valley. some of that beginning to lift and mix out just a touch so hopefully that won't be a concern for the rest of the evening patchy fog though all throughout the night. you might run no a dense spot if you are out traveling around late night hours. now the wettest weather of today is sliding offshore but we still have light showers for cape cod and the islands at this point and still some mist and drizzle that's just hanging around. it feels as though you are walking through a cloud because you pretty much are. now as we get through the weekend i think we can get some peeks of sunshine for saturday, more sun to come for sunday but you see this system that tries to develop and tries to bring us some rainfall. i think some of us see some light showers once again tomorrow, breezier, dryer conditions on the way for sunday. overnight tonight isolated light showers, p patchy fog, 35 to 43 not concerned for any freezing drizzle or rain tonight and tomorrow showers staying to the south and east of the i-95 corridor and some peeks of

now more beneficial rainfall could be on the way for us next week. we'll have to get to more detail on that in the extended forecast in just a bit. >> anchor: also on 7, a big day bargain hunters have been waiting for all year. it's black friday. massachusetts law prohibits stores from opening on thanksgiving but stores a lot of them did open at midnight. jennifer egan live where customers lined up early. if you look over your right shoulder, jenn, there is a red carpet. roll that out for who i wonder. >> shore mrs. a opened up at midnight. some shoppers we spoke with said they didn't think the lines were as long as in years past but if we take a look down the hallway here from what we saw, certainly seemed pretty busy all day. i got up and decided i would go to the mall today just to be with the crowd. >> reporter: south shore plaza in braintree bustled with people

my kid. >> reporter: we won't tell but we can say we saw plenty of people with arms full. some of the most dedicated shoppers lined up at midnight outside stores at the wrentham outlet mall. back in braintree south shore plaza's director of mashing said deals last all weekend. not as many retailers are doing the crazy door busters, they are extending their sales throughout the weekend. but black friday is definitely a tradition for a lo the only lines we encountered was like dunkin' donuts. it was crazy. but at the store it wasn't that bad. it was really cool. >> anchor: many shoppers told us the lines didn't seem as long this year and they found many of the gifts on their list. it's great. i like the hustle and bustle and having fun. >> anchor: the national retail federation acknowledges that black friday has evolved to

a lot of people shopping on-line now, but as you can see there certain are crowds still here even now looking for deals. live in braintree, jennifer egan 7 news. >> anchor: a black friday brawl. you can take a look here. you can see a big group of people running, throwing punches outside of an entrance of a jc penny. california, not in a massachusetts. hundreds of people stopped to watch the fight and it looks like at least ten people were involved. a witness says security eventually broke it all up. right now we're following breaking news coming to armed robbery at a gulf gas station. a 33-year-old suspect actually turned himself in today. you can see him there in the surveillance video with a long gun threatening the cash register. the person at the cash register so no one was hurt and the suspect now being charged with armed robbery. >> anchor: now to the patriots big divisional show down. you work hard to do whatever it is on a given day if you can practice, great. if you don't have the

two to her family, and countless fans around the world florence henderson was by all accounts a lovely lady. she was already a star of broadway and tv when she landed the role that would make her an american cultural icon. carol brady, an upbeat mother to six children and blended family. "the brady bunch" aired for just five seasons but henderson entertained a generation, reruns spinoffs and her big tv break came in 1959 on nbc's "today" show when she was hired as the first-ever "today" girl doing weather reports and features stories. henderson was also the first woman ever to guest host the tonight show before johnnie carson took over. and a recent tv interview she credited hard work for her success. 99% sweat, determination and 1 personal inter. if you have the desire, have you

>> anchor: also this evening, a driver accused of hitting four boston police officers with his car appeared in court today. police say the roxbury man sped off when they approached him, dragging two officers down the street. nicole oliverio with more on the charges he is now facing. >> reporter: vincent weeks in court accused of dragging two boston police officers down a dorchester street earlier this week. but week's lawyers and family say police arrested the wrong man. he is innocent until proven job so you all just don't know. >> reporter: prosecutors though say on wednesday officers were responding to a call for a man with a gun. those officers reportedly approached a car. that's when investigators say weeks who was behind the wheel, took off dragging two officers. they were leaving in the car as both officers were reaching in the car the defendant drove off. >> reporter: those officers plus two others were all taken

injuries. hours later police found the rental car they say weeks was driving and made an arrest. weeks sister said thal gays against her brother don't reflect the man she knows. all i know is i was on the phone with his girlfriend when the whole thing went down. >> anchor: what did she tell new. i just heard the whole thing. we were on the phone. i couldn't say nothing. i am pregnant. i am crying, you know, that's my brother. nobody knows my brother like i know my brother. >> anchor: lawyers say weeks was home the time that this incident happened. prosecutors though argue he is has an extensive criminal history and being held on bail. that's the latest live from dorchester, nicole oliverio, 7 news. >> anchor: new at 5:00 a manchester, new hampshire mom facing childen diggerment charges after police say they found her two young children in disgusting conditions. samantha told us earlier this week she was doing her best and her husband was to blame for the

wednesday. the kids a two-year-old and four-year-old, are now in state custody. >> anchor: the south carolina man accused in the 2015 deadly church shooting will stand trial for murder. a judge ruled that dylan roof is competent to stand trial. the 22-year-old is accused of killing nine black church members during a bible study at a church. a michigan man in church charged with killing and shooting a police officer. d'angelo davis fating a judge each could face life if prison. officer colin rose responded to a car break in tuesday night. i davis shot him in the head. >> anchor: investigators in france say they have stopped a terror attack. a paris prosecutor saying authorities arrested five men last weekend and they believed those men were planning an attack in france as early as next week. it's believed the suspects were receiving orders from isis. >> anchor: president-elect trump's transition to the white house is well under way. he spoke with world leaders from griese, hungary, panama and sweden today. he also talked to the prime minister of slovenia where his wife was born. the transition team says the

>> anchor: police in criminal criminal on the hunt for suspects after a missing is reunited with her family after three long weeks. she disappeared during a jog and was found thanksgiving morning. >> anchor: so the search now is on for her alleged kidnapers and it's just beginning. nancy chen now with more details. the words an entire community had been waiting three long weeks to hear. we are ecstatic to report that cherry has been located and has been reunited with her family on this day. cherry found by a passing

than 130 miles from her hometown where she was believed to be captured. the sheriff says she was found with a few minor injuries. left by two of her captors, both hispanic women, who were armed with at least a handgun. the sheriff said there are likely more suspects. see was bound with restraints, but was able to summon help from a passing motorist who then notified law enforcement. >> reporter: before thursday see was last seen november 2. neighbors reported her husband keith came home to find his two kids had never been picked up from day carement his wife nowhere to be found. after keith found her phone he called 911. i am coming honey, i'm trying, doing everything i can. >> reporter: that was cherry's husband keith days after she went missing. we're trying the best we can and i'm so sorry i'm not there. >> reporter: she has been reunited with her family and although well wishes and social media messages of prayers have been answered, questions still

>> anchor: damp and dreary for us today and we do have some more light showers on the way tomorrow for some of us, although travel conditions not bad. it doesn't look like there is a concern for any freezing drizzle freezing rain overnight tonight or early tomorrow. mild temperatures next week, yeah, but it comes along with a bit of a catch and that would be maybe some beneficial rainfall. we do have some patchy fog out there, locally dense. worcester and orange with the thickest fog right now up through jaffrey, new hampshire and out to the connecticut river valley. something to keep in mind overnight tonight i think we're going to keep the fog an. there is so much moisture down near the surface at this point it feels like you are walking threw a cloud. temperatures are in the upper 40's, boston stretching down through providence, rhode island. new bedford saying at 48. 41 in worcester and fitchburg so again not concerned about any of this moisture freezing on the surfaces overnight tonight. the wettest of the weather for today is sliding offshore. you can see that weak wave right there bringing some light

nantucket, but for the rest of us there is still misty and drizzly and foggy through the overnight hours. we'll run through the time line here keeping the cloud cover in place through most of the day tomorrow although we may be able to squeak out a few peeks of sunshine. you see those light showers that try to approach. this system is well offshore, but it does throw some rain in our direction and that is mainly south and east of the i-95 corridor. not a lot of rain on the way and many of us will stay dry throh tomorrow. maybe some possible sprinkles in the interior, but mostly dry, very slight chance of that. light showers, better chance for southeastern massachusetts, cape cod and the islands and again it's not a lot of rain on the way. we've only picked up about a dime's worth of rain so far in the last couple days and maybe another dime on the way. a tenth of an inform or so. you see rain totals here. we have two, we have. 2 in worcester, so close to a quarter

here we go as we head through the entire month of november really could use a whole lot more rain as you can see we're almost two inches below normal for the month of november, now the question is can we catch up or run out of time here but there could be some significant rain on the way for us for the middle of next week. it's just, does it happen before the calendar flips over to december? we're already seeing some of that energy that is making its way through the west coast right now so for travel weather tomorrow if you are headed in friends that are headed from that direction you can see that rain high elevation snow along the west coast and just the drizzle and mist for us here until tomorrow looks like the crown of maine getting significant snow. tonight isolated showers, patchy fog, 35 to 43 and tomorrow showers staying south and east of the i-95 corridor, rough line there. here is a look at the 7 on 7 forecast. a lot sunshine in store for monday then into tuesday wednesday, thursday, maybe a

plus. we'll cross fingers for it. >> anchor: well, it's a 911 call that captures the holiday spirit. a young boy actually called his local sheriff's department and then invited them to his family's thanksgiving dinner. now the department is thanking billy for his generous offer. >> anchor: and while they didn't actually eat together, they had a very special surprise for him. tim caputo here to tell us more. adam, jadiann, this holiday is all about giving thanks and that's what a nine-year-old play boy wanted to do and police. it wasn't your typical 911 call and not your typical emergency. nine-year-old billy had a kid's dilemma. he wanted someone to play with. will you come over. >> reporter: he invited us to come see him and have thanksgiving dinner with him. all of thaws weren't busy headed over there. so two deputies with the walton county sheriff's department went to his home. they let him state in the drivers seat of a patrol car and

whistles. he was loving the sirens and lights. we showed him how to use the pa system and he kept calling for his little brother. billy wants to grow up to be a police officer. we spoke with aaron ethridge this afternoon who said they gave billy a badge and happily posed in pictures with him. he is very proud to have that on. when his mother went to go take the picture of us all three in front of the patrol car he actually was the one that did the policeman stance first andy kind of copied him. >> reporter: the deputy said they normally deal with people on their worst days and this wa billy wasn't the only one who walked away with a hulk size sh. it made our day as well. we had some other ununits come in later and that was the first thing we told them about. >> reporter: the cher's department. brassed this chance encounter but they want to remind people that 911 is for emergencies only. they wrote on their facebook page while we do not encourage this use of 911, we are so honored at that invitation. live in the newsroom, tim caputo 7 news. >> anchor: tim, still ahead here at 5:30 an accidental

direction. i think the light showers best chance to see any of that action will be south and east of the i-95 corridor. i push this lineup just a little farther to the northwest, just in case we get some sprinkles in that direction, but most of us, especially in the interior, are dry tomorrow and we may even get some peeks of the sunshine wondering where the sunshine has gone so this weekend improving more as we get into sunday will take out those showers there just breezy for us with more sunshine in store and chilly temp we do have some more mild weather on the way for the middle of next week, but it comes along with some very wet weather as well. we'll get to more details on that in just a few minutes. >> anchor: 7 news now turns to a pipeline protest. people chaining themselves earlier today to the td bank in downtown crossing voicing concerns about the controversial dakota access pipeline. >> anchor: td bang providing funding. that's why they are there. tip caputo live with more on
