hole robbery suspect. that's when the man opened fire on the officers. the scene still very active as police look for more evidence. also breaking as you mentioned new jersey two people rushed to the hospital in a stabbing at rut guess university. the suspect is now in custody. the school was on lock down just before 3:00 this afternoon after two people were stabbed. no word on their conditions right now. this whatting at the business school on rutgers new brunswick campus. the university says that area has now been cleared and is safe. in the newsroom, adam 7 news. >> anchor: and we're following more breaking news out of haverhill. police investigating a pedestrian accident. we had sky 7 over the area just minutes ago. this is 371 river street. we've learned it's a serious accident. they called in a medical helicopter. we have crews on the way on the ground and we will continue to bring you the latest from haverhill. >> anchor: 7 news now on the cape where there was a bad bust today. two falmouth police officers recovering after a scarien counterment police say a man threw heroin at the officers.

happened there. >> reporter: good evening. falmouth police hoped to charge this guy with attempted murder denied by the court but he does face six serious charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. that weapon suspected heroin. 38-year-old russel pena of falmouth allegedly attacked two police officers after a drug bust by tossing hidden heroin at them will bag of narcotics from his anal cavity and assaulted two officers with the narcotics. if my years of 38 years in service, i have never heard of a suspect throwing drugs on to an officer. >> reporter: the chief says one of his officers got into a scuffle with pena as he was being processed after arrest. they had taken this mugshot. he was not handcuffed. he said pena pulled a clear mass

broke it open and flung it at the officers. one was hit in the face. the officer gained control of him, rehandcuffed him and placed him in a cell. at that point we dealt with the situation of the officer's covered in the heroin. >> reporter: emt's brought officers and pena to falmouth hospital where they were treat and released. a hazardous materials team was called to falmouth pk to clean up. the drug bust came at 930 a.m. at a parking lot by falmouth scenic harbor. officers from departments pulled over opiniona's black chevy impala to execute search warrants. they say they found drugs and cash. at rest went fine, the booking not so much. a deliberate act to rip it apart and toss it at you. that was pretty deliberate and dangerous. >> anchor: the chief said heroin is particularly dangerous these days because sometimes it is laced with fentanyl. that is a synthetic opioid that can be 50 to 100 times more

the judge set bail at $5,000 cash. live in falmouth, jonathan hall, 7 news. >> anchor: a man accused of robbing a baker knee brookline appeared if today. that man known to police was arrested overnight after investigators say he robbed a bakery on beacon street. police say the suspect told workers he had a gun but never showed one. and that he stole cash from the register as well as cash and cell phones from the customers who were inside. >> anchor: in start mouth police are investigating after two students are hit by a car. detectives say the car hit two women near the umass dartmouth the driver stayed right there and both of the people hit were taken to the hospital. harvard university rocked by a soccer scandal. the men's soccer team season now suspended. harvard's president making the call after the school discovered players were ranking members of the women's soccer team in sexually explicit detail. >> anchor: the president says this had been going on for years. victoria warren has the very latest. >> anchor: a soccer season cut

it's not what we're about here the it's just something had to be done. certainly the people who led it deserved a punishment that extreme. >> reporter: the players are also ordered to get education and training from the school's office of sexual assault prevention. in boston, victoria warren, 7 news. >> reporter: two men honored with the police commissioner's commendation for their incredible work saving lives. police commissioner evans presented the award to dr. george haas and the rest of the trauma unit thursday them were shooting in east boston last month. two veteran officers richard san toll oh and morris were shot in the incident. a fellow officer applied a tourniquet which helped save his life. both officers have since been released from the hospital. beth officers were responding to a domestic incident in east boston when a man opened fire. officers returned fire killing him. the officers who responded to the shooting have been commended for their bravery, getting

>> anchor: also on 7, british musician sting honoring the victims and survivors of the paris terror attacks one year later. 9 people died when three islamic state militants opened fire at a consent hall on november 13 of last year. that attack one of many that night so. that small concert hall will reopen for the concert next saturday and sting will be one of the performers. proceeds from the concert will be donated to organizations which provide support to survivors of the attacks and their fami deadly bus crash in walt more. the transportation company that operated the school bus involved in the crash says they have a current medical certificate for that deliver. the state says the deliver certification expired in august and didn't receive an updated one. now the driver along with four other people were killed when the school bus he was driving crashed into a commuter bus. well, police in kansas city missouri say a dad is under arrest after they say he tied to give his kids away to strangers in a parking lot. witnesses told police the man

went through about three sets all together. then? she is breathing. >> reporter: tina was rushed to the hospital, she was stable but unclear if she survived. tina had a heart attack that was so severe only about 10% of people survive it. days after the nearly fatal attack, tina woke up. without question for me, it was the happiest day of my life. i was sleeping and then i heard she is awake, she is awak. >> reporter: officer emotional when he heard the news. it looks like she will make a slow full recovery because of the quick way you administered cpr and you saved her and her mental capacities as well. the harder this family is saved did you to this officer's quick thinking. those the first time it's ever been like truly saved somebody's life. >> anchor: thankfully, that woman is expected to make a full recovery. in the newsroom, sara french, 7

>> anchor: not too bad out there right now. now the sun is set, temperatures are falling fast. in fact i actually have a frost advise rory up for the cape tonight. could see mid 30's jply closer to the canal. that would be the cooler area more like upper 30's and even closer to 40 for the upper cape. could see mid 20's for the usual cool spots like norwood, bedford orange, don't get a frost advisory there. the national weather service only issues frost advisories for areas where the growing season is still active so at this point that's only the cape. it doesn't mean the in general, temperatures wise this weekend will be a little bit below afternoon. otherwise, dry, not too bad and election day looks overall pretty nice. at least weather wise not just here but across most of the lower 48. weather will be cooperative for getting out and voting on tuesday. got 54 in boston. 56 norwood and 53 in beverly. not too bad now if you are heading out the door for date night fordowner and a movie on your friday evening. mild now but grab an extra layer

temperature in the 30's almost a 20 degree drop in temperatures between now and little bit later on this evening. part of the reason why is winds are getting lighter. winds currently about five to ten miles per hour had more like 20 plus a little bit early this afternoon. but as winds get lighter and skies are clear the temperatures just drop very quickly as soon as the sunsets so perfect set up for that because as you can see here hard lea cloud in the sky across most of southern new england. there are clouds from yesterday and that's part of a cold front and there is our next round of clouds. a weak disturbance here making its way toward ottawa and toronto. that will roll in here tomorrow bringing us some clouds and maybe, maybe, maybe a sprinkle. also not out of the question. you got a flurry in higher elevations in parts of the green mountains and the white mountains but an isolated sprinkle possible in massachusetts tomorrow from early morning until early afternoon. that would be about it. 90% of us stay dry and the evening looks fine just overall a mixture of clouds and sun for

seed pesto. we start with whole, irregular, nice, regular sized carrots and wheel will peel them. one and a half of or er seed and a couple of nice pinches of fine sea salt. >> reporter: add olive oil and mix well. and get ready to roast. we cook them whole because it allows the natural sweetness from the carrots to come throug. pop them in the oven and cook for about 15 minutes. while they cook, make the pesto. so i will ta seeds which i have already ed nicely in the oven. place in blend and roughly mix. set aside the pumpkin seeds and get some kale. just regular local kale. just take leaves off. >> reporter: chop the kale and add to the blender did. right here is lemon juice, fresh squeeze. ed. >> reporter: add water and puree. add chopped garlic, parmesan cheese and pumpkin spice then blend. add olive oil while slowly

>> anchor: ryan schulteis is live in our newsroom to get us the very latest information ryan in. the suspect in this shoot was also killed in the shoot out. the condition of the other officer isn't men as this time. nbc new york is are rocking one of the officers was shot in the head. the other in the leg. both officers sergeants that were involved in a shoot out with a robbery suspect of the police say the officer pulled the man over believing he match the description of a home robbery suspect. that's when the man opened fire on officers, killing one. as you can police presence at the scene as authorities search the crime scene there for any evidence. again, one new york city police officer has been killed. we're waiting to hear the condition of the other officer. in the newsroom, rhine schulteis 7 news. >> anchor: there is more breaking news out of new jersey where two people have been rushed to the hospital after a stabbing at rutgers university. the suspect,000 in custody. the school sent out an alert just before 3:00 this afternoon that several people had been stabbed. we now know that there are two stabbing victims. no word on their condition. this happening at the business
