a construction worker was nearly electrocuted at drake university this morning. officials say the man was shocked while working on electrical switches on 27th street...., just north of olin hall. the man didn't have a pulse, but a person near him was able to perform c-p-r and revive him. the victim suffered serious burns on his hand, arm and head. we don't have an update on his condition... but officials say he was moving around when paramedics put him in the ambulance. it's estimated that one in five women and one in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives in the united states... advocates for victims of sex abuse hope those statistics grab the attention of lawmakers. the group is pushing for three bills they hope to see move forward this session... stephanie moore has the story.... sexual assault advocates are taking their message to the statehouse... 'i know that it makes a difference, i know that it helps legislatures to hear whats happening on the

issues hasnt been brought to their attention.' director of the iowa coalition against sexual assault. the organization is pushing for three bills this session... increased penalties for sexual misconduct in corrective 'breasts' in the definition of sexual assault and civil protective orders for sexual violence issues have been issues weve been trying to pass for several years so im hoping this will be the year.' barnhill rallied alongside 80 other advocates some of which are survivors of sexual assault.. 'it is so important that we come to these events to give the survivors a voice in situations where their voices werent necessarily heard, or offered or listened to.' tiffany flowers was sexually assaulted when she was in college by a family member and now works for amani community services helping other survivors... she hope sharing her story will help start the conversation for change... 'this is such a great environment to foster that voice and to link them up

those changes in our communities so they can be heard and have that sense of justice in their homes and feel safe.' nearly six months after a deadly hit and run... police say they have arrested the driver responsible for killing a tennessee man. 37-year old ronald hauser of van meter turned himself into police yesterday. he is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and o-w-i. west des moines police found 21- year-old daulton holly dead in the 6- thousand block of raccoon river drive last august. police were able to track down a vehicle from pieces left at the scene. investigators say it belonged to hauser. sergeant jason bryan says it was a long investigation... but police are happy they've now made an arrest.

closure to the family. because that gentlemen is no longer with us unfortunately so we are pleased we are able to have a conclusion to this case and be able to charge the person responsible, who we believe to be responsible. 31:14 hauser is free on bond. university of iowa police say they caught the suspect that recorded women showering at a residence hall 23-year-old robert hightower is charged with burglary, assault, trespassing, harassment, peeping, and invasion of privacy. police were called to burge hall monday night after someone spotting a man videotaping a woman in the shower. police say they found hightower hiding in a restroom, and he fought with officers and ran away. he wa arrested last night. police say hightower is not a student at iowa. the collins maxwell school district placed three schools on lockdown status this morning... administrators tells us a parent called in a threat to several staff members earlier this morning. students at the high school, middle school and elementary school were all kept indoors.... until the

around noon. the story county sheriff's office arrested ortan haywood... on a warrant out of texas. haywood is now in the dallas county jail. a teacher in eastern iowa is accused of stealing student's medication. doug wilkinson of cedar falls was arrested this month in connection to missing prescription drugs at holmes junior high. wilkinson is a high school english teacher. he's accused of stealing student medication - including adderall. according to court records security video shows wilkinson taking pills from the nurse's cabinet. "well i was shocked. i thought i heard everything, but yea i was really shocked and i never thought that would happen, especially in the schools." the school district did not comment on the case, calling it a confidential personnel matter. iowa state basketball star monte morris's push to get clean water to the people of flint is paying off. morris grew up in flint.. where lead pipes are contaminating the city's water, making it unusable for residents.

it finally allows manufacturing dispensing the oil in iowa...meaning it's finally a way for people to get it... and it would legalize the use for people with those three specific diseases. but critics say it only allows manufacturing and dispensing in two locations in iowa...which still makes it tough for widespread access. and, of course, they think more people should be able to get it...not just those with epilepsy, ms or terminal

one thing that's not changing this year is the age at which you can buy cigarettes. lawmakers in the senate decided against advancing a bill that would require you to be at least 21 years old to smoke. "and i don't think it's a good idea to start smoking at any age. but i've also got this feeling that, at 18, you have the right to sign contracts, to go to work. you can get sued at 18. and so, the rights that are given to you at 18 should probably include the ability to buy a pack of cigarettes if you so feel." :01-:25 the bill was proposed by senator herman quirmbach of ames. he wasn't a part of the subcommittee that decided this bill's fate...but he was at the meeting to offer his support. he says he'll continue to push for this law next year and thinks it will gain traction as more
