it's the big push to caucus night for iowa democrats tonight. after presidential hopefuls lincoln chafee and jim webb dropped out of the race, a smaller party will take the stage at the jefferson jackson dinner. hillary clinton, martin o'malley, and bernie sanders are headlining the event in des moines this evening. crews have been working since wednesday to make sure the space is ready for more than 6-thousand guests expected to attend. 'its a lot of work going back and forth with the iowa democratic party, working on the floor plan, how many seats we need available for each campaigns guests, how many rounds we need to put out for the dinner. the event is one of the largest dinners the iowa events center will host this year... serving 2-thousand meals in just 45 minutes. on top of bringing in extra staff, the venue is also working with the secret service to make sure the jefferson jackson dinner goes off without a hitch. the iowa

republican frontrunner in iowa. a des moines register-bloomberg among likely republican caucus goers. that's nine points ahead of donald trump.... who has dropped to 19- percent. the quinnipiac poll gave carson an eight point lead over trump... carson says people are getting on board with his message... so many people are, are really paying attention to what i'm saying because none of the things that i'm saying are, are wild crazy things. they are very logical things and if people really sat down and thought about them, rather than allowing themselves to be whipped into a frenzy. i think most people would say hey, that makes sense. today, carson will be at the west des moines barnes and noble for a booking signing at one. it will be his first public stop in iowa since the state fair in august. a new veterans memorial will soon replace the one that stirred up all the controversy at a city park

in knoxville. veterans in knoxville put a lot getting this new monument. the 150 pound, vietnam era style bronze statue is meant to symbolize the fallen soldier. this past summer, controversy began when a silhouette of a soldier kneeling at a cross was placed at the park. an anonymous person in knoxville complained that the cross was on government property. then a washington d-c based group didn't remove the cross. now, this new memorial may spark a whole new controversy. 03:12:38-3:12:42 'well have a rather unique plaque, because 'ours is basically every other one the company makes in the whole world says battlefield cross, we were asked not to put the word cross on it.' as for the old memorial of the cross...the city says it's still working with its attorneys to figure out the best

course of action. police say a former basketball coach accused of scamming parents...his landlord and even a church in iowa.... has moved his con to las vegas. glendon alexander has a long history of scamming people. we first introduced you to him last year...when he was running the a-b-c-d basketball academy in urbandale. to train their kids, but it turned out to be a scam. alexander skipped town and was later arrested in dallas. this week...he admitted to setting up the semi-pro basketball league 'ameri-league' in las vegas under the fake name 'cerruti brown'. those who worked with alexander here say the news isn't shocking. 'you would hope that people change. they do things differently, but, yeah, coming across the story i was not surprised to see that what had happened.' among those who reportedly signed with ameri-league was

cool in the 50s and winds are breezy from the northwest. through the day, skies will clear and temperatures will reach the low 60s this afternoon with more sunshine late today. millions are dodging a bullet for now...as a hurricane along mexico's pacific coast... is being downgraded to a tropical storm. patricia had been packing winds gusts nearly 200 miles per hour but are now down to 50 miles per hour. it is the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the western hemisphere. government officials are warning residents and tourists in puerto vallarta and manzanilla to evacuate. in france, friends and families held a church service in honor of the victims of a deadly bus crash. more than 40 people died yesterday when their bus hit a truck head on and caught fire. the bus was carrying about 50 elderly passengers headed on a day trip. the truck driver and his three-year- old son, also died in the accident. eight others were hurt in the crash.

as police search for the gunman, university officials in tennessee are looking for ways to protect their school following a fatal shooting on campus. police say a gunman shot and killed one student, and injured two others at tennessee state university thursday. the two injured students are expected to be okay. the school's president said they plan to use one million dollars to add extra security. " we have hired additional police. we have hired additional security guards. we have installed a fence around the south side of campus. we have instituted lights... far more lights and cameras." nashville police are investigating. they beileve the shooting involved two gunmen and started after an argument over a dice game. the drama continues in washington on how to tackle the debt ceiling... the white house has issued a veto threat... fearing congress won't act in time to raise the debt

welcome back to today in iowa saturday we're back with centsable health and our fareway expert whitney packebush. and today we are talking about kale. the darker the vegetable the more nutrients it has. rich in minerals and fibers. i have a kale salad with pears and bleu cheese. it has an earthy flavor. what you see a lot of people doing is making kale smoothies. i used kale, frozen mangos, peaches and banana, and vanilla yogurt. you don't taste the kale but you get the nutrients from it. my one tip is don't skip on the blender time.

"repunsal, your moms names repunsal." she's been asking her parents for one thing. "she's asking me every single day "i want to go to disney land i want to go to disney land"" unfortunatly, the answer to that question has always been the same. mom and dad cant afford the trip. again... "this time for some reason i decided to respond to her like she was a grown up" the follow up question from mom took eva's disney desire to 'a whole new world.'
