downtown putting year's of planning and strategizing to the test... channel 13's justin surrency shows us how the des moines police department plans to keep the area calm in the middle of chaos... the game plans for the ncaa tournament in des moines won't only be on the court... 'between logistics of transportation hotels, team functions, in arena aspects, its kind of been a collaborative efforts.' the police department will be providing a large downtown assist... 'one of the biggest challenges we have with this being at wells fargo is we are bringing thousands and thousands of people into a very dense area downtown.'scouting has been key... 'we did have a team that went down to omaha last year. we were able to witness what the police efforts were there and how they handled traffic flow and brought that info back to our police crew...'so police plan a full court press of the downtown area... while we still do not know which teams will be playing in des moines, the greater des moines convention and visitors bureau has already designated 8 hotels where the teams will stay. it's all to help with the logistical planning ahead of time... the police department says their traffic plan will be similar to what iowans see every year at the state fair four department of corrections workers are recovering from injuries... they were all hurt during a fight at the mitchellville women's prison this week. this is one of the people injured. two were treated at the scene... and two others were treated at a clinic outside the prison. the department of corrections says the incident started with a disruptive inmate in the dining hall who assaulted a staff member. a dozen people in centerville are scrambling to find new places to live... the city is evicting people from 12 mobile homes at the highlander mobile home park because of health and safety violations. the city has been working with the park owner since november to correct the problems. unless they file an appeal... those being

a 700-thousand dollar mistake won't be corrected... iowa workforce development made the six figure error in 20-14... paying out more in unemployment benefits than recipients were supposed to get. some tried to return the money... but at the time were told to keep it. today state leaders decided they would not seek to have the money returned. workforce development also says it routinely sends money to people who shouldn't get it. 46:10-46:28 probable ten percent of what we pay out every day we're paying out to fraudsters, we're working hard to cut that figure back and we're ... to prevent claims workforce development says it wasn't aware of the over-payments until an audit was complete. they also say the problem occurred under previous i-w-d leadership. one-hundred john deere workers could soon tap their unemployment benefits...
