there have been reports of a little about the of snow, worcester itself. most of accumulating snow western new england, inch or two of know especially at the highest elevations in the berkshires but even down through portions of the connecticut river valley, reports of accumulating snow on grassy surfaces. here is the storm system and this wobbles across new england and overnight with a chunk of significant rain. now in terms of the snow, just about done with accumulating snow in western new england because this way. boston right now 45. worcester 36. fitchburg 41. here is the storm system. as it gets closer to the coastline it'll scoop up moisture and pull that into southern new england. i do think there will be a couple of pockets of steadier rainfall after about 9:00 or 10:00 tonight. through very early tomorrow morning, there could even be a couple of thunderstorms along the south coast. for the rest of us it's just showers and downpours with most of us picking up an

downpours and the risk of a few thunderstorms, inch and a half likely by early tomorrow morning. we'll talk more about that as well as the rest of the forecast in a few minutes. >> adam: we'll watch this weather system and when we're not on the air, get updates and the track the radar on-line using our mobile and tablet apps. on to breaking news, a boston police on detail chases down the suspect in an attempted bank robbery. let's get to jonathan hall live on the scene withor jon. >> reporter: lots of excitement here in west roxbury steps away from the catholic memorial football field. here is the bank. it's the city of boston credit union. you can see a boston police officer who is right by the front door. the sign says closed. here is the story, just before 4:00 this afternoon, an armed gunman went into the bank apparently to commit a robbery. what he didn't know was boston police routinely do a detail here. there was a police officer

officer who surprised the suspect. he ran with a gun with a late ex-mask on, was chased down, tackle and arrested. so we have sky 7 over the scene. getting shots from different angles here. there are a number of employees inside the building who are being spoken to. there is a bang robbery task force which has shown up to complete their investigation. unclear at this point whether with any money. that is something the boston police are still looking into and we hope to get more information coming up a bit later. reporting live in west roxbury, i'm jonathan hall, 7 news. >> kim: also on 7 news, a fiery crash in milford. the car burst into flames after flipping right in front of a busy car dealership. workers raced to help but it was simply too dangerous and too late. dan hausle live in milford

dan. >> reporter: fortune boulevard is now open after that fiery wreck was cleared, but the first on the scene, some nearby workers who said they could see the hands of the driver sticking out. they did what they could do to help. >> oh, my god. somebody is in there. >> reporter: a helpless feeling from workers at a nearby car dealership who came running at the sound of the fiery yash. >> i heard a big loud bang and i looked over my left up in the air. and as soon as the car hit the ground it just burst no flames. >> reporter: jamie mcdonald says one of his co-workers grabbed a fire extinguisher and tried to help. >> tried to eng tick wish the flames but it ran out. we didn't know. we couldn't get close enough to try to get whoever was in there out. so we thought we should try smash out a window. jerry smashed it into the

was just about noon when they heard about a car driving fast and erratically about a block away. >> we believe we know who was in the car. he is on elderly gentleman. a local gentleman. so there is a question of whether this could have been a medical emergency. so we'll try to determine that as the investigation proceeds. >> reporter: the flames forced the car dealership employees back. sad they couldn't do more but satisfied they tried. >> there was somebody in. there son or, you know, somebody's family member was in the truck. >> reporter: the workers say the car had a veteran plane placement the name of the victim hasn't been released. police say this is lucky it wasn't a lot worse because there is usually a lot more traffic on the road and they're happy no one else was hit. dan hausle, news. >> kim: traffic trouble on the mass pike today. a person on the side of the highway struck and killed by a tractor trailer in warren.

state police shut down the eastbound lanes of the highway and authorities say the person who was killed was outside of their car near the breakdown lane when they jumped into traffic. >> adam: burning questions over a smoky squire at back bay station. passengers taking desperate measures to evacuate when their train started to fill up with smoke. city leaders calling for a change. steve coop ser live at boston's back bay station to tell us more. >> r good. here in the back bay you can see people are coming and going dodging the rain drops but there is a lot of frustration from city leaders. not so happy with the t.tonight. >> it's a black eye for the mbta. >> reporter: the images captured on cameras have gone viral now. panicked passengers busting out windows on an orange line train scrambling to safety at the height of last night's commute.

the mayor. just your reaction to see the -- >> it's scary, i would be scared. if i was on the train, my mother who is an older person, my mother is not going to be able to climb through a window. >> reporter: the t.says the smoke was result of a motor that overheated which also according to fire officials touched off a trash fire on the tracks. >> unfortunately, this has been another in a string of disappointments with the service that the t.has provided. >> reporter: boston city counci says the back bay station is part of her commute. >> we're past the point where this is necessary and it really needs to be a top priority. >> reporter: the mbta board has approved billions of dollars in improvements which includes replacing the aging fleet on the orange and red lines. unfortunately the governor told us today that is going to take sometime. >> if i could wave a magic wand so folks in springfield

it was a courtroom, not a classroom for junior alec cook after the list of charges he faces for allegedly sexually assaulting fellow students grew to 15 with prosecutors saying there could be more. >> based upon the stipulation of the parties, ordered cash bail in amount of $20,000. >> reporter: after a woman said cook strangle and repeatedly raped her other female students have come rw assaulted them, too. >> she saw him in news coverage, and thought back to what he did to her and now inappropriate it was and felt compelled to come forward and explain what happened. we're glad she d. she is very brave. >> reporter: cook's attorneys say their client is a 20-year-old business major with no criminal history. >> our client is a kid. he is scared. we're worried about his safety. >> reporter: cook remains

bail then he has been ordered to stay away from the campus. cook didn't make a statement. some of the aedge willed incident are made up and the other encounters were consensual. jadiann thompson, 7 news. >> kim: we're following breaking news from new hampshire. londonderry police are searching for this person in a possible abduction, take a look. police tweeting out this photo of a suspect and a picture of a vehicle a short time ago, there is the vehicle, a civic hatch back. police say do not approach the man or vehicle. they're not giving details why but they feel that would be putting your safety in danger. if you are see the man or the red car, you are asked to call police. it's londonderry police in new hampshire, searching for this person in a possible abduction. we'll continue to follow this breaking story and

we get rid of the rain early in the day. weekend looking ahead, milder, temperatures should jump back to where we should be in the afternoon. numbers will be in the mid and upper 50s. we haddie snow out in the berkshires, dalton, i played golf on this golf course with that guy right there. mike, he is the greens keeper out. there the golf course super. i say, dude, snap a picture when the snow sticks and sticking to the course more than the in elevation. that is an you awesome course. the earliest the city has seen measurable snow, on the 18th. 2009. earliest we've picked up an inch of snow in one day, october 29, 2005. we are approaching the 5-year anniversary of snow

performs. peru, mass, i think had 32. not a repeat this go around. 40s now, the city at 45. norwood 45. we have an east wind. so when you look at that water 57, that east wind takes the milder air and shoves it inland. that is snow flake kryptonite when you have that east wind this time of year. almost impossible to have snow at the coastline although it can happen. it did five years ago. here is where but even with that said, that cold air is beginning to take a beatback from the east and southeast wind. for us low pressure system gets closer to us, the rain will intensify. later on this evening and overnight. 7:00 tonight again greens and yellows for you, no concern of pink or purple but those yellows are pockets of the showers. downpours, perhaps even a few thunderstorms along the south coast. very late tonight and early

boston but locally heavy rain likely later on tonight in the city to early tomorrow morning. 6:00 am. if that is your commute time rain will wind down but the brunt of the storm is over and at 9:00 rain is shifting up across southern new hampshire as well as the mid coast of maine. so how much rain is on the way? i think we're all going to get a healthy drink of water. about an inch of rain which is great for the drought. the concern is that the storm drains have leaves in them so the ones that still overnight tonight and tomorrow morning could lead to localized street flooding, there may be large puddles on the early morning commute. the amount of rainfall since the first of september, worcester 9 inches of rain about half of that falling last friday night. that was a little too much in a short amount of time. boston we picked up about 4 inches in the month of october alone. that is most rain we've seen in month since february. 7 on 7 forecast, weekend, a lot of clouds on saturday. sunday a few isolated
