legalization. in colorado the first state to legalize recreational use the governor once opposed to legislation is now optimistic. i step back now and i look at it and i say you know what might work? it just might work. >> reporter: but in the colorado town of pueblo voters are being asked if they want to repeal legalization while the district attorney from denver has written a letter to california saying they have seen an increase in crime. marijuana related traffic deaths and calls to poison control. and in california, those opposed the airwaves with ads warning about the danger to kids. children could be exposed to ads promoting marijuana gummy candy and brownies. the same products blamed for a spike in emergency room visits in colorado. >> reporter: if the measure passes in california, the marijuana market could be bigger than the economies of some small countries. experts estimate it could bring in over a billion dollars in tax rev jew alone. if california votes yes

battling these overheating flames here. kelly oh hera live in roxbury with the latest. >> reporter: frightening moments inside the school earlier after 7 people had to be rushed to the hospital the head of the school says it was a precaution and they are all expected to be okay. early morning school scare in mission hill the manville school's fire alarms go off and sends students running to safety after a battery overheats. everyone is fine. there was an incident involving a lithium ion battery that off an odor. it was removed. all of the children in the immediate vicinity were assessed by ems. six staff members and one student rushed to the hospital after getting sick from that odor. the fire department says a battery malfunction and water got on it people started not feeling so well. the boston fire hazardous team was on the scene for hours making sure everything was okay with the other students and teachers in the building. as for the school president, he

we all get concerned and you hear a lot of things in the news about these batteries and so our staff took really quick action, made sure the kids were safe. >> reporter: the school president said all 7 people are okay. they were just taken to the hospital as i precaution. he said this could have been so much worse and this weekend he is grateful they are okay. in mission hill, kelly o'hara, 7 news. >> anchor: new here at 4:30 a billerica pan called to court accused of injuring a police the 28-year-old is accused of assault and battery on a billerica police officer so police say that he and another man hit and dragged that officer with a van on friday it. happened in a right aid parking lot on boston road. the officer approached them for acts suspiciously and that's when they say that man allegedly backed the van into the officer, dragging him for about 15 feet. that officer should make a full recovery. and police say a driver hit and

investigators say this happened on shawsheen street and he was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash. according to da, the driver stayed on the scene calling 911 and it is cooperating with police. >> anchor: changes being made right here in boston after two police officers were shot. boston police is notifying the city's nearly 300 constables that they must be fingerprinted so authorities can run out-of-state background checks on them. this move comes a month after kirk figueroa shot two boston police offic his constable application was approved in april without debate. they didn't know he had a criminal history outside of the state. officers responding to a domestic incident at his apartment when he began shoot act them. more officers stepped in and shot and killed figueroa. two officers matthew morris and richard sentola were shot multiple times. both released from hospital and are continuing their recovery hat home. constables have until february to get fingerprinted or their authority to work in boston may be suspended. >> anchor: new individualoff

avenue bridge in needham. route 128 is become open today after crews finish taking a part that bridge sunday morning. officials say they finish the project ahead of schedule and right now all lanes along 128 are open. >> anchor: the demolition of the old tolls on the mass pike continues on schedule. toll booths have been removed from west springfield, chicopee and westfield. mass.officials say phase one of the project will be done soon. they also say construction is ahead of schedule in several places all across the state. >> anchor: a connecticut condo buil g the massive fire ripping through the building. some of the units inside were destroyed because of the smoke and clearly all of the flames. at least four fire fighters were hurt along with one person who lived there. cell phone video captures the flames that jump from unit to unit at this condo complex in connecticut. it just shot right up and it just kept spreading. >> anchor: people inside one building heard the alarms and saw the smoke but it was only after safely escaping they

i heard everybody running by yelling so i came out to see what it was. >> reporter: everyone was able to get out. although a person in the unit where the fire appears to have started was taken to a hospital and is peckested now to be okay. of the dozens of fire fighters that battled the blaze, four were hurt. two ended up having to go to the hospital for treatment. we have one of the fire fighters that was injured put his foot through the floor so the floor is very unstale at this point so he pulled all of the crews out. >> reporter: 8 condo were either damaged or potentially dozens of people find a police to stay for the night and get become on their feet. that's going to be a very tough loss for them to find another place to live and losing all of their belongings. it's hard breaking. it's a rot lot of people. it's a nice community here so, yeah, it really hurts. >> anchor: fights are still trying to figure out what caused that fire in the first place. >> anchor: we are following more news here today. transit officials in philadelphia have reached an agreement with union workers
