arizona, trump has a five-point lead with less than a week to go. and in florida, clinton is leading by two points. a month ago, it was trump who was up by three points. further out west in nevada, donald trump leads in that battleground state. 49% to 43%. klinon had the lead there two weeks ago. and in pennsylvania, hillary clinton has improved her lead there. she has a four-point lead ahead of donald trump. she was two points up a month ago. >> sarah: a record turnout of early voters yesterday. more than 2,000 people voted at city hall as of 7:30 last night. what officials believe is sa new record. they think the warm weather drew the crowds out. since early voting opened last week, more than 33,000 people have voted. tonight forecast at 11:00, we will have the latest 7 news. >> umass-lowell poll. we are looking up the numbers in new hampshire for the presidential race as well as the senate race that could shift the balance of power in the nation's capital.

exceed half an inch. then south of the pike, probably going to see about a tenth of an inch. this isn't a huge soaking rain event. and then as we head into the overnight hours, things are clearing out. and tomorrow, the cooler day and windier day. this afternoon, kind of one of those funky days where thition our north are in the 50's. but then south of the pike, down along the cape, temperatures are on the warm side. in the mid to upper 60's. depending on where you are, that really makes a big difference in the temperatures for today. tomorrow, though, we are taking off about ten degrees more on the forecast coming up. back to you guys. >> christa: meantime, a triumphant return to chicago this morning for the new world series champs. hundreds of cubs fans turned out at wrigley field to welcome home the champions. they won game seven in dramatic fashion last night. >> it's over! the cubs have finally won it all! >> reporter: i mean, it had to happen this way. game seven. they clinch it in the tenth inning, doing something that

57 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. so depending on where you are today, up across southern new hampshire, that is where temperatures are in the low 50's. and then down along the cape, in the upper 50's. new bedford sitting at 65 right now. today is one of those days where we have a big spread in the temperatures. depending on, you know, where you are. we are also watching a lot of that shower activity. right now, a lot of it is off to our north and offer to our west. it will move in as we head into this afternoon. in the next couple of hours here. probably smart to have the scattered showers will be light in nature, though. not expecting downpours. see all that heavier rain. staying to our north across vermont and new hampshire. where you see the yellow and the orange, that is the heavier stuff. north of the pike, is where i think we will see the most rain. south of the pike, i do think the rain will be more isolated in nature. as we head into this evening, you could see a stray isolated

things clear out. tomorrow, we wake up to cloud cover. by lunchtime tomorrow, the sunshine is back. tomorrow is also a cooler day. all said and done, rain totals, not looking too impressive with. this although we do still need all the rain we can get. as i mentioned, tomorrow's breezy and a cooler day. that northwest wind going to gust anywhere from 20-30 miles per hour. throughout the day tomorrow. so it will be a little blustery out there. by saturday morning, that is finally when those winds will start to let up. so the christa was mentioning, temperatures today on the warm side. in the low 60's. but tomorrow, we are taking off about ten degrees, staying there saturday and as we head into your sunday as well. and normal highs for this time of year, mid-50's. we will be below that for the next couple of days. also, a note for the weekend. daylight savings time ends as we head into saturday and sunday. so what that means, sunday's sunset going to be at 4:30 and the sunrise going to be right

coming up. back to you guys. >> christa: all right. happening today: the retrial of gary lee sampson continues in boston today. kris anderson has more on what's happening. kris? >> kris: jurors heard a confession made by gary lee sampson in which he stated he tried to turn himself in and hated the things he had done. defense lawyers say the convicted killer suffered at least a dozen head injuries throughout his life. arguing those could have played a part inhe killing three men, including two massachusetts men in 2001. he was sentenced to death two years later. the ruling was thrown out back in 2011 due to juror misconduct. these court proceedings, though, have reopened old wounds for some victims' family members. . >> the flood of memories coming back. we are going through this again. i still don't understand why. it is just hard. for all of us. we have been through this already. it's been 13 years now. since he has been convicted.

started. so are police. they are asking anyone with any information to contact the department. s in derry, new hampshire, 7 news. >> sarah: a car going up in flames after a wild wreck on the road. the driver says he was trying to swerve around a deer before slamming right into a tree. nicole oliverio has the story from lester. >> reporter: an s.u.v. bursts into flames after the driver swerves to avoid hitting a deer and ends up smashing into a tree. >> this gentleman, you know, he was himself. he made a spur of the moment decision. and he is alive. >> reporter: that happened on baldwin street yesterday afternoon in leicester. a deer ran into the road, causing the driver to lose control and hit the tree. the car immediately burst into flames. but the man behind the wheel managed to escape. a witness driving by called 911. >> very calm. very come posed. told us immediately that the car was on fire and the gentleman had gotten out already. >> now only the shell of the

involved were not wearing body cameras at the time. >> sarah: authorities say two men were gunned down in iowa in ambush-style attacks. now we are learning the alleged shooter has a history of racially charged confrontations. investigators continue searching for answers after two iowa police officers were found forecast fatally shot in their vehicles at separate intersections in the des moines area early on wednesday. the first was discovered just after 1:00 a.m. about 20 minutes later, a intersection less than two miles away. he died a short time later at a nearby hospital. >> it doesn't appear that either officer had an opportunity to interact with the suspect. fns it doesn't look like there was an exchange of conversation. both officers were seated in their cars. f and were shot while they were sitting. >> reporter: 46-year-old scott michael greene was taken into custody after a 7-hour manhunt. >> he was just walking down the road. flagged down a dnr employee.

officials in mississippi think someone deliberately set a church on fire and vandalized it with pro-donald trump graffiti. police say someone spray-painted vote trump on this historically african-american church in greenville and then set it on fire. investigators say they have a person of intrefs in the case. and the former congressman anthony weiner is reportedly in rehab for sex addiction. according to the "new york post," his treatment prohibits cell phones patients by gender. he will likely face one on one therapy. weiner has had several controversies. at least one of them involving a minor. >> sarah: now a major recall involving the huh mid fires. fire concerns are forcing companies to pull the devices off store shelves. the u.s. consumer product safety commission is recalling almost 3.5 million mu hid fires. they can overheat and catch on fire. they have been sold under
