first on 13... the trial begins today for the man involved in a deadly des moines crash last fall. the man behind the wheel claims he isn't the one responsible for the crash that killed his girlfriend. 24 year old troy mure junior is charged with vehicular homicide by reckless driving. this is all that was left of his car after he spun out, slamming into a tree, back in november. the crash killed his passenger, 22-year old scalicity perez. police say he was speeding at the time. they also thought he may have been intoxicated... but those charges were later dropped. mure claims he was being chased and shot at when it all happened. he says he was speeding to get away. this morning he'll face a judge for his bench trial at the polk county

today, a florida man will learn if he will be released from jail while he waits for his trial in iowa to begin. 19 year old kevin ramirez was indicted in federal court last week... he's charged with two counts of "enticement of a minor," and "possession of child pornography." police say he traveled to ottumwa to meet a 13 year old girl in october. that triggered an amber alert... and they were later found in georgia. a hearing set for today will decide whether he'll be allowed out of jail on bail. a knoxville man is recovering this morning after a dangerous moment in his own driveway. it happened around 1 p-m yesterday in the 16-hundred block of oregon drive. fire investigators say a man in his 50s was working on a truck when it suddenly exploded into flames. the fire quickly spread from the vehicle to his coveralls, and his boots. apparently a gas line had broke and released some gas, just enough that it

his boot and his pants on fire the man's two sons were able to help put out the fire before fire crews arrived, but the man had already suffered severe burns. he was life flighted to a burn center in iowa city. no word on his condition this morning. a norwalk family has a mess to clean up after their sunday evening took a turn for the unexpected. police say the driver of this p-t cruiser took a turn too fast on shady lane drive last night. she ended up running over the stop sign at the corner and slamming into a garage. police say both the driver and her passenger escaped with only minor injuries. the homeowners, along with their son were all inside at the time, but were not harmed. charges are still pending people living in johnston might have to leave earlier to get to work on time. today, the city is closing northwest 70th avenue for construction.
