over the weekend. arresting a 23-year-old woman from worcester overnight in connection with the beating death of 44-year-old gloribel orengo of lowell. the 23-year-old amirilies huertas-perez has been charged right now with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. we are told that that charge may be upgraded. police say orengo was asked to leave party saturday night at an apartment in lowell when she was attacked by a group of people outside in a parking lot. she was with her 28-year-old son who the time of the deadly attack. friends of the victim here at the courthouse today tell us the mother of four and grandmother of three didn't deserve any of this. >> if you would have seen her, she was the best of the best people. like, she is the best of the best. her daughter is here. her nieces are here. her family is here to support her. you wouldn't expect it. >> reporter: what brought you here?

and her family. >> reporter: again, so perez is expected to be arraigned at some point this afternoon. we are told that police aren't ruling out that the possibility here more people may be arrested and charged as well in connection with the murder. live from lowell this afternoon, steve cooper, 7 news. >> kris: we have another breaking story we are following for you. a man has been killed in a snow-cat machine accident. it happened at nashoba valley in westford. there is no word yet on how this accident happened. following this story and bring you any new information as it continues to unfold. new this noon, the former massachusetts house speaker sal dimasi is now a free man. just a short time ago, dimasi was released from a north carolina prison and now he is heading back home to massachusetts. he was granted a compassionate release as he battles tongue and prostate cancer. dimasi was convicted of fraud, conspiracy and extortion in 2011 and served five years of the eight-year sentence.

>> kris: alarming allegations of abuse onboard a school bus. parents demanding change now after a mother says her young son was sexually assaulted by another student. now, the boston renaissance charter school is looking into those claims. byron barnett is live in hyde park with more on these disturbing details. byron? >> reporter: yes. they are disturbing. now, the mother thofer alleged victim says a six-year-old student sexually assaulted not only her son but other children as well. and now other parents h the school are calling for change fbs: they say the school and the bus driver failed these children. >> i cried. i lost it. >> reporter: it is painful for this mom to speak out. she is not showing her face to protect her young son. she says he was sexually molested by another little boy while on the school bus to the renaissance charter public school in hyde park. >> there was another child touching him. and asking him to perform, you

>> reporter: her son is 7 years old. the other boy, six years old, threatened violence and touched four other children. >> he was threatening him. saying, if you don't do, this i'm going to shoot your mother. report tht mom says another child on the bus saw what was happening and told an adult who then told the school. the school says they took immediate action and contacted police, saying "we have taken this matter very seriously and have taken appropriate measures to ensure student safety. we also hav the privacy of the children involved." >> it is a very difficult situation. you know, there is clearly, potentially going to be some need for therapy. a lot of therapy. >> reporter: this mom agrees but says no one has offered to help her son. she says she is traumatized and now afraid to be by himself. >> i think something needs to be to the driver. he needs to be disciplined. i think the school should take more of a responsibility as far as getting the kids to counseling.

every bus. >> reporter: today other stunned parents said they agree. >> we need boston monitors on the bus. public school buses. the only way we could do that is us as parents, need to advocate for it to boston city hall. >> reporter: now, the renaissance charter school is not part of the boston public school system, but bps does provide transportation for this school. and officials at the boston public schools say they are reviewing this matter. they also say that their buses have monitors on them. they say schools can request additional monitors on a case by case basis. that is the latest live here in hyde park, i'm byron barnett, 7 news. >> kris: now to that developing story out of tennessee. a school bus driver now facing charges after a crash that killed five children. that school bus was carrying 35 children in all when it crashed, flipped over on to its side and then ended up smashing into a tree.

figure out what happened. jennifer eagan joins us now with the heartbreaking details. jen? >> reporter: kris, police are reportedly looking into whether the driver was going too fast on a windy road. that driver is in police custody now. investigators from the n.t.s.b. are on scene. the school bus ended up on its side. the roof nearly split in half by a tree. a heart breaking scene. young children on their way home, killed. dozens of others injured when the driver swerved off the of those deaths, three in fourth grade. one was a first-grader: and one was a kindergartner. >> reporter: this morning, the bus was towed from the scene. in the early stages of the investigation, police say they are looking at speed as a strong factor in the crash. overnight, the 24-year-old bus driver was arrested. >> john thony walker is being charged with five counts of

again, with the winds out of the west. we saw that warm weather last week. here is the position of the jet stream. that has dipped significantly. bringing in some cool canadian air. that will be in place through this workweek. we are looking at that cool weather sticking around. you can really see very nicely, who is seeing that cool weather. where you see that blue, that dip throughout new england. that is exactly where we are seeing that cool air. 37 degrees in chicago. and that cool air actually all the way into the southeast. very cool conditions. pretty quiet for us intoay mostly sunny skies. windy and cold. winds will start to die down after today. we will catch a brief break as we head into tomorrow afternoon. inton't to, we stay breezy. winds still out of the west. at 10-20 miles per hour. lows for us tonight are going to be a little cooler as well. i think more of us will see temperatures in the upper 20's. fast couple of spots in the low 30's. by and large, i think we are talking about upper 20's. those typical school spots, actually in the mid-20's tonight.

buses have monitors and that schools can request additional monitors on a case by case basis. in hyde park, i'm byron barnett, 7 news. >> kris: investigators in chelsea releasing a key clue that they are hoping can help catch a suspect involved in a deadly hit-and-run. police releasing several pictures of that suspect. take a look at your screen. you see the red arrow pointing to a man who they say was spotted at a mexican restaurant before hitting and killing a back in june. that 25-year-old victim died the next morning. right now police are still searching for the suspect's car. a boston police officer who was shot in the line of duty last month is heading home just in time for thanksgiving. boston police share this touching photo on twitter saying that officer matt morris was released from the spaulding rehabilitation hospital yesterday. look at the smiles on his face there. officer morris said he wanted to thank everyone who helped him in this road to recovery.

richard cintolo were shot last month during a violent standoff. the suspect was killed in the shoot-out. president-elect donald trump facing some criticism today after some controversial comments that were made at a conservative movement conference in washington, d.c.. video taken from the conference showing nazi-like salutes and chants of hail trump. >> reporter: new video surfacing o'. >> a conference of the alt right, a conservative extremist movement with ties to white nationalism. at the podium, self-proclaimed leader of the movement richard spencer using language similar to what was heard in nazi germany. >> for us as europeans, it is only normal again when we are great again. hail trump! hail our people! hail victory! in the crowd, a handle of supporters responding with a straight-arm salute. spencer telling nbc news his words and the crowd's reaction were meant to be what he calls ironic and exuberant.

cohen is concerned about the tone that sets for the administration. >> he said he wanted to bind the wounds of division. yet in bannon, he has appointed someone who fanned the flames of division. >> kris: in a recent interview with the "wall street journal," bannon says he has zero tolerance for racist or anti-semitic overtones of the alt right. a trump spokesperson saying that the president-elect has continued to denounce racism of any kind and was elected because he will be a leader for everyri killed after a 56-car pileup. this was the scene in northern china. the massive crash happened during foggy conditions. witnesses say wet and slippery roads may have also played a factor in that crash. 37 other people were injured. and a close call in pennsylvania. stop what you are doing and look at this video here. fast group of children nearly hit by a police cruiser. watch. you see how close that was. police say they were chasing a stolen car. when a van hit one of the cruisers, causing it to spin out of control.

that vehicle there. just barely missed the children, though. the officer had minor injuries. fortunately, none of the children were hurt. very scary to look at. a florida neighborhood had to be evacuated after. this a garbage truck burst into flames. the fire caught on camera by someone who lives in the neighborhood. officials say it was something inside of the truck that flashed over on to the fire. the fire spread to a nearby parked car as well. tanker truck driver lucky to be alive after his truck which was full of fuel at the time burst into flames. it wasn't paramedics or firefighters who were first on the scene to help out either. in this case, some passer-bies are being hailed as heroes. >> christa: a tanker rolls over on a highway ramp with more than 8,000 gallons of gasoline onboard, fueling those flames. the driver tossed from the wreck lands in harm's way. >> we got massive fire. down in the ditch, i have three bi-standers waving at us. perform these good samaritans out in michigan saved the day. >> the bi-standers actually found him next to his truck.

scene. about 150 feet. they looked back. where he was at was engulfed in flames. >> christa: early reports indicate the tanker was going too fast. but the trucking company says the driver was trying to avoid deer on the ramp. amazingly that, driver was only hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. >> we wear protective equipment. they are doing it with the clothes on their back. >> reporter: emergency crews are thankful those good samaritans were in the right place at the right time. >> if they hadn't acted, we could be looking at a very bad there is still good people out there. >> kris: officials have been able to identify the three good samaritans who stepped in and helped save the police chief. the city would like to honor them soon. n.f.l. fans in mexico city targeting a texans quarterback with a laser pointer.
