the community of grimes will have to find a new place to workout... today the y-m-c-a announced its closing its grimes location and also ditching plans to build a new town... stephanie moore joins us with an update, steph residents and city leaders in to the city...and some feel like the rug was pulled out from underneath them when the news hit... the grimes y-m-c-a opened in space out of the grimes community complex. however, 10 years ago...city leaders said the 'y' made a commitment to build a brand new facility on the land just south of the wal-mart in town. the 'y' the dedicated park space required by the city for any builder. however, the 'y' announced its closing the location in the land up for sale

'from the outside looking in you made a commitment to the community 10 years ago and you see that commitment disappearing along with the branch that was supposed to be the feeder to that new ymca and its all disappearing here in a couple months is annoying.' the y-m-c-a released this statement saying in part... 'one of the three imperatives in the ymcas 2016-2020 strategic plan is to build the organizational capacity necessary to effectively fulfill the y cause in our community. this involves prioritizing how the ymca allocates its financial, facility and human resources. the association will focus time and resources on projects currently underway. ' the location in grimes will officially close on april 30th, those members are allowed to use their memberships at a different 'y' locations but many i spoke to said it wouldn't be worth the drive... coming up at 5 hear from some of the current grimes y members. the y still has a major

downtown. this dirt field is supposed to be an olympic size swimming pool at the wellmark ymca. however the y hasn't been able secure funding to finish the pool. the y says fundraising efforts are ongoing. a vehicular homicide trial got underway in des moines this afternoon. troy mure junior, age 24, is charged in the death of 22 year old scalicity perez boyd the mother of four was killed in november. the car she was riding in slammed into a utility pole. the first officer on scene described it as one of the worst he's ever seen. witnesses testified about seeing two cars going 70 to 100 miles per hour down 35th street. they say it looked like one of the cars was chasing the other before the high speed crash. mure claims he saw a gun in the car that was chasing him. his bench trial is expected to last about three days. two men are still at large after they walked away from a work release facility in newton, last week.

president obama awarded the nation's highest military honor to a navy seal ... inaugurating him into a brotherhood of heroes.
