today's top story... the hawkeyes did it again... fans and players are celebrating this morning. the team beat the huskers 28 to 20 in yesterday's black friday game. the win in nebraska marks a perfect 12 and 0 season...the first in the school's history. iowa will now head to indianapolis next week to fight for the big ten title. family and friends are mourning the loss of three people killed in a colorado springs at shooting outside a planned parenthood clinic. one of those includes a police officer who responded to the scene. leanne gregg has the latest. colorado springs police say a gunman, who stormed a planned parenthood office, has been captured alive... but not before killing at least three people.. including officer garrett swasey. this is a terrible, terrible tragedy that's occurred here in co springs here today. obviously we mourn the loss of the two civilian

victims, we mourn the loss of a very brave police officer. the end came nearly five hours after it started... "at 11:38 this morning we received a call for service of shots fires in the area of the planned parenthood, we had officers respond to the scene, when officers arrived, they did encounter active gunfire." teams of heavily armed tactical police rushed scene... a shopping center... where they confronted the shooter... and the standoff began... with the suspect and police firing at each over the course of several hours. i've been shot! we're pinned down-we're getting active gunfire... five other officers were wounded... with 9 people in all injured by the gunman and taken to nearby hospitals. "we saw a lot of individual acts of bravery today and actually a lot of bravery as a team. it's amazing how law enforcement and 1st responders came together today, worked efficiently today, but it still is a horrible tragedy." police say the gunman was armed with an ak-47 weapon... his

shooting is not yet known. leanne gregg, nbc news, colorado springs. colorado springs police have yet to confirm the identity of the shooter. chicago police say they have made an arrest in the murder of 9-year old tyshawn lee. officials released an updated photo of corey morgan... the man police believe was involved in a gang-related revenge killing of lee. authorities say that morgan and two other people were involved in luring the 9-year old into the alley where they shot him several times. chief gerry mccarthy said the gang-related execution style murder of the boy shook the city of chicago and he had this message for the gangs involved. "all along from day one when we knew the circumstances of this being gang interaction, i said 'prepare the plan, don't jeopardize the investigation, but we're going to go and destroy

gang too." one of the other men is in custody on an unrelated charge. officers say they're still looking for the third individual. another shooting took its toll on the city of chicago... "nothing else is working now we got to shut down what matters in this country money. when we shut down money, people make a difference." hundreds of protesters took advantage of one of the biggest shopping days ... blocking off store entrances along the magnificent mile shopping district. protesters say they want answers to why it took a year to release police video. the video showed a chicago officer shooting and killing a black teenager. the victim in the involved was 17- year-old laquan mcdonald the officer involved in the shooting has been charged with first-degree murder. protesters blocked entrances a some of the busiest store like... the disney store... the apple store... nike... and neiman marcus. around the country, black friday just isn't like what it used to be... take a look at the mall of

ariana nichols has sent over 60 thousand crosses to 96 departments in 33 states since she started making them in september. she makes them out of beads and sends them to police and firefighters to carry with them. they come in many different colors. ariana says if she knows if a department has lost an officer she will send extra blue and black crosses. the fargo police department received a bag of 160 crosses along with a handwritten letter. she says they will inspire people to pray and will protect the officers. some of the officers sent pictures with the crosses including this officer who hangs it above his desk. he says it's a nice gesture with all the bad press about the police.
