a shooting in des moines last night left one man dead. officers were called to near the

intersection of 13th street and 10-30. when they arrived, they found a gunshot wound. investigators are interviewing witnesses and the crime scene the scene for any evidence. police have not released the about a suspect. they say more details could be released later today. police are also looking for the suspect in an apparent drive-by shooting. " he just said move move, i said what's going on and he said they are shooting the house and i dove in the kitchen." shots rang out in the 12-hundred block of filmore around 1-30 yesterday morning... officers found five shell casings int he alley behind jeff garretto and kelly o'bryan's home. garrett's car was also hit. police think the shooting was random and have not made an arrest in the case. the man accused of shooting two men at an ankeny mcdonald's is now

gabriel coco is still facing the original two counts of willful injury in the october 24th shooting. police say coco shot 18-year-olds justin phongsavanh and nickolas culver in the parking lot during an argument. the additional charge came after investigators talked to witnesses and looked at security video from the restaurant. an adel man is in custody... accused of leading madison county authorities on a high speed chase friday morning. it started in the community of bevington.... after someone called the sheriffs office to report a suspicious looking vehicle with a man possibly passed out inside. police ran the license plate on the chevy truck...only to find it was reported stolen from buffalo center in winnebago county. during the chase, speeds reached 110 miles per hour. authorities deployed three sets of stop sticks and the pursuit finally ended when the driver - randy barnes- stopped and surrendered near the city of earlham.

diabetes awareness month. it is so food related and you have to have your diet on point. we're going to talk about the three main myths of diabetes.this goes for both types of diabetes. things to keep in mind whether you were just diagnosed or have had it your whole life, i'm going g try to fix some misconceptions. my first is that people have to eat special diabetic or diatectic food and that's just not true. you can have an overall balanced diet that includes whole grains, lean protein, non-starchy vegetables. if you buy things that are no sugar,

low sugar, we always say if you're taking one thing out of a product you're probably adding something else. so those products are probably higher in fat and/or sodium. so you don't have to buy any special products it's just being aware of a healthy diet and keeping in mind your carbohydrates. my second myth is that people carbohydrates or starchy vegetable like that. are even more important because it helps manage your blood sugar....they

are what spike and raise your blood sugar. if you don't eat any it's going to drop really low. you still want to aim for whole grain. but serving size is key. the bread, pasta, and potatoes can definitely fit just counting and measuring carbs so you can get those portion sizes right. the third is that things like milk, yogurt and fruit are healthy is i can eat as much as i want. that's not true because those also have carbohydrates that raise your blood sugar as well. watching your

a shooting in des moines last night left one man dead. officers were called to near the intersection of 13th street and jefferson avenue just after 10-30. when they arrived, they found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound. police have not released the victim's name or any information about a suspect. police are investigating an early morning shooting in waukee. officers responded to a report of shots fired on the 500 block of southeast carefree lane around 1-30 a-m. when they got there, police say they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. responders took him to a nearby hospital. no word yet on his condition.

police say they are now questioning a person of interest but have not made any arrests. they will release more information when it becomes available. two louisiana police officers are facing charges in the deadly shooting of a 6-year-old boy with autism... following a car chase earlier this week. norris greenhouse junior and lieutenant derrick stafford were arrested friday on charges of second degree murder and attempted murder. investigators say the officers shot inside a car...killing jeremy mardis and injuring his father, chris few on tuesday night. police did not find a weapon in the vehicle and are investigating what led to the pursuit and shooting. russia is grounding all passenger flights to egypt until officials say security is improved there. not everyone got the message. travelers trying to fly to egypt on vacation showed up at t te airport in saint petersburg only to learn that their flight was canceled. russia's decision to suspend flights comes after u-s and british suggestions that a bomb may have

brought down the plane in the sinai peninsula a week ago. the plane crashed 23 minutes after taking off and killed more than 200 people on board. president obama says the keystone pipeline will not happen. his announcement brought an end to the 7-year political fight over the project. the proposed 1-thousand-179-mile pipeline would have carried 800- thousand barrels of petroleum a day from canada to the gulf coast. secretary of state john kerry says the project isn't in the country's nationn security interest...and the president agreed. "the pipeline would not make a meaningful long term contribution to our economy. the pipeline would not lower gas prices for american consumers..in fact gas prices have already been falling. shipping dirtier crude oil in our country would not increase america's energy security." canadian leaders say they're disappointed that the u-s rejected the keystone pipeline, but vowed it
