place slot? >> none of them give it up. all of them think that somehow, trump can be eventually stopped when it's one on one. you've got the contest here tomorrow, and then super tuesday a week from tomorrow. i think it's increasingly -- as nicolle said -- increasingly hard to come up with a scenario where any of the three can stop him, unless they get one on one. some republicans are talking about unorthodox supporters. maybe try to simply stop trump from getting a majority of the delegates. all three scenarios are, at this point, not just unlikely, but may be improbable, unless something changes. we need to caveat it. maybe trump will falter or something strange will happen. if you look at political history, trump is in a commanding position. >> mark, does the calendar favor him, the states coming up next and the fact they turn to winner

>> winner take all is a way that could hurt trump. say in ohio or florida, home state politician could win a winner take all state and get momentum. trump, both demographically and geographically, doesn't have weaknesses. a guy that can win new hampshire decisively and south carolina decisively tells you a lot of what you need to know. he'll probably win here tomorrow. a northeastern, southern and western powerhouse. it's up to the other candidates to decide, do they all stay in, and how do they explain how they eventually stop him? the voters need to decide this. right now, again, on the current trajectory, trump is strong. >> let's hop over to the democratic side. the clinton campaign said they were relieved they won nevada. a lot of people were looking at how it was going to spin and the story changed because of the result. she did well with african-american voters. that'll be important in south carolina this saturday. what's the path forward for sanders? >> i think she made it difficult

45-year-old jason dalton. a husband and father of two, allegedly shooting his victims at random. >> they weren't targeted for any reason other than they were there to be a target. >> reporter: dalton is an uber driver, and police are looking into reports he picked up and dropped off fares in the six hours between the first shooting and when he was caught. one of the passengers spoke with nbc news by telephone. >> i kind of jokingly said to the driver, "you're not the shooter, are you?" he shook his head or said no. got up into the room and they saw the news. i said, that's the car that we were in. >> reporter: uber says they're horrified and heartbroken. they did a background check and police confirm dalton did not have a political record. eight people were shot in three separate shootings. the locations, apartment complex, a car dealership and the parking lot of a cracker barrel restaurant. among the dead, four women

they had car pooled to save money and were swapping cars when the shots rang out. also dead, a father and teenage son who were shopping for a new car. >> you see the stuff on the news all the time. you don't think about it because it doesn't affect you. then this hits not just your community but your friends. >> reporter: loved ones fighting back tears during a sunday night vigil and struggling to make sense of such random violence. >> two survivors are in the hospital. a mother of three shot multiple times is in serious condition. and a 14-year-old girl who was pronounced dead for more than an hour yesterday, doctors were preparing her body for organ donation when remarkably she was able to squeeze her mother's hand. doctors realized she was still alive and rushed her into surgery. >> just awful, awful story. you never wrap your head around why that could happen. blake, thank you. for the first time, the

personally weighing in on his agency's fight with apple over unlocking a phone used by one of the san bernardino shooters. pete williams has more on this. good morning. >> good morning, savannah. the fbi director james comey says the investigation of what happened in san bernardino cannot be complete or thorough without getting a look at the phone. in the post overnight on a national security blog, he says, we can't look the survivors in the eye or ourselves in the mirror if we don't follow this lead. the lead is a phone that was owned by syed farook's employer, and that he used, which the fbi found in his mother's car. agents need apple's help to unlock it. apple is resisting, saying the company, if it does what the fbi wants, it would have to create software. if that software gets in the wrong hands, it could jeopardize the security of any iphone in the world. comey writes on his blog, we don't want to break anyone's

will know, are valium, xanax, klonopin, librium, in the middle of the 20th century. these are used to treat insomnia, mood disorders. we'll talk about some of the specifics. >> okay. anxiety. insomnia, i hadn't used these drugs used for that. >> where this data comes from actually, from 2013, when the study period ended. three most common indications that these drugs were prescribed for her anxiety, mood disorders and insomnia. they're also used to treat other things. they can be used as muscle relaxants, used to treat alcohol withdrawals and things like that. these are the common reasons for the drugs. >> let's get to the heart of the matter. you overuse, overdose, and use with other things like alcohol. >> exactly. basically, what the study found, what the study authors found, is over an 18-year period, from 1996 to 2013, the number of adults who filled these
