>> anchor: there is a lot of smoke you see the smoke billowing out from those trees again. we know this is near some homes and at this point it's not clear if those homes have been evacuated but as you mention we do i have crew on the way to get the latest information. >> anchor: you can tell also on 7 here a lowell home goes new flames on cross street. that fire broke out late this morning. sky 7 over the fire earlier today. you can see crews spraying down the charred flames. the frame there. investigators have not said what caused that the cambridge couple who filed a wrongful death lawsuit over the death of their one-year-old baby is being awarded $4 million. they say their irish nanny is responsible for the child's death back in 2013. a murder charge was dropped against answer rebrady mccarty a year later after a medical examiner later ruled the baby's death is undetermined. the couple's lawyer says the nanny doesn't have that kind of money but they don't want her to profit from a book or movie deal. >> anchor: an mbta bus driver is now under investigation.

parked car and then kept going. 7's victoria warren has a closer look. passengers on this bus calling 911 after police say the driver crashed in a parked car and just kept going that crash happened in melrose in this surveillance video you can see when police caught up to the bus in stoneham. police now investigating to see if the driver was under the influence of prescription drugs. sky 7 over the scene, the 12 people on the bus none of them were hurt. they got on another waiting bus while transit police continued investigating. the mbta says delivers worked for them for 12 years. he is as accused of leaving the scene of the accident. the edge to the parked car describe as minor. the mbta says while this investigation is going on, this man will not be driving a bus. he will be summoned to court. in melrose, victoria warren, 7 news. >> anchor: a former police station in south boston now home

temperatures down quite significantly already. 48 in boston, 49 in norwood and we will continue to fall back with the temperatures even into the overnight hours. a few clouds that have managed to sneak on through but look at what's just to the north and west of us. yes, a whole lot of white showing up on this map indicating snowfall. we are not going to see any of that but that just gives you an idea of how much colder this air is that's moving in for us to set up this start of the weekend. so we'll run through the time line here upper 30's as you get into the interior and then by the time we hit 7:00 p.m. mid 30's. watch how quickly these temperatures drop. 11:00 p.m. you are wrapping update night. we're already near the freezing mark in worcester, possibly bedford as well and if you are an early riser for saturday morning, you can expect some mid to upper 20's in some of those coldest spots norwood, bedford, taunton, even worcester could get down to about 29 degrees as we get into tomorrow.

despite the sunshine but at least it's there for us for some moral support. it's clear and cold overnight tonight. still windy so bat on down the hatches if you haven't already. i can even hear windows rolling around a little bit in our apartments so that is something that will continue as you are trying to sleep tonight. tomorrow, mostly sunny, it's chilly for us and there will be a bit of a breeze making those mid to upper 40's feel even cooler. we're backing on the layers tomorrow. even despite that bright sunshine, staying chilly at least we get to keep the bright skies around and things warm up for us on sunday even another 60 degree day could be on tap for us as we get into monday keeping things dry through that time frame as well. next chance of rain doesn't arrive until tuesday and this still right now a bit if he for us. ' going with it in my extended forecast, but this is the euro model bringing in that coastal storm as we get into late tuesday and the rain sticking around with us even into early wednesday.

models aren't in agreement but for now it is on my 7 on 7 forecast. here is a look at that, the numbers up and dunn as we get through this entire next week and back into the low 50's by the end of next week. see you at 5:00. >> anchor: time now for 7 fast track traffic. here is matt fitzgerald with an update. any holiday traffic out there? just a few. not that bad. we'll begin the leverett connector tied new both directions. you are moving well on both sides. the northbound side wide open right out of the tunnel all the way the southbound side is clear from assembly square into the southbound tunnel. the expressway surprisingly moving well in both directions on the southbound side a little slow from mass avenue up to the south bay shopping center then you break free until you reach squantum street. on the northbound side you will be delyaed from the split up past neponset circle then okay further north. the pike west is looking good, leaving the city however further up all break lights from newton corner out toward route 30 then again out toward route 9.

with the news station for more on this breaking story. >> anchor: we are also following breaking news out of boston where a large group of protestors have gathered on boston common to protest the results of the presidential election. it has been peaceful in sharp contrast is passionate protest in portland, oregon. the demonstration turning violent. many upset after donald trump was elected. complete at first calling out demonstrators saying they were being unfair but changed his tune calling them passionate. >> anchor: let's go live where the e on the common behind him right now. kim, the night may have fallen here but the protest is only growing here on boston common. it started at about 2:00 now at the 5:00 hour. plenty of people are still here. you can see that they are protesting, they are shouting anti-trump messages and they are not only concerned about the election, but they are also
