>> nancy: brave shoppers some have been out there for hours now trying to score that perfect deal. and if you plan on braving the busy crowd today, you might want to bring along an umbrella. cloudy and cool post-thanksgiving day. some vp some patches of rain, too. >> sarah: wren clair is tracking it all. >> reporter: we are seeing some fog still. it isn't letting up. here is the culprit. you can see some winds up to around eight miles per hour in

you can see further inland, worcester county, by and large, seeing calm winds. take a look at what we are seeing. when it comes to fog. where those winds are calm, that is where we are seeing that fog as well. worcester, currently dealing with visibility, down to under a quarter of a mile. not just fog. dense fog as well. if you are traveling out that way or you are headed west from the city, count on see thing some of. this count on the slower commute. especially when you factor in the showers as well. we definitely have reduced visibility on the roads. not nearly as dense, though, as what we have to our west. that... we are looking at some showers. we will keep that snow to our north. northern new england, seeing that snow. we will keep seeing showers, these bands of rain pushing further to our northeast. i'll let you know how much rain we can expect through the weekend coming up. >> sarah: right now, shoppers swarping stores for black friday sales.

>> nancy: and navigating some long lines out there. victoria warren is talking with those shoppers. how are things going? are they slowing down or picking back up again? >> definitely picking it back up. you have a real tough assignment braving those lines. squeezing in some holiday shopping of my own. take a live look behind me. you can see it is packed here at the shore mall right now. people come for the bargains. they say really, this is a day that's about tradition. the black friday faithful lined up, ready to shop until they drop. >> we came midnight when they opened. i wish they opened earlier. we would have been here earlier. >> we have been doing this for, like, years. we dbts want to break it. i almost broke it this year. then i said no, we can't do. that they came for the deals. >> and retailers hope they will spend generalliously. if we are a very optimistic that this could be one of the

for some shoppers, it's about more than dollars and cents. >> i was surprised there was so many children out with their parents. it is a great little thing to do together. >> parents make it a family affair. >> how was that wake-up call at 2:00 a.m.? awful. i like to go shopping. so... >> we had to get woken up twice. we made it. we made it. . >> the adults still going strong. >> yeah. maybe all day. >> and the kids having fun. but not with mom. >> what are you going to do for the rest of the day? >> probably sleep. >> reporter: yeah. but they have a long way to go before they can rest. you know, it is one thing to get all of these shoppers into the stores. they need to get them to spend some money as well. the retailers association of massachusetts, though, they have some good news. they are predicting a really strong year. growth from last year. they say that is on top of the growth that they saw last year from the year before. live from peabody, victoria warren, 7 news.

scoring deals all across the country. and people in alexandria, virginia were lined up outside a best buy which opened its doors at 5:00 a.m. everyone ready to get their hands on mark-down merchandise. electronics are always on the top of wishlists for the early-morning specials. the mall of america in minneapolis took a different approach this holiday season. not opening its stores until after thanksgiving. for the first time in five years, the mall was not open to black friday shoer more than 1rx 500 shoopers showed up early this morning to cash in on the sales. a beloved tv mother has passed away. florence henderson who played carol brady died of heart failure last night. she was 82 years old. and today, hollywood is mourning the loss of a legend. remembering her incredible. talent. ? here is the story of the

s played carol on the brady bunch. her real story wasn't so ideal. born in 1934 in indiana, henderson grew up poor with an alcoholic father and a mother who left when she was just 12 years old. henderson used her singing tall don't entertain the family and help make ends meet. >> i don't remember not singing. and i would sing and pass the hat. i would sing for groceries. >> nancy: the singer turned actress took her talents t in 1959, she was nbc's today girl. she became the first woman to co-host the tonight show in 1962. then in 1969, hendzer son became carol brady. >> i created the kind of mother that i wished i had had. i think that everyone longed for. >> nancy: henderson continued to act and sing for decades after the brady bunch. she cha-chaed her way into our living rooms in 2010 on "dancing with the stars."

into the car and told him to get out. when he wouldn't, that is when he took off. 34-year-old vincent weeks in court, accused of dragging two boston police officers down a dorchester street earlier this week. but weeks' lawyers and family say police arefersed the wrong man. >> he is innocent until proven guilty. all right? he was doing a good job. you all just don't know. >>ep on wednesday, officers were responding to a man with a gun. those officers approached a car. investigators say weeks behind if wheel, took off dragging two officers. . >> both the officers reached into the car. the suspect drove off. >> reporter: the officers were taken to brigham & women's

weeks' sister says the allegations against her brother don't reflect the man she knows. >> all i know is i was on the phone with his girlfriend when the whole thing went down. >> and what did she tell you? >> i just heard the whole thing. we were on the phone. i couldn't say nothing. i'm pregnant. i'm crying. you know, that is my brother. nobody knows my brother like i know my brother. >> reporter: lawyers say that weeks was home with his girlfriend at the time that this incident happened. prosecutors, though, that he has an extensive criminal history. he is being held on bail. live from dorchester, nicole oliverio, 7 news. >> nancy: nicole, thank you. a state trooper rushed to the hospital after an s.u.v. slams into his cruiser on 93 south in boston. the driver of the s.u.v. was drunk when he rear-ended the cruiser. the trooper has suffered back and neck injuries but is in good condition. the driver was arrested and charged with operating under the influence. also: a state in springfield

administration. on the trail trump rallied against outsourcing jobs overseas. >> our jobs are coming back. and our companies aren't leaving. and if our companies want to leave, there are consequences. >> reporter: meanwhile, hillary clinton who was spotted doing a little thanksgiving this week, and tweeted yesterday "i was greeted by this heart-warming display on the corner of my street today." thank you to all of you who did this. trump's team is now working towards his inauguration. they are aiming t of millions for the historic day. >> nancy: investigators in france have stopped a terror attack. a paris prosecutor saying authorities arrested five men last weekend. they believe those men were planning a terror attack in france as early as next week. it is believed that suspects were receiving orders from an islamic state group member based in iraq or syria. an iranian media reporting a deadly collision between two passenger trains. video shows train cars tipped over on their side.

>> sarah: here is our group. my husband and i were honored to host a family through this organization. the nonprofit provides short-term housing and volunteer host homes for families and friends of patients receiving medical treatment in the boston area. you see my little red-head there. next to kyla who is getting ea children's. i just found out about this organization. i encourage anyone to open up their homes during the holiday season or beyond because it's such a great organization. >> nancy: oh, it is incredible. it is not just a meal. it is about everyone coming together. i saw some familiar faces over there in that picture, too. >> sarah: yeah. wren was there with us. >> reporter: you are so lucky to join you. honestly, kyla and blare made the night. it was wonderful.

scattered showers today. not a whole lot of moisture, actually, reaching the ground here. every little bit helps for us. we have seen this all morning long. we are also seen this fog all monk morning long. you can see most of that is further to our west. it is dense. worcester dealing with some dense fog. most of this is further west of the boston area. you can see t islands faring much better. they are dealing with much breezier conditions. winds further to our west. worcester county as well as western massachusetts are really, really light and actually, calm. temperature-wise, we are still varied. we started out in the up 40er's throughout the cape and the islands. now they are in the low 50's. it is not terribly breezy today either. they are dealing with sustained winds up to around 15 miles per hour. not too bad. this feels pretty comfortable out there. feeling like 46 degrees here

wind speed as well. so again, even though we turned it cooler last week, soer fa, it has been pretty seasonable into your weekend. your holiday weekend forecast. temperatures in the mid-40's. middleton-lowell. in the low 40's. we will warm up today into the upper 40's today. the cape will be warmer. highs in the low 50's. still cloudy skies. that chance for showers throughout the day. looking ahead, as we head into this evening, we have the chance for some sprinkles. we keep that cloud cover, low pressure over the great lakes. tracks further northward. some instability with that. touching off some showers and snow in northern new england. our next system pushes up from the south. this rides across the coast. as it does so, it is really bringing showers predominantly to the cape, the islands, potentially the coast as well. i really think that's just a slight chance. you can see this is much more of a coastal storm. it does stay off the coast a little. it continues to track further northward. one of the main effects we are going to see with this as we head into sunday, our cooler conditions.

we get winds out of the northwest. that does usher in some breezy weather as well as some cool weather for us. today is morin'able. tomorrow as well. we head into sunday. temperatures drop off a little. highs today in the upper 40's and low 50's. we have another round of patchy fog headed our way. and today's fog is taking a while the forecast showing very mild temperatures into tomorrow. with the slight chance for rain for most of us. again, a better chance for rain across the cape and the islands. and in terms of rainfall totals, they could grab a quarter of an inch. >> sarah: still ahead, a grandmother accidentally inviting a stranger over for thanksgiving. we will show you what happened

>> sarah: a california mother reunited with her family after she disappeared for three weeks. the 34-year-old vanished while out for a jog. police say she managed to free herself of restraints and then

community had been waiting for three long weeks to hear. >> we are ecstatic to report that sherry has been locatened and has been reunited with her family on this day. >> nancy: she was found by a passing driver along the interstate. more than 130 miles from her hometown where she was believed to be captured. the sheriff says she was found with a few minor injuries. the captors were hispanic women armed with at least a handgun. the sheriff says there are likely more suspects. but was able to summon help from a passing motorist. who then notified law enforcement. >> reporter: before thursday, sherry was last seen november 2. neighbors reported seeing her on a morning jog near her home. her husband keith came home that evening to find his two kids had never been picked up from day care. his wife, nowhere to be found. after keith found sherry's phone, he called 911. >> i'm copping, honey. i'm trying. i'm doing everything i can.

news. >> nancy: all right. st there are still plenty of deals going on throughout the day. >> sarah: if you are heading out this afternoon to do your holiday shopping, you may want to bring an umbrella. unfortunately. wren clair is here with more. >> reporter: i have to says, it feels nice to not have the strong winds out there. i feel like every day since i have started here, it's been a very windy forecast. we have had some... a little break in the winds. yesterday and today. but with that comes some fog. in relation to the moisture we are seeing as well. here is what we are seeing. fog to our west. worcester county in particular seeing that. visibility down to quarter of a mile. that is dense fog. if you are headed out that way, headed westward, i would allow a little extra time. especially when you add in these showers as well. we have rep deuced visibility throughout southern new england. we get a break from the snow. again, with mild winds, doesn't feel too bad out there. you are going to want a rain jacket or umbrella. we will continue to see these

scattered showers into tonight. a closer look at your weekend forecast ahead. >> nancy: okay, wren. thank you. 34-year-old vincent weeks was arrested on wednesday. according to investigators, when officers approached his car, he sped off, dragging two officers and hitting another two. nicole oliverio has a look at >> reporter: 34-year-old vincent weeks in court. accused of dragging two boston police officers down a dorchester street earlier this week. but weeks' lawyers and family say police arrested the yong man. >> he is innocent until proven guilty. all right? he was working. he was doing a good job. you all just don't know. prosecutors, though, say on wednesday, air force were responding to a call for a man with a gun. those officers reportedly approached a car. that is when investigators say weeks, who was behind the

>> nancy: a deadly crash in plainville. this happened early thursday morning. a driver going the wrong way on 495 slammed into another car. that driver has now been identified as a 22-year-old man from norton. police say they will not release the identity of the other driver who is still in the hospital. other people who travel on the highway, though, say it is important for drivers to pay attention. >> my thoughts are, when you drive here, it is no joke. you better be wide awake. don't drink. okay? well, pull over. >> nancy: the cause of that crash is still under investigation. >> sarah: also on 7: florence henderson, the iconic star who played one of television's most beloved moms, carol brady on the brady bunch has died. she was 82 years old. henderson's publicist says she died of heart failure at cedar sinai in los angeles surrounded by her children. before the brady bunch, she was already a star on broadway and today, hollywood is mourning the loss of fast legend.

played marcia brady on the brady bunch tweeted a picture of them together saying "you are in my heart forever, florence." barry williams who played greg brady tweeting "deeply saddened. florence was one of the most gracious people i had ever known. proud to call her mom and lifelong friend." >> nancy: kentucky police searching for suspects after a kids' holiday football tournament turned tragic. gunshots started tearing through the crowd. this cell phone video captures the frightening moments. more than a dozen gunshots being fired. two people were killed. four others were hurt. >> most people were here having a good time. as they do most of the time. unfortunately, this tragic situation has happened. we are thankful that more people didn't get hurt. in this situation. this is very tragic, what's happened here. i mean, i'm saddened. >> nancy: police do not know the motive behind the

becomes hostile after a shooting outside a mall in new jersey. the shooting happened outside a department store at the hamilton mall. police have not yet made any arrests. >> nancy: california on the hunt for two people that escaped from prison. investigators say four inmates in a second-story jail window wednesday night. two inmates were immediately captured outside the jail. the two are still on the run right now. the men are considered dangerous and desperate. they were facing false imprisonment and weapons charges.

>> a rope rescue. it is considered a last resort. within seconds, jim was being lowered down, scalinging the burning building. >> he was burning. at one point, you could hear him yell "i'm burning." i seen him looking up at me with the hood up. i just said to him, let's go. >> okay. lower him down. good. we are down. down. . >> looking back up and seeing the fire out the windows. the rope was on fire. the reality really set in that wow, we just really saved guy's life. >> nancy: the firefighters got the chance to meet the man they saved. jim duffy. >> i said, thank god it was a miracle. i called it a miracle on 93rd. >> nancy: officials say the fire was caused by an

>> nancy: now that is turkey is almost gone, it is time to focus on santa claus. because old st. nick stopped by the cambridgeside galleria this morning. to say hell lowe, though, to black friday shoppersened and see who has been we are all nice around here. no one on the naughty list. >> sarah: i'm a little nervous. last year, she was such a little baby. she didn't know what's going on. now i'm scared she might cry. >> reporter: or pull on his beard. one of the. two we will continue to see scattered showers. they are really light. northeastern massachusetts has seen the bulk of. this you know what? we are talking about rain today and actually, through the weekend. we are not talking about snow. that is what northern new

showers right now. bill rickca, some light rain headed their way. here in boston, managing some light to moderate rainfall as well. precipitation rains. .15 of an inch per hour. very light rain for us here. as we head into the rest of the day, well, we are still warding off some fog here. visibility down to under a half mile in worcester. so most of this is to our west. actually, west of the boston area. you can see the cape faring much better. they have some stronger winds. whereas to our west, they are still looking winds to calm winds. it is taking a little while for this fog to mix out. they will continue to see this into the midafternoon potentially. definitely allow a little extra time if you are headed further west into worcester county. into western massachusetts. there is some patchy fog to contend with. temperatures much cooler to our west as well. we are in the mid-40's right now. and you can see across the cape, they are much more mild. in the low's. varied temperatures today. with these mild winds, it

upper 40's. seasonable for us. earlier this week, we were dealing with temperatures below our average highs. you know what? today and tomorrow, we will be treated to some mild temperatures. some pretty mild winds. it is going to feel comfortable. feeling like 50 degrees in new bedford today. excuse me. their highs are going to be in the low 50's. it will feel like upper 40's. as we head into the rest of the day, still looking at the chance for scattered showers and some drizzle mixed in there as well. low pressure over the great lakes continues to push further northward. then we s this one is going to be predominantly moving across the coast. this is a coastal storm. i don't think we will get much rain associated with. this we do have the chance for a couple of sprinkles here across the coast. you check out what happens, though, further to our west. really no moisture reaching there. so this is system that pulls through tomorrow into tomorrow night, really bringing more rain to the cape and the islands. they could be grab a quarter of an inch of rain. as we head into the rest of the sunday forecast. you can see sunday, at 7:00
