the streets in at least 25 cities. out west, police declared the demonstration a riot. protesters smashed business windows and car windshields. this man sitting in his car says he felt under attack. >> they were walking by, beating on my window, spitting on us. one of them slashed our tires. >> reporter: some spray-painting "dump-trump." others chanting with the we reject the president-elect." >> they are vandalizi because your candidate didn't win. that is stupid. >> reporter: overnight, donald trump tweeting "just had a very open and presidential election. and now protesting. very unfair." on facebook, groups continue

but it's promoting a peaceful rally. showing citizens care for one another. kimberly bookman, 7 news. >> sarah: today trump's transition team hard at work. they are figuring out who might fill some positions in the new administration. some picks are stirring up controversy. donald trump's white house quickly taking shape. his transition team working fast fast to figure out who goes where. multiple campaign sources tell nbc news high-profile peop like chris christie, newt gingrich, and rudy giuliani. >> i certainly have the energy and there is probably nobody that knows the justice department better than me. >> reporter: former congressman mike rodgers giving a no comment to word he could be c.i.a. chief. all on a special list for a special security clearance. cynthia mcfadden reports exclusively that president-elect's team has

state police spent hours taking pictures inside this home in marlborough and of this blue car. while bagging potential evidence at the scene. the district attorney confirms a baby and two adults were found unresponsive inside the two-story home. >> this should never happen. should never happen. a little child like that. >> reporter: police got the call before noon yesterday. and when they arrived, the baby was rushed to the hospital. >> it was really shocking to see. police cruisers on the street. never mind find out that, you know, a young baby had died. >> reporter: the unresponsive adults, a 19-year-old woman and 23-year-old man are still in the hospital. >> kind of a little freaked out. usually, on this street, nothing happens. >> reporter: the woman is peruvian and lived here with her boyfriend and mother. >> i thought they were pretty all set, content, happy family. i don't really know what's going on. >> you don't like to hear anything like. that little kids being hurt. >> reporter: now, in addition to the middlesex district attorney's office, the state department of children and

i'm byron barnett, 7 news. >> sarah: turning now to a wild multi-state police chase. officers say a couple stole two cars and attacked two women as they tried to get away from police. nicole oliverio spoke who one of the alleged car-jacking victims. she joins us live from worcester with the latest. >> reporter: sarah, that woman is now recovering. this wild ride all came to an end in worcester. >> you take a look. the suspect hitting that blue crv that is in that neighbor's driveway. the woman car-jacked tells us she was in connecticut just over the massachusetts border with her mother when she noticed that a couple had crashed their car into a tree. she slowed down, thinking they needed help. that is when they attacked. >> i'm nine staples here. >> reporter: barbie mccoy showing off stab wounds she suffered while being car-jacked. >> he swung the door open. i don't remember him saying anything. i just remember him coming at

instinctively, i turned. i threw my phone. i had it in my hand. hit him in the face. that is when the knife came out. >> reporter: mccoy, a sixth-degree black-belt says she immediately fought back. >> i kicked him low. kicked him in the chest. kicked him notice fast. it was working. all of a sudden, the car moved. i don't know if he was able to hit the car. f he went in, grabs the steering wheel and turned it towards the guardrail. and then threw me out of the instinctively, i did a break fall, i did a shoulder roll. then i sat there. i was in shock. i realize my mom was still in the car. i was like "get out of the car!" >> reporter: within minutes, troopers in massachusetts spotted the suspects and began chase. part of the pursuit caught on camera. it all came to a clark end. the driver ended up in a worcester cul-de-sac smashing into a car parked in this family's driveway. the suspects christopher harding and his female

three stab wounds. her mother needing surgery for hers. mccoy now recovering from three stab wounds. she knows how extremely lucky she is to be telling her story. >> remember your internal strength. remember who loves you. don't forget how strong you really are. >> reporter: mccoy tells us that her mother tried fighting back also as she was getting out of the car. her mother has to have surgery now to have ligaments reparld in her arm. they will appear in court on monday. >> nancy: nicole, thank you. the friday forecast, many people getting an early start to the weekend. >> reporter: well, we have an important weather update here. the national weather service issued a wind advisory throughout southern new england earlier this morning. this was just for the cape. now this is for most of us here. we have been talking about it being a breezy day. it certainly is going to be.

kind of taking its time here. that aloud us to warm up pretty nicely. wind gusts up to 33 miles per hour here in boston. providence at 29-mile-per-hour wind gusts. these are right around where sustained winds are as well. very breezy conditions. defer nutly capable of taking down some tree limbs. just watch for moving objects blowing around in the streets. i would definitely an disfate possibility for even a few power outages with these winds. further through the state here today. we are actually looking at some nice weather coming up after the break.

sound right. >> we are going to work with our federal partners to conduct an investigation to determine what his motives were. >> sarah: police found the names and personal information of four other employees in the back-pack. police in bourne stepping up patrols after a 14-year-old girl was assaulted while walking to her bus stop. the assault happened on thursday morning. according to officers, the girl was walking along puritan road when she was grabs from behind around the neck in his 20's or early 30's. the girl wasn't hurt in the attack. police are still looking for the suspect. >> nancy: the nation honoring our veterans. this is a look at the annual veteran's day observance at arlington national cemetery. president obama among the speakers there today. each year on november 11, at precisely 11:00 a.m., a wreath is laid at the tomb of the unknown soldier at arlington national cemetery. and for the last time in his

outside the tomb today. earlier, a ceremony at the world war ii memorial in washington, d.c. paid tribute to the 16 million americans who have served. veterans received an american flag and were honored with wreaths. three-time decorated former senate majority leader bob dole among those in attendance there. he gave brief speech and stood when his wreath was presented. >> sarah: there are many veteran's day remembrances being held across massachusetts. the department of veterans services held its annual military families. at the statehouse earlier today. governor charlie baker spoke about how he doesn't see veterans from the perspective of a state official, but rather, from the perspective of a father. >> i think about it through the lens of being a dad. and my wife lauren who is with us here today, she and i have talked on many occasions about the fact that it made us kind of nervous to send our kids off to their first day of

send our kids off to high school. to sejd our kids offer to camp. to send our kids offer to college. >> sarah: veteran's was originally set as a u.s. legal holiday to honor the end of world war i which officially took place on november 11, 1918. a former police station in south boston now a home for veterans. there are 24 new apartments. six of which have been set aside for homeless veterans. the apartments are handy cap-accessible but also affordable. the boston mayor marty walsh spoke today about the importance of boston leading the way when it comes to taking care of our nation's armed forces. >> i don't think there is a better way of celebrating veteran's day by opening this new home here for veterans and their family. and south boston is one of those communities that has

>> reporter: welcome back. mother nature is celebrating veteran's day with some windy conditions here. windy throughout the day today. even until this evening. the good news is it is still sunny. we are going to keep things dry and quite beautiful. especially niles for this time of year. even into the weekend. chilly conditions do return for tomorrow.

going to trend cooler than what we have seen for quite some time. we are back to highs in the mid to upper 40's. as we head into the rest of the weekend, we keep things dry. it will be a really nice weekend. even dry into the start of next week. current temperatures are quite balmy, actually. this cold front taking its time moving through the state of massachusetts. you can see the cape in the low 60's. even 63 degrees in new bedford. here in boston, we have a shot at hitting 60 degrees. you can already see to our north west, that cool air pushing into the state. that is headed our way. here. right now not much going on on satellite and radar. we started out with mostly sunny skies. cloud cover will thicken up a little as we head into the rest of the day. we will actually gradually clear out as well. we are seen a couple of pesky showers trying to push through. at best, this is really just sprinkles. most of it not even reaching the ground.

has extended this to all of southern new england. this morning, this is just for the cape. this is all for southern new england: that was in effect starting about 45 minutes ago. that is going to be in effect until late tonight. we are looking at sustained winds up to even 0-34 miles per hour. some wind gusts up to around 40, even 50 miles per hour. >> we head out to these veteran's day parades, i would add on some extra layers. temperatures falling into the afternoon, forecast it will get pretty chilly quickly. in the afternoon, temperatures start to fall. late afternoon, i do anticipate temperatures notice mid-40's for us. some of us potentially in the low 40's. cool conditions as we head into the rest of today. we keep things cool into tomorrow as well. the forecast showing temperatures tomorrow in the mid to upper 40's for highs. but still dry skies through monday.

a passer-by reported this video of a deer rushing through an american eagle clothing store. this is on thursday. the animal jumped straight through that glas. it is not known how badly the deer was injured or how he managed to enter the store in the first place. >> nancy: in florida, two eagles make a great escape. both were trapped in a drain cover. this all started with a fight over territory. >> sarah: it ended with both birds in a pretty tight spot. >> reporter: it was a startling sight. two symbols of america, bald eagles, stuck in a florida storm drain. roads were shut down during rush hour as crews worked to rescue them. at first, some thought the eagle on top was protecting the other one. experts say that is not even close to what happened. they say it is nesting season. they think the eagles got into a fight when one of them got into the other bird's territory. >> they can get into a territory fight. they lock.

we have a wind advisory in effect throughout southern new england. earlier today, this was just for the cape. the national weather has extended this. we are all in it together here. when it comes to breezy conditions. wind guferss up to 40-50 miles per hour. those 50-mile-per-hour wind guferss are more likely to peak around there near the cape. but we are still looking at breezy conditions. this advisory is in effect this afternoon until late tonight. right now, wind guferss in the upper 20's. even 32-mile-per-hour wind gusts in worcester. this is right around where our sustained winds are as well now. very breezy conditions. as a cold front moves in from the northwest. that is pushing through massachusetts right now. that cold air is going to move in. you can see jaffrey down to 48 degrees already. it has taken its time moving through. that has allowed us to warm up pretty nicely. do expect some cool weather into the afternoon. as you head out to these veteran's day parades. temperatures are going to continue to fall. we will stay breezy. layers are a perfect idea today.

being hurt or anything like that. >> reporter: the state department of children and families says it too is involved in this case. >> sarah: right now a bus driver under investigation. he was involved in an accident with passengers onboard, then just took off. 7's victoria warren has a closer look. passengers on this m.b.t.a. bus calling 911 after police say the driver crashed into a parked car and just kept going. that crash happened in melrose. in this surveillance video, you can see when police caught up to the bus in stoneham. police now investigating to see if the driver was under the influence of prescription drugs. sky 7 over the scene. the 12 people who were on the bus safely got off. none of them were hurt. they got on another waiting bus while transit police continued investigating. the m.b.t.a. says the drivers worked for them for 12 years. he is now accused of leaving the scene of an accident. the damage to the parked car in melrose described as minor.

this man will not be driving a bus. he will be summonsed to court. in melrose, 7 news. >> nancy: a judge ruling that statements a woman made to police can be used in her manslaughter trial. michelle carter encouraged her friend to commit suicide. also the couple who filed a wrongful death lat the death of their one-year-old baby being awarded $4 million. they say their irish nanny is responsible for the child's death back in 2013. a murder charge was dropped against ashley brady mccarthy last year aftera medical examiner ruled the baby's cause of depth as undetermined. the couple's lawyer says the nanny doesn't have that money but they don't want her to profit from a possible book or movie deal. >> sarah: happening now: veterans being honored for their service.

video being released from the pulse nightclub massacre. you can see officers entering the orlando nightclub wearing latex gloves to protect against splattered blood all with their guns drawn. the mass shooting in june left 49 victims dead and 53 wounded at the hands of a gunman. also, the music world mourning the loss of a legend. leonard cohen has passed away. the musician best known for his hit song "hall you la," covered hundreds of times. he was indikted and roll hall of fame in 2008. he was 82 years old. hundreds gathered thursday night outside his home in montreal. the vigil started small and grew as the night went on. cohen released his final album "you want it darker" weeks ago. >> nancy: antarctica has a high-profile guest today. secretary of state john kerry is there for a two-day trip.
