recount in that state saying green party candidate jill stein had no legal standing to request one. a violent night in milwaukee. police investigating three murders in one case officers found a man and woman shot to death in a home and two children hiding in a closet >> nick is there on the scene. >> neighbors reported hearing gunfire and screaming from in duplex about 1:30 this morning. police forced their way in and found the bodies of a man and woman and two children who were hiding. police officers spent hours on the scene on appleton at florist where inside this duplex they found the bodies of a 36-year-old man and 38-year-old woman, both shot to death. >> father, a family man. nick: the man's cousin told our

was the male victim's significant other. >> he comes from a huge family that's full of love and support. so at this time i don't have a clue on what could possibly have happened. i just lost a family member. nick: police found an elementary school age child, another about 16 inside the home. police say they found the kids hiding. they had no injuries. milwaukee police are still searching for a motive. markers can be seen on the knob on the main window and on the door. doors and windows have been dusted for fingerprints. so far no possible theories have been released by police. police haven't said how the two children are related to the man and woman inside. the man's family were all gathering this afternoon at his mother's house.

at this point they had nothing else they could add. reporting live on the northwest side, appleton and florist, nick bohr. >> also last night a man was found shot to death in his car. officers were called to 36th and thurston. when they arrived they noticed the driver had been not -- shot in the back. he died at the scene. investigators are working to find out what happened. also, a double shooting near 52nd and green tree. officers this morning found a 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman both who had been shot. the woman was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. the man died at the scene. the three murders in milwaukee brought the total number of homicide this year to 130,10 fewer than this time last year. >> it's looking and feeling like december in milwaukee.

karyn: as a statesman, fighter pilot, and astronaut, john glenn had a knack for being at the right place at the right time, with the right stuff. >>i guess i've looked at my whole life as being of service to my country. karen: the son of a plumber and schoolteacher, glenn was born and raised in ohio where he met and married his childhood sweetheart, annie. in 1942, he quit college for the military, and as a highlydecorated marine pilot, flew dozens of missions in the pacific during world war ii. in the korean war, his co-pilot was baseball legend ted williams. >> as the astronaut prepares for karen: after years as a test pilot, glenn was selected in 1959 to be one of nasa's original seven mercury astronauts. he became the first american to orbit the earth. >> oh, that view is tremendous. karen: despite technical problems aboard friendship 7, glenn made three orbits and landed safely. an appearance before congress and a ticker-tape parade followed. he became, quite simply, an american hero. >> and i'm certainly glad to see that pride in our country and accomplishments are not a thing

grandfather's death. today a milwaukee county judge sentenced arlis to 13 years behind bars. police say he and another man shot at a house, hitting laylah with a stray bullet. >> i'd like to give me condolences to the family and friend is of laylah peterson. >> prosecutors say two other men were also involved in death. the other shooter, karl barrett was sentenced to 65 years in prison last week. the getaway driver received five years' probation. a school secretary accused of stealing money. investigators they kimberly depositted the checks following the book fair last december but only a fraction of the cash.

second police officer has died following a shooting. >> a man who killed both officers died during a manhunt. police say 32-year-old minquell lembrick shot the two police officers yesterday while they were responding to a domestic call. >> they're both heroes in my opinion. they were there together. they were there together through and it even after the shooting the whole ordeal. so my heart goes out to their families. >> police salem brick was wanted on kidnapping charges before the incident. >> in south carolina an escaped inmate who triggered a massive manhunt overnight has been captured. michael williamson is accused of stabbing an officer at a nearby walmart. authorities say he escaped the

the officer who was attacked is expected to recover. a 14-year-old boy in reno, nevada, is in critical condition after being shot by a police officer. two students were fighting. one was being threatened with a knife. the officer commanded to the student to drop the knife. he fired a single shot. the officer is now on paid leave. >> calling thela e-cigarettes. they're now the most commonly used tobacco products for those under the age of 128. three million middle and high school students. they also contain nicotine, which can harm the developing brain of adolescents. the attorney general has called for immediate action on cigarette products.

20's. again, it's cold but it's drive. wind chills will be in the teens. now, we have a very active weather forecast over the next five days. you saw out west where the snow is. that's what's going to be moving in. we have flurries here and there. snowing like crazy along the -like lake interior snow belt. some places with a foot already. round one of the snow is saturday night. round two is saturday night into monday, if round two happens and i'll explain. the first punch comes in on saturday night. this low pressure center moves by, bringing with it snow to everybody and very high confidence we'll see snow saturday night. this one is a question mark. sunday night into monday. the track on this is still uncertain. if it stays far enough to the south, the snow will stay south. th sunday and monday. if it stays far enough to the north, we could be dealing with a fair amount of snow. we may have a decent amount of snow on the ground by monday morning. tuesday, punch number three and this one is probably going to hurt more than the others because this one is the argument i said air. round one begins saturday evening, most likely after 8:00. if you have plans saturday night, be ready.

on sunday, i think you'll be ok. round two will begin sunday evening and continues into monday morning. the snow forecast, just for round one, saturday night. two to four inches. clearly it's going to get clip -- slippery. i have high confidence in round one of a moderate snow event that moves in. be ready for that. round two, still a lot of questions about that. 25, no 25 on saturday. most of saturday is dry during the day. saturday night, dealing with snow. again on sunday night and continuing into monday morning. temperatures still at 32 but then here comes the cold. tuesday as the cold front comes in, could be passing snow showers. high of 12 on wednesday, nine on thursday. that's what i call stupid cold. when you get heist into double
