>> on the west coast, a homecoming for tom brady. gronk will not be in attendance. first at 11:00, breaking news tonight. a construction worker killed after a tragic accident. this down in duxbury. firefighters say that worker was in a trench when a power saw kicked back. >> tonight investigators are looking into exactly what went wrong. kelli o'hara is live with the details in duxbury. >> reporter: that is horrific and sad situation. it was that man's first day on the job. tragedy struck. saturday afternoon, sam romanelli tried desperately to save his coworker's life. crews were working on a new subdivision here in duxbury on tremont street. one of the men working in the trench had a tragic accident. as a 28-year-old was working on a water pipe, the saw he was holding firefighters say, kicked back and cut his throat.

and i stuffed it into his throat. >> very serious. very grave injuries to the neck area. >> firefighters say the man sadly, didn't make it. he died from his injuries shortly afterwards at the hospital. romanelli says he tried to do everything he could. >> we tried to do everything we could to, you know, stop the bleeding. it is a tragedy. an unfortunate accident. >> reporter: osha was on scene with the fire and police department. to scenes like this are never easy. especially so close to the holidays. in duxbury tonight, 7 news night team. >> winter weather sweeping through the northeast. say it ain't so. a winter storm warning has been issued for parts of western massachusetts. and temperatures last are beginning to take a dive tonight. >> that's right. well, it is so. we are going to deal with it. this storm has packed a punch in the midwest.

blizzard-like conditions. creating a real mess on the roadways. some parts getting up to two feet of snow. >> another snowy scene. this is at the university of michigan football game. in ann arbor today. it started copping down. the stadium went wild. those were some good snow angels there. what can we expect from the system? bri eggers has details. >> you have to be a big fan in order to stay out in that for a game. we are some snow on the way. really for western massachusetts. this will be high elevation snow. ain posted in the pink area you see there. and winter weather advisory in the purple. this is a long-duration event. expected to last until 7:00 p.m. on monday. we will continue to watch that. right now, not a lot going on for us. you can see that weather making its way in. a whole lot of snow on the way for the berkshires. could be about a half a foot. real ideal for us, closer to home, we are talking about the cold temperatures pushing in for us. and also the gusty winds. there will be a wind advisory

>> a 25-year-old lynn man facing charges after this disturbing hit-and-run. investigators say they got a tip that arnold hernandez was driving this minivan when it struck a 72-year-old woman in a crosswalk. the victim suffered some minor injuries. hernandez will face a judge on monday. >> police also investigating aftera woman in dorchester was hit by a car. the accident happened on quincy street just before midnight. the victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. the driver did stay on scene and is cooperating with police. a wild crash in wareham. police say it was a 17-year-old with a suspended license that sideswiped another car. the teen took off speeding with his headlights off. police say he was thrown from the vehicle and found lying in the road with serious injuries. e.'s rushed him to the hospital. he is listed in serious condition. >> the mayor of quincy is facing criticism after a controversial ceremony. the mayor dedicated north

temperatures drop for the last half of november. below average temperatures on the way for us. currently, notice mid-40's. we don't budge a whole lot overnight tonight. as we head into tomorrow, temperatures don't move a whole lot either. but the chill is on. i'll explain in just a second. visibility is reduced in some spots. fog is locally dense. you can see in worcester, half a mile of visibility currently. something to keep in mind if you are on the roads tonight. use those low beams. we d't going on aside from the fog and the clouds that are moving in for us. take a look at what's happening to our west. a significant storm system. a wasn'ter storm system. dropping more than two feet of snow in one spot in minnesota. if you can believe it. yes, snow on the way for some of us. but i mentioned that stays in central and western

some blowing snow, reducing visibility and bringing some significant accumulations up through the green mountains of vermont, adirondacks, as well as the berkshires. now, the good news about the cold temperatures all week long is, what snow does fall and accumulate should be sticking around in the new england ski resorts. maybe for turkey day, some skiing could be in store for us. that wasn't the case last year. so let's run through the timeline. overnight tonight, scattered showers not out of the question. i mentioned temperatures not moving a w l and then into early tomorrow morning, we do see a band of rain work in. as well as that snow and cold air pushing that snow line closer and closer to worcester county. worcester hills, could see some light accumulations. and in worcester, there is the possibility of some flakes flying there as well. even some flurries that could be on the way for us in boston early on monday. that is how much colder things get. now, we get some rain out of this. maybe a tenth of an inch. up to a quarter of an inch.
