latest 7news umass lowell poll. we're looking at the numbers in new hampshire. important for the presidential race. >> all right. let's get to your forecast right now. some afternoon rain moving out. wind and cooler temperatures, though, now making their way in. let's check things out with chif meteorologist jeremy reiner. >> this cool front moving throuh southern new england earlier ths afternoon with the showers and a little first of some steady rain about 2:00 or so. shower activity. that's the actual cool front. and sometimes you find that cool air right along the front and at other times like today it kind f lags. still relatively mild out there. 50s and 60s. as you move up into northern new york and northern new england. that's where you find the cooler air. not much in the way of rain. most towns a tenth of an inch or less. south of the pike before the front comes through, here are te cooler numbers and then they do

northern new england. so overnight tonight we'll havea lot of clouds out there and certainly cooler than last nigh. temps tonight heading for the middle 40s and then through the day tomorrow back into the sunshine. not cold, but certainly cooler than today. temps tomorrow will head for the low and mid 50s and will contine the cool down for the weekend. i'll pick up the story from thee in a few minutes. >> also on 7, drivers will be dealing with a major roadblock over the weekend on route 128. who recognizes that stretch of road? well, traffic is going to rerouted while crews work to demolish the needham bridge. it's already tough getting aroud there, so this could be a major traffic headache. 7's steve cooper live in needham with details on the detours. >> kim, buckle up if you're headed this way this weekend. the old bridge as you see it behind us, take a good look because it's about to go away, but to make that happen, work crews will have to clear one final hurdle this weekend.

>> slager's shooting death of scott in april 2015 was captured on dramatic cellphone video that stunned the nation. the officer firing eight shots s scott ran away following a traffic stop for a broken taillight. it also shows slager allegedly moving evidence closer to scotts body. >> in the opening statement thursday prosecutors pointed out to the jury of 11 whites and one black that the video didn't the shooting and contradicts muh of slager's official report. >> his attorneys say they'll shw slager acted in self-defense and that scott was responsible for escalating a routine traffic stop.

shooting, local leaders includig the naacp have pleaded with the community to remain peaceful no matter what the outcome which could mean life for slager if he's convicted of murder. >> in the newsroom, i'm ryan schulteis. 7news. >> the suspect who ambushed and killed two iowa police officers now charged with murder. scott green was charged with two counts of first-degree murder today. we've also learned a judge reportedly told the suspect to moved out of his mother's h court documents show the suspect physically and financially abusd his mother. she filed a restraining order against him in october. the incident happened just after 1:00 in the morning. first in where he shot and killd another officer in des moines 2 miles away. he turned himself into police hours after the attack and was sent to the hospital. today investigators found a gun in a wooded area which they believe is the weapon used in te

moines sergeant anthony beninio. and urbandale officer justin martin. he had been with the des moines force since 2005. >> new details now about a deady bus crash in baltimore. the department of vealing says the driver of the school bus was not authorized to drive a commercial vehicle. they say his medical certification expired in august and the agency hasn't received n updated one. the driver along with five othes died with into a commuter bus on tuesday. >> two u.s. service members have been killed in battle in afghanistan. nail -- nato said they died whie fighting the taliban. we know two other service membes were injured as well and 26 afghan civilians also died. >> a set back in the uk's exit from the european union. it could mean serious delays in the process. the court ruling the prime

next week. showers are moving along at a good clip and nothingly overly heavy or contained downpour or anything like that. most towns picked up about a tenth of an inch or less. there's one little ribbon on the south shore that will continue o move south. that's the cool front that's slightly cooler air. i don't want to over sell this cool front that's moving throug. and no way to over sell this. not much rain, but at this stage of the game we'll take what we can get. in fact when you go back to running pretty close to where we should be for september. in fact out in the worcester hills we had the one friday nigt where we got too much rain in a short amount of time. the city of boston is a little below normal. the good news, the drought monitor has been updated and the red area indicating the extreme doubt has been peeled away. still a large area, boston, merrimack valley, north shore. out into the worcester hills.

headway in that drought. it might take several months wih at or normal precipitation to finally stop showing that map. >> temps, here's the cooler air begin to go reveal itself behind the front. you still have temperatures running into the 60s. from this area of low pressure that will head up into northern maine and bring the cool front through over the next couple of hours. so it is cool overnight tonight. we were in the 50s last night and this morning in the six. tomorrow morning 44 to -- 44 to morning this week, but cooler compared to this morning. then for tomorrow, mix of sun ad clouds, a cool breeze. temps between 51 and 56. south of town, mid and upper 50. north of town, partly sunny skies. temps will be heading for the lower to middle 50s. upper 40s to the low 50s with a mix of sun and clouds. and out on the cape and the islands, nantucket at 57. there's your weather map for tomorrow. now on to the weekend.
