arizona, nevada, and maine whether to legalize. for most states that means six plants for personal use and allows people over 21 to buy up to an ounce. h is what an ounce looks like. while in maine voters will be asked to legalize up to two and a half ounces. nationwide polls are showing support for pot is at an all-time high. this election cycle 57% of americans are in favor of legalization. in colorado, the first state governor once opposed to legislation is now optimistic. i step back now and i look at it and i say you know it, might work. it just might work. >> reporter: in the colorado town of pueblo voters are being asked if they want to repeal legalization while the district attorney from denver has written a letter to california saying they have seen an increase in crime, marijuana related traffic deaths and calls to poison control. and in california, those opposed to legalization are taking to

that means 7 news at 6:00 will then air at 7:30. >> anchor: we have more news today at 5:30. frightening fumes at a roxbury school sending six adults and one student to the hospital. it happened at the manville school in mission hill. >> anchor: those involved were taken to the hospital after a battery overheated kelly o'hara live with more on this story. some frightening moments indeed. after those fumes got 7 people sick, the school headmaster says everyone is expected to be okay. school scare in mission hill early monday morning. 9 is 1 h 11 called after several people got stick from a battery that overheated. there was an incident involving a lithium, ion battery that started to malfunction letting off an odor. it was removed. six staff members and one student were rushed to the hospital after getting sick from that odor. you can see the boston fire department hazardous materials team on the school grounds and

hospital. as for the school president tonight he is just glad no one was seriously hurt. we all get concerned and you hear a lot of things in the news about these batteries and so our staff took really quick action, made sure the kids were safe. >> reporter: he added he was lucky because it was just a precaution, everyone was taken to a hospital and the school did not have to be evacuated. in mission hill tonight, kelly o'hara, 7 news. >> anchor: new video of the demolition of the highland route 128 is back open today after crews finish taking apart that bridge sunday morning. officials say they finish the project ahead of schedule. right now all lanes along route 128 are back open. demoltion of the old tolls on the mass pike continues on schedule. toll booths have been removed. mass.officials say phase one of the project will be complete soon and construction is ahead of schedule in several places across the state. >> anchor: a connecticut condo building goes up in flames. you can see here the massive

building. some of the units of course were completely devoid by seeing that video and at left four fire fighters were hurt along with at least one resident. cell phone video captures the flames that jump from unit to unit at this condo complex in connecticut. it just shot right up and it just kept spreading. >> reporter: people inside one building heard alarms and saw the smoke but it was only after safely escaping they realized the horror that was quickly unfolding. i heard everybody running i came out to see what it was. >> reporter: everyone was able to get out although a person in the unit where the fire appears to have started was taken to a hospital and is expected now to be okay. of the dozens of fire fighters, the that battled the blaze, four were hurt, two ended up having to go to the hospital for treatment. we said one of the fire fighters that was injured put his foot through the floor so the floor is very unstale at this point of we pulled all of the crews out. >> reporter: 8 condos either damaged or destroyed. the american red cross helped potentially dozens of people

feet. that's going to be a very tough loss for them to find another place to live and losing all of their belongings. it's hard breaking. it's a lot of people, it's a nice community here, so it really hurts. >> anchor: so everyone hurt is expected to be okay. fire fighters are now trying to figure out the exact cause of the fire. >> anchor: also on 7 a california street race turned into a deadly crash. investigators say the midday street race reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. the er car and slammed into a tree. he was pronounced ted at the scene. the impact was so intense it sent debring flying over the retaining wall and neighbors said it could easily have hit kids who were playing in their backyards. there was an oil pump that came over, landed on we have a hot tub in the back and it landed on the hot tub. >> anchor: officers said the deliver was racing a gray acura and they are now looking for that car and driver who took off from the scene. >> anchor: caught on camera. a wild chase in los angeles.

you can see the driver sort of weaving in and out of traffic there on the highway on streets nearly crashes into other drivers. first time confirmation said oh no, you crashed right into the divider there. what happened? >> reporter: that chase coming to an end there when the driver slams into that divider as you just saw and heard from that happened reporter. police then arrested the driver so he wasn't too badly injured. >> anchor: now police are called in to respond to some y trouble in a california neighborhood circle people's cars and trapped them inside. investigators say they also have received reports of turkeys chasing people down the street. 911 dispatchers say they have been overwhelmed with phone calls. there is a turkey between fourth avenue and 5th avenue running around like chasing after people. i can't leave. i can't go anywhere.
