a week and a half until election day and hillary clinton's e-mails are once again in the spotlight. f.b.i. director james comby sent a letter to congress today stating that new e-mails have come to light recently that have promised investigators to take another look at hillary clinton's use of a private e-mail server while secretary of state. federal law enforcement officials tell the "new york times" that the new e-mails were found on seized electronic devices belonging to anthony weiner and humana abadein as feds illicit at the messages allegedly set to a girl north carolina. director comby's letter refers to e-mails that have come to light in an unrelated case. but we have no idea what those e-mails are and the director himself knows they may not even be significant. clinton arrived shortly after the new f.b.i. investigation came to light but didn't mention the new probe. instead she focused her message on getting out the vote.

young people voting, more people of color voting. >> reporter: one federal official telling the times there were more than 1,000 new e-mails. the state department said it would work with the f.b.i. on the investigation if asked. we're at the point where we're trying to figure out what these e-mails even pertain to. whether they are relevant to her time as secretary of state. can't make any assumptions at this point that they are but they may be. >> anchor: clinton's campaign said they are confident this will not produce any cosi f.b.i. concluded back in july. clinton does have several more campaign stops tonight but no word if she lance to address in new appropriate. live in the control room, at the cap out oh, 7 news. >> anchor: trump and republicans with lots to say about this. dan hausle live in manchester where trump spoke earlier this afternoon. dan? . >> reporter: well ad-libed this late edition of the speech. after tense minutes of talking about it he said the rest of my speech will be ready boring.

were no serious things done. but how does it get much more? but that was so obvious. >> reporter: trump also met with a small group of advocates against addiction here in new hampshire. but even then, admitted news of the day might overshadow that issue. trump even saying election might not be rigged after all. this was a grave miscarriage of justice that the american people fully understood and it is is about to be corrected. although he is running a bit late trump said he is going to stay with all of his events including a trip to maine now and then cedar rapids iowa tonight and phoenix, arizona tomorrow. you can bet his staff already working to edit his speech to make best use of the news of the day. live in manchester, new hampshire, dan hausle, 7 news. >> anchor: so how big of a
5:07 pm
election? our political editor andy hiller is here with his instinct. kim, in any other campaign this would be the october surprise that could change the outcome of an election that's just days away. but this campaign isn't like any other and, therefore, whether you a democrat, republican, or independent voter you shouldn't be surprised. there has been a big question about honestly hanging over hillary clinton ever since her unauthorized e-mail server was discovered clinton appeared to put it behind her when f.b.i. director james comby announced this summer she should not be prosecuted, even though she was "exceedingly careless handling classified material." that might have ended it, but then there was a wave of wikileaks, thousands of hacked e-mails to her from hillary and her top staffers and now the "new york times" is reporting the new e-mails were discovered as pat of the probe into disgraced former congressman

5:09 pm
runway but we're so grateful. it seemed like the first responders were literally around the airplane before it came to a rest. >> anchor: the ntsb now investigating that landing and says they are interviewing other pilots that landed their planes in the rain last night without any problems. determining the point of touchdown will be key to this investigation. it's no secret that many airports landed ahead of this airplane and did so successfully so we'll want to find other crews ahead of them to find out if they had any difficulty stopping their airports on this runway. >> anchor: pence said he won't taking any time off the campaign trail because of this. >> anchor: and there is more news today. in fact in just a few hours from now massachusetts drivers will have open roads on the pike. that means you no longer have to stop to pay a toll but this switch to an electronic system could take a toll. traffic patterns will be undergoing changes and delays
5:10 pm
live at the allston brighton tolls to tell us more. kim, there will be three phases to the project lasting a little more than a year. phase one lasts about three weeks and it will cause the most disruption. here is what's going to happen. there is toll booth. they will begin to demo it and they will work on the middle sexes first so they can get lanes flowing through the middle by thanksgiving. they say no pain, no commuters especially over the next few weeks as crews begin demolishing the state's toll booths. the work begins in the morning. but the state promises the gains will be considerable. it will be as though we never had tolls on the massachusetts turnpike. that's why we are confident we are going to see a safer pike and more convenient pike, a pike with fewer fender benders, a pike where people are burning less gas and emanating less
5:11 pm
hurts traffic and putting 23 construction zones on 132 plus miles of roadway at the same time is going to have its challenges. >> reporter: mass highway is asking people to act as if there with a snowstorm every day, leave early, car pool, try the commuter rail, but no extra service is being added right no. we will be monitoring the situation on the commuter rail around if we see crowding we will work with our commuter rail provider to increase coach seats if we need to. >> anchor: for those that don't have easy pass transponders you on-line or go through a call center for a while. those are going dark. we must begin to shift data and account information to ez drive mass so to accomplish that the ez pass call centers will go down. >> reporter: we found people lining up to get them at ez pass customer service centers. they will have expanded hours this weekend. these people are hoping that once all of the construction is complete by new year's day 2018
5:12 pm
will be easier. once the toll booths are taken down, yeah, i mean, as long as have you one traffic should move it is it will be faster i think. >> reporter: really? i hope. >> reporter: there is always hope, right? people who don't get these ez pass transponders will get bills in the mail at i higher price. cameras will take a picture of your license plate but again there is a six month grace period so as long as you sign up r lower price again for six months. live in allston at the tolls, jonathan hall, 7 news. >> anchor: after a frightening ride that ended with a car crashing into a beacon hill butting an uber passenger is speaking to 7 news. she was a passenger in that car that slammed through the brick wall. steve cooper is live in boston to tell us more about what she had to say. steve? what a ride this was. adam look at the gaying hole behind us boarded one plywood as you mentioned tonight we are

5:14 pm
7 accidents over the past three decades. despite her injuries and recovering at home now, she says she is just thankful she is alive. it's not life-threatening but i have never seen my life flash before me the way it did yesterday. that's for sure. >> reporter: while she continues to recover from bumps and bruises at home in new jersey tonight, boston police are telling us that their investigation into the cause of this crash is ongoing live on beacon hill, steve cooper, 7 news. >> anchor: still to come this evening, world series excitement moving to chicago for the first time in decades hopes are high at wrigley field and we'll head there live when we come back. >> anchor: at 5:30 the wife of a millbury police officer facing charges accused of faking a break in at her own house. >> anchor: and three years after the attack at the finish line a marathon bowling survivor gets back some of her belongings

and just kind of a cool, raw dank evening with temperatures in the mid 40's as this storm peels out of here. and there is a little narrow window of opportunity for dry weather. it's through new york and pennsylvania but already that will close from this weak storm system which will quickly move across the northeast the next couple of days. it will not be a repeat of what we are dealing with now so a lot of clouds tomorrow afternoon and as this weather system passes through southern new england late tomorrow afternoon, there may be a few then on sunday much of the same. sun in the morning, clouds in the afternoon and a random shower possible on sunday afternoon but both weekend days are mild. then i think even into monday lots of sunshine with temperatures on monday heading near 50 degrees. bri eggers, she just put this in the weather system. that's a snazzy graphic. halloween forecast temperatures monday evening in the upper 40's. see you at 5:30. >> anchor: still ahead we will have the latest on two breaking
