are not evacuating any residence and they are just monitoring this fire. pretty widespread but they are hoping it will burn itself out and no word yet on what might have started the fire. we'll keep sky 7 up in the air and keep an eyeons things and bring you any developments. for now in the newsroom, i'm kim khazei, 7 news. >> anchor: we're following more breaking news out of boston. hundreds of people gathered on boston common to protest the election of donald trump. the protest started this afternoon and has been peaceful. there have been several and across the country in cities like new york, los angeles and portland, oregon since election day we'll have more on today's protests coming up at 6:00. >> anchor: also on 7, two people are waking up behind bars after a wild ride in connecticut. this chase started in connecticut and crossed into massachusetts. >> anchor: officers say the couple stole two cars and attacked two women during their get away attempts. nicole oliverio has more.

>> reporter: barbie mccoy showing off stab wounds she suffered while being carjacked. he swung the door open and i don't remember him saying anything. i remember him coming at me so instinctively i created distance i turned and threw my phone because i had it in my hand, hi him hot face and that's when the knife came out. >> reporter: mccoy, a sixth degree black belt said she immediately fought back. so i just kicked him low, kicked him in the chest, kicked hill in the face. it was working, he fell then all of a sudden the car moved. i don't know if he was able to me. he went in, grabbed the steering wheel and turned it toward the guardrail and then threw me out of the car. instinctively i did a back break fall and did a shoulder roll then i sat there because i was in shock and then i realized my mom was still in the car and i was like get out of the car! >> reporter: connecticut state police put out a bolo. troopers in mass spotted the suspects and began chase. par of the pursuit caught on

when the driver ended up smashing in a car parked in this family's driveway. suspects christopher harding and his female passenger both arrested. mccoy now recovering from three stab wounds, her mother needing surgery for hers. mccoy now recovering from three stab wounds. she knows how extremely lucky she is to be telling her story. remember your strength. remember who loves you and don't forget how strong you really are. >> anchor: the car the suspect this family's driveway. as for mccoy, she says she will be okay. her mother has to undergo surgery for stab wounds to her arm, the suspects will be in court on monday. in worcester, nicole oliverio, 7 news. >> anchor: sky 7 over a house fire this morning in lowell. you can see crews spraying down the charred frame of that home on cross street. paramedics and emt's were on scene but it's not clear if anyone was hurt. investigators have not said what caused that fire. the cambridge couple who filed a

is being awarded $4 million. they say their irish nanny is responsible for the child's death back in 2013. a murder charge was dropped against ainsley mccarthy when a medical examiner ruled the baby's death is undetermined. the couple said they don't want the nanny to profit from a become or movie deal. >> anchor: a former police station in south boston now a home for veteran's. there are 24 new apartments, six of which have been set aside for homeless veterans. the apartmen handicapped accessible but also affordable. boston mayor marty walsh spoke today about the importance of boston leading the way when it comes to taking care of our nation's veterans. i don't think there is a better way of celebrating veteran's day by opening this new home here for veterans and their family. and south boston is one of those communities that has never forgotten their veterans.. >> anchor: south boston has one of the highest populations of

>> anchor: caught on camera, a car goes on a crash course, slamming into a dental office. it happened in florida. >> anchor: unfortunately this happened after the last patient had left for the day and you are about to see why. tuck a look at this dental exam chair. a car comes barreling right into the exam room just seconds after a member of the cleaning crew leaves the room. that man narrowly avoiding serious injury. the final patients of the day had just left the naples, florida ken office. we could have had somebody in that room, somebody we care about. it could have been a much worse situation.

the owner of the dental office absolutely relieved, all she has to deal with right now is all of the damage. this can be repaired. but lives, you know, they can't so we're actually very glad that nothing happened. >> anchor: you can see the huge hole in the side of the building. police say driver suddenly veered off the road and slammed into the dental office. that driver an elderly man suffering only minor injuries despite how hard his car its hit the building and crashed right through. now the building's owner said the crash caused around $80,000 in damage. >> anchor: coming up on 7 news at 5:30 heading to cambridge for would hag. a new england dish for a windy evening of it's what's cooking. maybe already planning that thanksgiving meal just less than two weeks until the big day but we've got some chilly wind to talk about to kick off the weekend in that forecast is coming up next. >> anchor: a car slams into a restaurant in danvers. having lunch sent scrambling. >> anchor: a baby is dead after two people were found

to get town around 50 miles per hour. gusts right now are below advisory criteria. however, every once in a while every once in a while we get a gust that will push the limit and we've seen that earlier this afternoon. gusts in boston right now close to 30 miles per hour and you tick a look just a few clouds out there at this point, even though the sun is gone down but what's to our northwest even flakes flying in the today so that gives you an idea of this cold air along with these winds. highs today quite mild, 60 degrees for boston even into the low to mid 60's for southeastern mass near buzzard areas bay, cape cod and islands, but wow, we have changed quite a bit with the winds and the cold air that's moving in for us. 46 in boston. it's 40 in worcester, dropping into the upper 30's in many spots within the next couple of hours with a clear skies, we know we have cold temperatures on tap and typically the winds will keep temperatures from

could be so the wind is helping out with that tonight. still a cold one for us. 27 to 34. maybe even the heater if it hasn't gone on yet it might need to as we get into early tomorrow morning and tomorrow we get the sunshine around but still temperatures 45 to 51, not all that warm, and below formal for this time of year. i mentioned milder temperatures back in the forecast for us sunday into monday and we continue this up and down flow throughout the next 7 days. pats forecast for sunday, it will be a cool 47 degrees, although that's very close to what our high will be tomorrow. and how about that super moon that's on the way for us as we get into tuesday. this will be the full beaver moon so it is going to be bright in the sky through the weekend as well including the pats forecast. now we do stay dry for the next few days and it isn't until tuesday we have a chance of rain in the forecast and models not really in agreement. i'm going with the euro. that's what you are seeing right here and that does bring rain in for us late tuesday sticking

>> anchor: we begin with breaking news first at 6:00. we have been watching this huge brush fire that's burning in lynn right now. big flames, there is a lot of smoke and it's pouring out of the lynn woods there. >> anchor: fire official say they are just monitoring it right now because it's not threatening any homes. amaka ubaka joins us with breaking details. >> reporter: this video is from sky 7 high above the lynn woods. this fire is whatting pretty deep in the woods. the closest neighborhood is ridge street. strong winds helping to spread these flames but as mentioned fire fighters are not actively battling this and instead they are watching it, thinking it will burn itself out before it gets too close to homes. at this point, there are no evacuations. you can see it urn withing there. we'll continue to keep you updated on this as the story develops throughout the evening. in the newsroom, amaka ubaka, 7 news. >> anchor: now at 6:00 on just one station we're talking it a passenger taking for a wild ride on an mbta bus.

pulled over that bus after several crashes. we can tell you first off the top the t driver is off the job tonight. >> anchor: kimberly becomeman spoke to the passenger who tells her he got off the bus for fear of his own safety. >> reporter: that passenger says the bus was swerving from the very start. he says it was so close to the right hand lane he thought they were going to hit several cars, trees and telephone polls. it was very tense in the bus when he driving away no one knew what to do. >> reporter: feeling unsafe doug a passenger on the route 132 bus that hit a van in melrose thursday night says he did what he thought was best. he teched his me i don't know say an urgent message then called 911. i decided i don't to sit here and if something happens i will feel horrible if i didn't do anything. i made the phone call. >> reporter: this is what he said. i said i am very concerned. i think there is an intoxicated driver driving our bus.
