3 and taking a look in travelers rest--here and northern greenville were hit the hardest in the upstate--crews are working through the night to remove downed trees 3 and here's a look in pickens county--you can see things moving along but drivers are keeping an eye out for slick spots. 3 and joining us now with a look at what's happening across our area at this hour...is chief meteorologist kendra kent.

3 so far several inches of snow has fallen in western north carolina, causing major issues on roadways. the upstate has seen brief snow in areas, but the majority has been sleet and freezing rain. some trees and limbs have gone down causing power outages for parts of the upstate.tonight there will be light snow off and on in the upstate, while heavier snow will continue in the mountains. by saturday morning most of the precipitation will be over, but some snow showers will linger near the tn border. icy roads will be likely saturday morning as temperatures will be in the 20s area-wide.expect highs to get above freezing for all locations by late saturday with some afternoon sunshine. black ice will be an issue by saturday night once

maintenance facility, its been very active. trucks are in and our refueling and hitting the primary routes, number one being the i ierstates.- scdot says their vrews in this district are on rotating 12 hour shifts.-they are using snow plows and applying salt and other anti icing materials. -in this district particularly they also have construction personal driving pickup trucks with salt spreaders.-i have also been in touch with 3 emergency management for sptg co, cherokee and union counties. all three counties emergency management directors tell me they are currently very quiet. they aren't responding to any major incidents. in cherokee and union they say the roads are icy but also say that drivers are taking their advice and are staying off the roads. 3 diana back to you 3 3
