>> anchor: right now at 4:30 a swampscott man accused of causing a deadly crash in east boston this summer called to court today. two tourists died in that crash. >> anchor: now the man behind the wheel is facing charges. steve cooper has more on what happened in court. stephen pleads not guilty to seven different charges in suffolk superior court including two counts of motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence. he then struck the rear of the shuttle at a minute mull of 76 miles per hour in a 40 mile-per-hour zone. >> reporter: prosecutors say the 27-year-old was speeding and had a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit when he plowed into a hampton inn airport shuttle van back in august just outside the ted

two passengers both from texas were thrown from the van and pronounced dead at the scene. >> reporter: were you. no comment. >> reporter: he wasn't talking after posting $5,000 cash bail. but prosecutors say his story that another car hit his simply isn't true. after review of all of the video evidence as well as other statements there has been no evidence that a third vehicle was involved in this crash. >> reporter: did you say another car hit you? he has to comment point. >> reporter: that's what they said in court. we have to comment. i won't comment on the evidence. >> reporter: no car hit him? i am not colting on the evidence. i did not say that. you said that. >> reporter: he told a witness at the scene another car hit his car first has now been ordered by the judge not to drive until this case has been resolved. he returns to court early next year. in boston, steve cooper, 7 news. >> anchor: and police are searching for an unhappy customer who allege lethrew scalding hot tea at a dunkin'

her service so she threw the hot tea, which seriously burned the worker. this happened inside the dunkin' donuts at dudley square station. the woman facing charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon now. federal investigators are returning to the pilgrim nuclear power station in plymouth. the nuclear regulatory commission arrived today at the plant to begin a throw week inspection. it's the only nuclear power station in massachusetts. the company which operates pilgrim announced last year it will close the plant 2019. >> anchor: also on 7 hundreds of people gathering after hampshire college decided to remove flags if campus. now veterans, relatives, students and locals all coming to the voicing cleanse over that decision saying this he will continue to fight for the flag. christa delcamp has the latest. >> reporter: freedom is not free the lesson that hundreds of veterans, their families and friends and other local residents hope to teach students at hampshire college on sunday afternoon. they took down my flag.

hearing. the judge found the 22-year-old competent to stand trial. jury selection is now under way and roof faces 33 federal charges after shooting and killing nine people inside an historically black church in charleston, south carolina. prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty. a new judge will hear the retrial of former you of cincinnati police officer ray tenze who shot and killed an unarmed black man. the previous judge reduced herself saying the new trial should have a blank slate. a and manslaughter charges against tensing and a mistrial was declared earlier this month. tensing testified he feared for his life when the man tied to drive away during a traffic stop back in july of 2015. his body camera capturing the incident. his defense says that man tried to use his car as a deadly weapon forcing him to fire his weapon. prosecutors say evidence contradicts his story. >> anchor: the u.s. army set an early deadline for people to

they notified protestors all lands not of the cannonball river will be closed to the public starting december 5 due to safety concerns. now protestors have been fighting for months with the fear of the pipeline polluting their drinking water and native american cultural sights. authorities say anyone seen on the land after that deadline will be trespassing and may be prosecuted. police are searching for two kidnapping suspects after a missing woman was found on a highway in california. investigators say two women abducted cherry for a run earlier this month. a driver then spotted the 34-year-old on thanksgiving night. police say she was chained and beaten. police say they are reviewing surveillance video to track where she was being held captiv. there are a lot of highly unusual circumstances. hours, weeks of investigation that lay out there and the victim of course is the best witness. she is the one that can help break this case wide open. >> anchor: police are still looking for a motive behind that kidnapping.

crash course in texas. police say a man stole it and drove it the wrong way down the highway crashing into a car killing the woman inside. >> reporter: released from the hospital with cuts on other hand and a sore shoulder she remembers driving in the middle lane heading norton the highway. we didn't see it because it didn't have its lights on so we didn't see it until the last minute. with the massive tractor heading toward her she swerved to the las slammed into the passenger side. >> reporter: i stopped and i asked my sister, i was like are you okay, and i saw her side was all the way down, like her side of the car was down and she was laying back. >> reporter: witnesses say the man jumped down from his seat in the middle of the freeway and ran across the median. i was in shock and i was crying and screaming and i

halloween do off i'm -year-old girl from maine getting a send chance. >> anchor: she had to miss trick-or-treating due to health problems but her friends and family came together to make sure that she didn't miss out completely on all of the fun. sara french has the full story. >> reporter: object 31. a day when most kids are out strolling as goblins and ghosts collecting candy. but this year, 7-year-old y was not out getting her favorite candy. star burst the. she was in the hospital. >> about as eartheth shattering of a change as you can imagine. >> reporter: the day holly's six-year-old daughter was diagnosed with high risk neuroblastoma. she thought kenzie would be out of treatment in time to trick or heat. i was at the hospital. i felt sad. with everybody else trick-or-treating. >> reporter: so her friends, family and neighbors decided to give her a second chance at

a 28-year-old police officer who shot and killed artan rushing to the scene within a seconds after he was nearby answering a call on a gas leak. the ohio state campus swarmed by heavily armed swat officers. students piling up chairs as they hide in classrooms. all this after the university tweets a warning about an active shooter situation and tell students to run, hide, fight. we heard the chaos. shouts, screams, shots, that kind of thing. >> reporter: police say the emergency was triggered by a man who drove up on the de attacking students and staffers with his car and a knife. a male suspect drove a vehicle over the curb, west 19th wet of college avenue, struck pedestrians. he exits the vehicle and used a butcher knife to start cutting pedestrians. >> reporter: investigators say the only shots were fired by an officer who got there in less than a minute, engaged the suspect then shot and kill him. we believe the threat was
