traffic stop erupts in gunfire. and, reverse the curse. the chicago cubs making their first trip to the world series since 1945. now, hoping to finally shake the curse of the goat. good evening. thanks for joining us on this sunday. i'm tom llamas. we begin with the highway horror, the southern california. a tour bus crashing into a big rig. at least 13 killed, dozens hurt. the bus crashing on interstate 10. tonight, we're learning more about the tour company and that driver. here's adrienne bankert. >> reporter: tonight, investigators scrambling to determine the cause of this

california highway. >> i've never been to a crash with 13 confirmed fatal accidents. it's tough for all of us. >> reporter: just before dawn, a bus slamming into the rear of a semi truck. survivors telling police they believe all the passengers were asleep at the moment of impact. officials saying most of the 13 bus. the force of the collision so severe, the bus careened 15 feet into the bed of the truck. this is all that's left of the semi behind us. it appears the big rig swallowed the bus. officials saying there were no signs the driver hit the brakes. the highway shut down forhours.

tom, the scene is still so chaotic here. i spoke with a couple of families who say they're waiting to find out if their mother and grandmother survived. tom? >> thank you. and now, to a fight to the finish between donald trump and hillary clinton. trump's team acknowledging he's behind in the polls. clinton, 50%, trump, 38%. a wider polls, but most showing clinton establishing a solid lead. here's david wright. >> reporter: as he starts a swing through the must-win state of florida, donald trump is trying to look forward. but his campaign manager acknowledged it won't be easy t close the gap.

saying he'll accept a clinton victory at legitimate. and trump outlined his vision for the first 100 days of trump america. >> it's a contract between donald j. trump and the american voter. >> all of these liars will be sued after the election is over. >> letting up. >> we can go to gettysburg and sue women who made accusations against him. i'm going to keep talking about what we want to do. >> reporter: new women coming forward, one claiming trump kissed him a decade ago. abc news unable to confirm his story. >> it's become very clear that

instead, she's focused on the battle for congress, lending her support to democratic candidates. today, weighing in on the north carolina senate race. >> unlike her important, debra has never been afraid to stand up to donald trump. >> reporter: clinton using candidates' ties to trump in the downballot races. some thinking trump's controversies could help democrats take back the house. now let's get right to jonathan karl. the headline of the poll, showing a bigger clinton lead. but there are other troubling numbers for trump. >> reporter: more than anything, what is driving that is women voters. hillary with a 20-point lead among women.

as he tried to pull over a car, the shootout starting. ron claiborne with the video. >> reporter: 4:30 a.m., the police officer with a civilian guest in his police car tries to pull over this silver mazda. but then it takes off. >> going to be in a pursuit. failure to yield. >> reporter: the officer turns on his siren in pull pursuit. then a volley of shots from the passenger side. more shots fired, disabling the police car. it rolls to a stop. these photos taken later show the car's shattered window.

hitting the officer and the civilian. neither were seriously hurt, but the suspects got away. and tonight, they're still on the run. >> ron, thank you. overseas tonight, and the battle for mosul. intense fighting under way. fig martha raddatz in the region tonight. >> reporter: the resistance has a suspected isis suicide vehicle advancing, and forces opening fire. after one narrow miss, then another, finally, the car is struck. catching fire. the gunfire also intense

kirkuk. there are about 5,000 americans on the ground in iraq, like the soldiers behind me. most are staying inside the wire, on bases. but there are about 500 out in the thick of it. defense secretary ash carter telling us in northern iraq, it's a dangerous but vital mission. >> whether they're flying on the ground, they're at risk. it's also important that everybody understands we must do this. we have to protect ourselves. >> reporter: tonight, more than 1 million civilians remain under isis control in mosul. that's why the next phase of this operation is so difficdifficult.

>> now, on wisn 12 news. adrienne: a hit and run driver hit three women in an uber rental in downtown milwaukee. now police are searching for the people responsible. police say the women wbe they were hit by another vehicle. sheldon: police responded to the scene near 2nd and clybourn early this morning. that's where wisn 12 news' terry sater joins us live tonight. terry? terry: there are a lot of unanswered questions tonight. the hit and run crash happened shortly before 3:00 this morning right here at 2nd and west clybourn in downtown milwaukee. police say the three women who died were riding in an uber car a ford fusion heading westbound when the driver of a lexus crossover ran a red light. he slammed into the uber car. two female passengers from illinois in their 30's died here
