legendary abc news correspondent. -- stay with us if you can. six bodies were found inside a burning car in mexico. 15 people were killed in two separate shootings in another northern mexican town. there has been a wave of violence between warring gangs. >> a day of celebration. but as the crowds were marking 199 years of independence, their country's war on drug dependence was claiming more casualties as here in tijuana where police discovered the remains of six bodies in a burned out car. so far, officers have given no reason for the killings the city is seen by law enforcement agencies as a major conduit for drugs heading north to the united states.

there were similar scenes elsewhere. in juarez, a gunman killed five people. it was a family firm and the two brothers who helped run it were among those killed. on monday, five other people died at a shooting at a hardware store. so far, drug violence has killed more than 1300 people and across mexico more than 30,000 lives have been claimed in the last three years alone. -- more than 13,000 -lives has been claimed. the drug gangs seem to have no fear of government forces. this is the scene where a convoy of gunmen opened fire on a convoy of government vehicles. back in mexico city, the crowds were celebrating the long years of independence.
