-trailer was treated for minor injuries. >> it seems as though most of the victims were unrestrained and therefore, were thrown through the air. and ended up sustaining facial trauma. >> christa: rescuers spent hours searching for the mangled metal in southern california in search of the victims. >> in almost 35 years, i have

>> christa: wild weather in lowell. we are hearing from a home owner. >> reporter: early sunday morning, mike and his dog milo were asleep inside their home in lowell. that is, nothing a big noise outside their front door woke them up. . >> 7:00, i heard this big bang. i thought a car went into the house. i get up. i see the two trees. knocking on the roof of my house. >> reporter: the two trees fell on the front lawn. leaving behind a huge hole in the roof of the garage. lowell police shut down the street for some time, worried that more trees could fall. >> the ground was soggy. the rain we had. >> reporter: the 62-year-old is glad he and milo are okay. he is now taking down the rest

hoping to be back in the house sometime by the holidays. >> sarah: new details on some red line trouble. service back to normal this morning after a mechanical issue forced officials to cut power late last night. the m.b.t.a. says there was an issue with the red line train at downtown crossing. firefighters are investigating how a train filled with 2,400 gallons of fuel and air: according to the globe, it took crews four hourses to clean up the area sunday evening. officials believe the train while it was leaving, causing a fuel tank to rupture. >> christa: police are searching for a suspect in a bank robbery in amesbury. investigators say this man robbed a citizens bank inside a stop & shop sunday afternoon on macy street. then took off with an unknown amount of cash. he is considered to be armed and dangerous. >> sarah: saturday's merrimack college, southern connecticut football game ended in a rage,

when things escalated. coaches and referees were eventually able to break up that brawl. no arrests were made. no injuries reported. >> sarah: trouble on the tarmac for an american airlines plane heading to logan. a couple boarded the plane well before the scheduled time. the couple managed to get on the plane two hours ahead of time sunday at philadelphia international airplane. authorities say the pair macked to get on the plane when doors shower been locked. they weren't discovered until boarding. american airlines released a statement saying "two passengers gained unauthorized access to one of our aircraft earlier this morning.
