the night team is live at back bay station tonight. alex? >> reporter: well the train wasn't totally against the platform. some of the cars weren't. so, these emergency doors wouldn't open. that is when passengers decided to break the windows. panic on the orange line at back bay station in boston. passengers broke windows and climbed out of the train. >> i'm going to open the door. calm down, i'm going to open t >> as smoke filled the station during the wednesday afternoon commute. >> i'm still shaking. >> reporter: pastry chef tracy taylor was on board. when the doors wouldn't open, she used a knife to smash a window. >> i took my scarf. this is my eight-inch chef knife. i did this. i'm also a certified black belt. and i attached it to my elbow like so. and, oh, into the window. >> reporter: taylor and the

as the bios ton fire department rushed to the scene. it was a combination of two fires that sent smoke pouring into the station. >> turned out to be a motor fire. in the process we also found a trash fire on the tracks. we extinguished both. >> transit police say the doors wouldn't open because the train wasn't up against the platform. >> the motorman made a conscious and, if you ask me, the proper decision not to open those doors because folks would have jumped on to a livehi >> five were treatededfor smoke inhalation including tracy taylor. she's glad it wasn't worse. >> the firefighters and e.m.t.s and everyone that responded were absolutely wonderful. i'm going home and i'm safe. >> a few of those who suffered smoke inhalation were taken to the hospital. everyone should be ok. and the mbta says they are looking into the cause of that

breaking through bricks on beacon hill. two people hurt in an intense impact. >> and tonight we have learned the man behind the wheel is an uber driver. witnesses say he crashed into a car and drove off before smashing into that beacon hill building. kimberly bookman is live on beacon hill tonight. kimberly? >> reporter: adam, unabomber confirms that this -- uber confirms that this man is currently driving for them. they are reaching out to this crash scene is all boarded up. it's left quite a mess and raised a lot of questions. an uber driver with a passenger takes out a wall and lands in the pantry. >> car flying up here doing like 70 with no brakes smack into the wall. >> this witness doesn't want to show his face but tells 7 news he was working off of grove street when he heard commotion. >> i heard a boom down at the end of the street.

car come flying up the hill. >> and coming up the street at a high rate of speed. it may have been a hit and run or something down on cambridge street. >> no one was at the home at the time the uber came barreling in. when the home owner did arrive, she had to deal with fire, inspection crews, a gaping hole in her house and power shut off. >> can you tell us what happened here? >> i really can't because i wasn't there. everyone's ok and we are happy. >> both the driver and passenger were alert and conscious after the crash and taken to mass injuries. fire officials meantime took great care in removing the uber, not wanting to make a bad situation any worse. >> as they remove it, the wall that separates the two were starting to buckle and come down and that it's also supporting the garage door overhead. we were concerned that the entire wall was coming down. >> and police say they are still investigating. so far, they have not filed any charges in this case.

of a wild crash in winchester. police say a truck plowed into a multi million dollar home. no one was injured and no one was inside the house when the crash happened. there was a mechanical problem with the truck. also tonight, another chilly night. temperatures dropping into the 30s. and now there's rain on the way and, would you believe, yes, even a few snow flakes just for some of us. and, jeremy is hopefully here to tell us it's not going to stick. >> that is correct, yeah. too soon for that. time. 38 in town. bedford at 34. hyannis at 33. wooster hills in the 20s. those locations most likely to see a few snow flakes tomorrow afternoon. some sprinkles may work up into metro boston early tomorrow morning. but otherwise, partly cloud skies. temperatures between 30 and 40. your morning commute will feature temperatures in to the upper 30s to low 40s. again, it's a dry morning commute, but there may be one or two sprinkles right at the

here it is tonight. moving through the great lakes with rain. there is a little bit of snow being picked up by the radar. western new york, western pennsylvania, it's on the move. it will arrive mid afternoon birkshires with wet snow. the rest of us, beneficial rain. i'll show you how much rain is on the way in a few minutes. >> all right. turning to a trail of trouble in marblehead. investigators searching all day for a man who exposed himself to a woman and tried to grab her while she was on a morni w >> reporter: adam, he hasn't been caught yet. right now the trail is dark obviously no one out here this time of night. but during the daytime, usually packed with runners, walkers, and people walking their dogs. apparently also filled with one man with other intentions. police flood a popular walking trail in marblehead searching for a man who exposed himself and tried to grab a woman earlier today. >> i find that sort of shocking because i have always thought this trail was very safe. >> the woman in her 40s was

near 114 at the marblehead salem line when a man, leaning against a fence, lunged toward her. >> she realized he was reaching out to get her. again, she pulled back. she screamed for help. he took off. >> the woman wasn't hurt and other people who were nearby called 9-1-1. the suspect rode off on a bicycle as police with search dogs rushed to the trail. >> the canine unit from salem p.d. did have a few hits down in the forest. but there's a lot of conservation land there. in the end i had a jump-start on us. >> schools were also notified of the incident. a private school with three hundred kids moved students who were outside back inside. >> we immediately went into lockdown. obviously the security of our kids is a priority. >> police say they will have increased patrols here this week and are urging people not to walk alone on this trail. the people we spoke with are taking it all in stride. >> bad things can happen anywhere. just got to be vigilant and be aware.

>> so even after a couple hours of searching this trail, that suspect did get away. but police do tell me they are working a couple solid leads. that's the latest live from marblehead. >> closely knit cape cod community coming together tonight remembering four college students killed in a tragic accident. two of the students grew up on the cape. they were killed monday in a head-on crash by a wrong-way driver on 495 in middleborough. that driver from fall river was also killed and the crash is the family of a connecticut woman lost at sea holding a memorial for her today. some family members didn't show because the case is still open. nathan carman and his mother disappeared during a trip off rhode island last month. he was found floating on a life raft eight days later. had his mother was not found. and is presumed dead. nathan says he still hopes crews find his mom. >> i am glad that many of my mom's friends chose to attend.

good time for us to come together and support one another. i wish desperately that my mom was rescued. i hope that she will be found. >> linda carman was 54 years old. nathan was a suspect in the 2013 murder of his grandfather, but was cleared. a final report offering disturbing details into the taunton stabbing spree and days leading up to it. according to the report, # diagnosed with anxiety disorder before he attacked people in may. he was described as manic and depressed but wasn't given any prescriptions for that. the report describes much of what we already know about the attacks that started in an elderly woman's home an ended at the pertucci's at the mall there. an off-duty officer shot him and the d.a. said it was justified. two people were both killed in the stabbing spree.

and heath was killed in the restaurant trying to stop the suspect after he stabbed a pregnant waitress. the election is 13 days away. donald trump back at it tonight campaigning in north carolina after stepping off the trail briefly to open his new hotel in washington d.c. today. then hillary clinton getting a warm welcome in florida as supporters serenaded her singing happy birthday as she turns 69 years old. tonight, clinton is trying to use trump's new hotel against him while trump claims it's evidence h grow. ryan schultice joins with us more. >> kim, tonight some polls show the race is tightening, donald trump is doubling down on his attacks as hillary clinton celebrates her birthday in battleground florida. >> we are going to win back the white house, believe me. >> donald trump fired up at a rally in north carolina tonight after a new fox news poll shows him now only three points behind hillary clinton who he hammered on health care. >> she's going to -- it's going

>> confusing and scary their pilot, one of them, pulled off the plane accused of being drunk. sky west scrambled to get a new first officer on the flight deck. passengers say police grabbed him just before takeoff. >> and they say it's all thanks to an alert t.s.a. agent who noticed something was wrong with that pilot. >> it was the 8:30 a.m. delta connection flight from rapid city to salt lake city, delayed at the gate after t.s.a. officers smelled alcohol on the first officer. >> we assumed with the local authorities there that it

and in deed, the first officer was, was drunk. >> within a few minutes, that first officer, 38-year-old russ duzak, was taken into custody. police say his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit. >> this is one of the areas where the pilots and all flight crew members have a virtual zero tolerance for impairment for any reason. >> sky west airlines operated today's flight for delta. it quickly brought in a replacement pilot. in a statement telling nba news sky westol the highest standards of professionalism and the safety and security of our customers and people are our top priority. the arrested pilot now on administrative leave. but darin farmer flying with his nine-year-old son calls the incident outrageous. >> could have injured myself, my son, or frankly killed us if the plane goes down based upon him just showing up to work drunk. absolutely ridiculous. >> it's just the more recent case of pilots allegedly trying to fly drunk.

in march, an american airlines pilot in handcuffs at the airport after failing two breathalyzer tests in detroit. he pleaded no contest. tonight, yet another pilot accused of trying to fly while intoxicated. so the flight was delayed for more than two hours before it took off safely with that replacement pilot. >> there's a new security team, better news out of our airport, logan airport. this team sniffs out trouble. the t.s.a. hosting a demonstration with a passenger sniffing dog. this black lab named jazz sniffing dogs. she's been trained to detect things on a passenger or in the luggage. >> we did our training at lackland air force base for three months. and then we come back here to low can and we do additional training to get jazz certified. so, it it's roughly between a four and five-month process before the dog's trained good enough to work here in the environment.

he? to be had. back through the southern tier of new york as well as pennsylvania. and that's on the move. so, tomorrow, other than a little bit of sun early in the day, plan on a mostly cloudy day and again there could be a few sprinkles early on at the coastline. but even that's isolated. the brunt of the rain holds off for metro boston until 4:00 or 5:00. as the storm system comes into new england, again, it will take on the shape of some snow flake and sleet pelts. wooster hills, birksheirs connecticut. this is predominantly a rainstorm and in terms of anything sticking, elevations above 1500 feet is possible. but the ground is still -- ground temperature is still running 45 to 50 degrees. it's a little early even though we are coming up on the five-year anniversary of the halloween an verse have i, snowtober. we won't do that.

precipitation in the wooster hills it becomes a rainstorm. beneficial rain at that although once again with leaves clogging the storm drains and a burst of steady rain fall late tomorrow night into early friday morning, there may be localized street flooding. i don't think it's flash flooding like we saw in wooster last friday night. it's not going to be four inches of rain. because this weather system is not tapping into anything tropical. but just be mindful of that if you are on the roadways about this time tomorrow night and very early in the day on friday. the rain will wind before 6:00 a.m. but this is how much rain i think is on the way. just about all of us will pick up an inch of beneficial rain and in some locations perhaps as much as an inch and a half of rain and again, rain, not snow. seven on seven forecast, friday, a lot of clouds. windy, low 50s saturday and sunday. temperatures in the upper 50s.
