on election day. baker growing... going to his hometown in swampscott. he filled out his ballot with one exception. help did not cast a vote for president. nancy chen is back now with that story. >> nancy: sarah, that is right. governor baker is a lifelong republican and headed to the polls this morning but says he did not vote for anyone for president. governor charlie baker casting his vote early tuesday morning in his hometown of swampscott. but declining to vote for either hillary clinton or donald trump. >> i said many months ago that i wasn't going to be able to support donald trump for a number of reasons. i thought hillary clinton had believability problems. nothing has happened in the past nine months to change my mind on that. >> nancy: the republican governor did not vote for trump in the primary. >> this is the first time i haven't voted for president. i'm obviously disappointed by that.

tight. a recent 7 news you has-lowell poll found things virtually dead-locked. the current new hampshire governor maggie hassan has been fighting hard for the senate seat. she appeared at a rally with hillary clinton on sunday. and voted this morning. >> as you would expect, security is very tight at polls all across the country. the justice department is even stepping up operation, sending more than 500 staffers to polling places, including quincy. our 7 team coverage continues now with nicole oliverio,iv angle. nicole, good afternoon. >> reporter: hi, kris. that is right. the city of quincy was told those monitors would be here. they don't know exactly how many they have in town. but they said they are just here to observe. they won't be interk aing with any of the voters. >> we voted. >> reporter: voters out early in quincy. >> it was smooth and quiet. nothing interesting happened. >> at least nothing that anyone noticed. the department of justice told city leaders they sent election monitors to polling

are being protected. quincy city clerk tells us there has never been an issue in the past. but welcomed the monitors. >> i don't know why they would send them. i mean, everything seems to be on the up and up. >> the d.o.j. sent monitors to 67 jurisdictions in 28 states. quincy is the only city in massachusetts with these federal monitors. the city said the agency asked about places where asian-american residents vote. but believes the town was tried to encourage her community to vote in this election. >> i think the asian community is much more shy and they are shying away. maybe it is the language barrier. that is something monitors will be looking at. according to a statement from the u.s. attorney general who said they are looking to make sure voters are treated equally based on race, disabilities, or language barriers. >> what's wonderful about quincy because of the large population of chinese here,

in a way, it communicates to them that they do have their rights here. their voices here. they understand what they are doing. >> reporter: quincy has more than 59,000 registered voters. so far no, problems forecast at any of the polling places. and the city clerk tells us this is the first time she has ever heard of where they have had monitors here in town. live in quincy, nicole oliverio, 7 news. >> sarah: here in massachusetts, several ballot questions are being decidn so let's take a look at question number one. a yes vote would allow the state's gambling commission to issue an additional slots parlor license. developers are aiming to open one near the suffolk downs racetrack. question two, has been highly controversial. it proposes to approve up to 12 new charter schools with an increase in enrollment by up to 1% every year. those schools would have to undergo annual performance reviews.

of the week. a quick look at temperatures. actually, plenty of us in the 60's right now. 60 degrees in portsmouth. 63 in bedford. mid-50's here in boston. winds very light. it feels comfortable outside. already 65 degrees in fitchburg. what's going on right now on satellite and radar? well, not much of anything. actually, mostly sunny skies. again, a beautiful day. especially with light winds. feels fantastic out there. we have a couple of high-level clouds working their way into western massachusetts. later tonight, we will see cloud cover thicken up from the west further eastward. our next approach from the west. again, with the calm winds, it is really nice out here. we have a sea breeze that will take into effect here in the afternoon. that will moderate temperatures along the coast. again, temperatures well above our seasonal highs. actually, around 54 degrees. we are looking at temperatures topping out in the mid to low 6's for most of us. a little warmer as you head inland. later tonight, cloud cover thickens up. by tomorrow morning on your way to work, we are already seeing some showers throughout the state of massachusetts.

far eastern massachusetts across the cape. and then all of us are going to see those showers really around lunchtime. especially in eastern massachusetts as well as the cape. that continues until around the early evening hours. and then this really starts to tamer off as we head into tomorrow night. and then that frontal system moves eastward. some cloudy skies as we head into tomorrow. so again, soak up that sunshine today. we are really seeing nothing but sunshine. by tomorrow, in terms of rainfall totals, not a lot of moisture to work with. most of us looking at .02 to a tenth of an inch of rain. perhaps a little more as you head further to our southeast. up to a quarter of an inch there. most of us not seeing a ton of precipitation with the next system. mostly sunny today. mild conditions. a sea breeze going. winds very light out of the west. but that is going to usher in more moisture for us. dew points started out in the low 30's. we are looking at dew points in the upper 40's by tomorrow. almost a little bit muggy. very unseasonable weather here today. still unseasonable as we head

>> nancy: all right. what we are learning right now, a woman is safe after being found in those chains on the farm in south carolina. that is the good news here. >> kris: yeah. on monday, crews dug up two more bodies on that farm. that brings the total to three bodies found. investigators say the bodies were found close to each other. but they don't know the ages, genders or how long that they have been buried there. officials have not released the identities of the people yet, but they don't believe they are going to find any more bodies. switching gears now. a squirrel attack at a florida senior center. officials say that a squirrel scratched and bit a resident this morning. staff members shot and killed the animal with a b.b. gun. this is the second attack on... at the senior home by a squirrel. a squirrel attacked people on thursday. it is unclear if the squirrel killed today was the same squirrel behind thursday's attack. a slithering serpent making its way on to a commercial

west to east. we are talking about the chance for scattered showers. i do expect that for tomorrow, for the morning commute, we all could be seeing that. the bulk of that activity should be further in western massachusetts. as we head into the lunch hour, that is when i think we stand a better chance of widespread scattered showers. and again, these aren't going to pack a punch when it comes to moisture. a couple of tenths of an inch at best. showers continue through eastern massachusetts across the cape into the early evening hours. you can see most of this does as we head into the later evening hours. a quick check on rainfall totals with the system. not a whole lot. a lot of us seeing a couple of hundredths of an inch of rain. i do think some of us could see about a quarter of an inch of rain. especially across the cape. but again, scattered showers kind of bringing if...

dry into the end of the week as well. today, mostly sunny skies. mild conditions. we already have that sea breeze going. that is going to continue through the afternoon. for us, temperatures closer to 60 degrees. upper 50's. you can see further inland, temperatures already in the mid to low 60's. a great day to get outside and vote. no excuse with the weather. winds still very light. and very comfortable. not going to be nearly as cold as what we woke up to this morning. temperatures in the upper 30's. we could see a little patchy fog as well especially in southeastern massachusetts. that shouldn't be widespread. definitely something to watch out for on your morning commute tomorrow. by friday, i think we have the slight chance for some showers for your veteran's day
