(groans) (chuckles) come on. why'd they have to show that one? i know.

can we see it again but add a high-pitched female scream? (woman screaming) don't miss the new cbs comedy accidentally on purpose, starring jenna elfman. take a look. after this. (woman screaming) come on! woman: i know this may sound nuts, but i'm thinking of going home with a guy who may be significantly younger than me and i just need to know if the situation is empowering or desperate. is he over 18? yeah. empowering. jon foster: accidentally on purpose is a love story. it is a romantic comedy. it's funny, and it's very romantic and sweet and charming. i'm zack; i'd like to buy you a drink. oh... i'm billie. you don't have to do that. mojito, please. we meet at a bar and sparks fly. hey, you're a really great dancer. yeah, but i'm running out of charming. i think i have some more back at my apartment. that's where the story begins. whoo! claudia lonow: it's based on a san francisco film critic in her late 30s.
8:32 am
you just need to perk up your nipples. ...who has a fling with a much younger guy. yeah, we know some cougars in this world, don't we? we've seen them in the media. oh! so this is the spot where we...? yep. okay. and the next thing... we have a baby. yay! no! i'm somewhere in the middle... that's the sweetest, most perfect-- i love you. what? what?! foster: well, everybody-- we just-- it's such amazing people. we really lucked out. half the time we can't even do a scene because we're just goofing off and laughing, you know? i feel like i hit the jackpot. woman: you're dead. security! what the hell is going on here?! you okay? you okay? hey, how i met your mother is on mondays at 8:00-- 7:00 central now. a half an hour earlier than last year. well, that's cool. as long as we don't have to switch to drinking fake beer on set, right? he's just joking around. obviously we don't drink real beer. what are you talking about? that's the only reason i come to-- oh, right, okay, i got you.

8:36 am
ncis sort of formed this family already, and, in the next few years, we could be forming a family, too. you come back for characters, and i think that this show has great characters and character. i think it's a very smooth passing of the baton. o'donnell: i think it's gonna be a great show. if first impressions mean something, then i think we're off to a pretty good start. did you hear that? (cracking) announcer: the new season of the mentalist is coming to thursday night. that's gratifying, man. no lies, no tricks, no surprises. since when is that the rule? ♪ welcome all again... you're not a detective, you're a clown. oh, oh, look, look. so we're lost without you. let's be honest here. let's go. hey! wait!

(scoffs) no. oh, thank god. this breeze is nice, isn't it? heavenly. jason ran off with our pants again, didn't he? yeah, they're long gone. well, on tuesday nights, cbs has a show that seems ripped from the headlines. quite a segue, cobie. thank you. julianna margulies plays a spouse of a scandalized politician mm... who now has to find her own way as the good wife-- watch this. mm.
8:38 am
(reporters clamoring, cameras clicking) man: are you still involved with prostitutes, sir? sir! answer the question! julianna margulies: the first scene in the script, when they're at this press conference, is what drew me to the show. i have never traded lighter sentences for financial or sexual favors. i have watched all those press conferences, and i wondered why those wives choose to be there. i need to atone for my personal failings with my wife alicia and our two children. the good wife is about a woman who has been let down by her husband. christine baranski: he is resigning from office because of his sexual dalliances. they're having troubles in their marriage, and it's a whole public media storm. you all right? baranski: he goes to jail, and she goes back to practicing law. when i was starting out, i got one great piece of advice. men can be lazy. women can't. and i think that goes double for you. not only are you coming back to the workplace fairly late, but you have some very prominent baggage. but, hey, if she can do it, so can you.
8:39 am
my judgment, my private dealings with these women... sorry. josh charles: she then has to sort of find herself and juggle being a parent, working stuff out with her man, and also, being the breadwinner. she went to law school; she graduated top of her class at georgetown; she's a smart woman who gave up a lot to enjoy having a family. last time i was in court was 13 years ago. wow. i was 12. thanks. she's got to, you know, bump up against a lot of 20-somethings who are attractive and cutthroat. she's a new associate, and i'm a new associate. looks like we share an assistant, so tell me when i'm hogging her, okay? and let the best man win. excuse me? nothing. it's nothing. i... it's nothing. baranski: there's a lot of drama in the office and in the trial room. detective briggs, what is the pit? excuse me? when an officer's referring to dropping something in the pit, or pitting it, he refers to what?

excluding it from the crime scene narrative. we wouldn't exclude pertinent evidence. was anything pitted from the lewis crime scene? your honor, objection! what's cool about this show is that there is more than meets the eye. there'll be a lot of drama; there'll be a lot of comedy. i could see everybody loving this show. margulies: there'll be some procedural stuff, because that is the backbone, but the meat of the story is about these personal lives and how she affects them and how they affect her. you have to believe me. i'm innocent. of the abuse of office charges. you think i give a damn about that, peter? he needs you to forgive him, alicia. he took everything i thought we had, and he just put it out there. he didn't want that. the press was... oh, jackie, stop it! peter wasn't thinking of us. julianna margulies is the good wife. she's just stunning in this role. girl: hey, mom. some girl said dad slept with a hooker my age, and i just... what?! ma'am, you have to turn that off. her dad's a cop, and he... okay, first of all, they were all over 20,
