trump held the rally instead of attending the republican debate prior to the iowa caucuses. the u-s supreme court is honoring justice antonin scalia... in a court tradition dating back to the 19th century, black wool has been draped over the late judge's courtroom chair, the court bench and the door leading into the courtroom. scalia died saturday at age 79. a source close to his family tells c-n-n there will be a public viewing for scalia on friday. his funeral will be held on saturday. tonight the iowa supreme court will take up the wrongful death member. paul gray's family claims his result of doctor daniel baldi over prescribing painkillers. a lower court cleared baldi of wrongdoing but gray's family appealed to the state supreme court. arguments will be heard in a special open evening session. it starts at seven tonight... in the judicial branch building. a monroe county man is in jail... accused of sexually abusing his two

the sheriffs office says the alleged abuse was reported on february 4th. 30 year old justin stickrod is now charged with child endangerment and first degree sexual abuse. he appeared in court this morning for a preliminary hearing and remains in the monroe county jail. urbandale police say they are looking for a seventeen year old in connection with an officer involved shooting at a hotel. a material witness warrant was issued for kiara olson.. investigators say she could provide more information about what happened. officers were called to the holiday inn on saturday morning on a drug complaint. investigators say during a fight, ali yahia fired at officers... police returned fire...hitting and killing him. three officers are now on administrative leave. a 36-year old ida grove man is wanted on attempted murder charges. the sac county sheriff's office says jeremy werneburg hit another man with his car on sunday night in carnarvon. paramedics took the victim to the hospital with serious injuries. werneburg has ties to the ida grove, wall lake, carroll and humboldt areas. a dog gave his life to save its owners during a robbery in

the weekend. a waterloo couple says a group of men broke into their home early saturday morning. one of them hit the woman... and that's when the dog stepped in to protect her. one of the intruders shot the dog... which later died... but the woman's boyfriend credits the dog for saving them. an indianola man had a brush with death...after falling through the ice at lake ahquabi over the weekend. rick rauzi was snowshoeing and taking pictures of geese sunday morning... when the ice gave way. it took 20 minutes for nearby ice fishermen to hear his cries for reach rauzi and kept him afloat until indianola firefighters arrived and pulled him to safety. the 58 year old says he's never been more scared in his life.. 03:12:40 couldn't feel my hands anymore. i was starting to get drowsy. my core temperature went down to 80 i thought i was going to die. not be melodramatic , but i said to my kids 57 rauzi was released from the

it's been a dangerous start to the year for drivers on iowa roads. the iowa state patrol says its responded to almost 800 accidents since the start of 20-16...

a consulting group is asking people to name the five biggest issues along the lincoln way corridor. they'll identify the top three projects along the route. there will be a neighborhood meeting on lincoln way on march 2nd and another meeting march 3rd for businesses. top global oil exporters, including russia and saudi arabia, agreed today to freeze output in order to control a global glut.... and that could impact the price you pay at the pump. the group gathered in qatar this morning. they acknowledged the deal is contingent on other producers cooperating... and iran was notably absent from the meeting. the oil ministers held their highest- level discussion in months on joint action to help prices recover from their lowest in more than a decade. oil prices have been declining for more than 18 months, knocking crude below 30 dollars a barrel for the first time in over a decade. the average price for a gallon of gas in iowa, is 1-67... that's a penny more than yesterday... but still about 50-cents lower than what we were paying this time

"it is our 5th year of existence at iowa state. we're pretty excited to celebrate and let people know who we are." a student run food pantry celebrates five years of serving the cyclone community. and to mark the big birthday, the organization wants to give even more to others. channel 13's megan reuther shares how. the story is new at five. @6:38 "ok, we'll deal with that." you'll find lots of food... @55:31 "mac and cheese, ramen." lining the shelves of this office.... @8:13 "this looks like some good soup too." in the food sciences building at iowa state university. @50:34 "we are the shop, and it stands for students helping our peers." a group of food science and human nutrition students opened the
