from the u.s. intelligence official saying, it is concerning that intelligence on russian actions related to the u.s. election is being dismissed out of hand as false or politically partisan. the inclination to ignore such intelligence and impugn the integrity of u.s. intelligence officials is contrary to all the intelligence officials who workday and night to protect the country. pretty stunning rebuttal. >> it is, but if you look at the "newsweek" article posted you see another cia article counterterrorism expert on the repo w instance saying, listen, we can't rush to judgment that after that closed door house intelligence committee briefing last week somebody came out and said -- somebody from the fbi said they disagree, that it's, quote, fuzzy and ambiguous at best and they disagree. there is a direct nexus by any effort from the kremlin to hack into this and the election result. and let's be fair. that's what it is. first it was jim comey's fault and let's have a recall. then it's russian interference then a bunch of people in a vement that we have disavowed many times.

new questions are raised about a key video at the center of this case and abc's linsey davis is here with all of the details. good morning. >> good morning. many may remember her as the woman who said she was 5,000% sure she wanted a hit man to kill her husband but dalia dippolito has said along she is innocent. that she was simply acting for a reality tv show hoax planned by her husband, something she may explain today if she ends up taking the witness stand. this morning, dalia dippolito will be back i courtroom preparing to possibly take the stand in her defense in her murder for hire retrial. >> i'm positive like 5,000% sure. >> reporter: accused of paying an undercover officer as a hit man could hill her husband of six month, michael. >> i'm sorry to tell you, ma'am, it's been killed. >> reporter: in court dippolito's lawyers turned the spotlight on the police department behind the videos arguing that the boynton beach police department staged this

>> she was convicted in the first trial and didn't testify. so that in and of itself is a reason to say maybe she needs to do something different. the problem is this time the theory of the defense has primarily been blame the cops. the cops were trying to impress the show "cops." they were engaged in all sorts of horrible activity and actions, et cetera. if she takes the stand, the focus then returns to i thought i was was faking it all and i was acting. and it's hard to have both defenses at the same time. so i think that's an argument to suggest she won't take the stand and, look, in a case like this the defense is always going to say we're deciding till the last minute if they knew from the beginning she wouldn't testify. >> now, this tape of her reaction when police tell her her husband is dead, so far has been inadmissible. could that change given the strategy of the defense?

admit it into evidence. the judge said, o. we'll leave that out of evidence but now the prosecution is saying the defense has raised it as an issue meaning on cross-examination of the witness you saw there they essentially brought it up and they brought up the way the police handled this throughout this case. prosecutors saying we have to be able to rebut that and respond. and so that tape is necessary prosecutors say to allow us to respond to the allegations they've made, the judge saying i'll wait till the end to that decision, i think part of the decision is going to be connected to does dalia dippolito testify. >> we will find out later today. >> yes. >> everyone waiting to see, yes. >> dan, thank you. moving on to that scary moment for a family traveling in bad weather relying on their gps and ended up stranded on a snowy mountain for hours without cell phone service and gio benitez has their story. >> reporter: good morning. listen, this can happen at any moment driving through an unfamiliar area relying on gps

suddenly you're lost or even worse stranded in the snow. that happened to an oregon family and this morning they are definitely lucky to be alive. the sanquist family traveling from oregon to california relied on their gps to give them the quickest route. >> we know we started sliding and got stuck. >> reporter: but that shortest route took the family, mom, dad, their 9-year-old daughter and the family dog straight through the page mountain snow park wherny plowed this time of year. their car wouldn't move. the family didn't have a shovel or a cell phone service. the sanquists were stuck there with no help in sight. >> i'm not sure if i had a shovel i could have dug out. >> reporter: they hunkered down till morning when ron hiked two miles till help and the family finally reaching 911. >> it was scary because to the left was a downgrade, quite a steep one.

time and death. and he gets so angry at love, time and death and writes these letters and he goes and mails them and then love, time and death respond, right? he's like, whoa, whoa. so, you know, it has a little bit of that "it's a wonderful life" beautiful christmas vibe and set in new york and it's one of those s where it could only really happen in new york because of the magical element of it. >> you ride your bike all throughout this you? ? that was fantastic. i got essentially for the scenes a police escort all the time riding my bike through the streets of new york and got to ride down the middle of fifth avenue full speed. >> people do that all the time. >> mine was safe and had stunt drivers around me but it was so beautiful like that free to be able to ride through new york in that way and it was, you know,

?. we had to make snow. you would see people come around the corner like what the hell. so, yeah, you know, big piles of snow. >> so many -- almost the whole cast, i had the great pleasure of sitting down with dame judi dench. >> and helen m?irror. >> that other beautiful -- >> yeah. >> described a really wonderful camaraderie and sai maybe it was will smith. maybe it was the fact there was a beautiful trio of british actresses. did you feel that way? >> there's that group. there's our cast. yeah. yeah, no, it was -- why does the person taking the picture always have the dumb -- >> i actually get to -- >> i know. >> like your face is never really right for the picture.

>> yeah, i look the dumbest. no, but it was like just a beautiful group of people coming together around this idea. i think that morning anything, that's what it was. it was like such powerful helpful ideas around love and time and death, you know, the things that is so universally relatable and i think everybody bonded around the ideas and some of the conversations that we would have and i mean hurt that everybody in the cast is like the best in the world. >> yeah. >> and we were told a little secret when the cameras stopped rolling you went into "hamilton" immediate. >> yeah. >> do you have a favorite song. ? up and son ? ? and the scotsman drop and -- i love that. i love. i didn't know if i could say those two words.

morning television. yeah, but, yeah, no, it was during that time. it was so -- such a beautiful energy on set. this is one of the most fun, the most emotional connection i've ever had working with a group of people on set. >> naomie harris told me you were a big practical jokester messing with her a little bit -- when people are british, american jokes aren't funny, so it's really -- like that made it extra funny to me, you know. >> like i don't get it. >> oh, okay. so then i'm going to say it again. just louder. oh, man. >> a question for you. your two kids so stunning. very fashion forward. where do they get it? >> i have no idea. it's like -- it just poor parenting.

>> let me tell you, they are, yeah, i think if there's one gift that jada and i were able to give them is the freedom to be who they are unapologetically. >> big gift. >> you know, as parents, a lot, jada and i struggled with them wanting to be whether we want them to be versus the fight that we had with ourselves as you know what, they were created as a thing and we're going to get behind wha demand that they be what we want them to be. [ applause ] >> that's a big breakthrough. >> yeah, yeah. >> tell you what as the parent -- i have almost a 15-year-old and listen -- gosh, i got to do that. >> but, no, it's terrifying. no, that's dumb. don't do that. >> they got to be allowed to make mistakes. >> the ability to make mistakes

suffering that you gain around your own choices are -- >> comes right back. >> that's how you glow and on top of it, you know, jada and i had to be really honest with ourselves. we don't know how much as we think we do. it's like they know better about themselves than we do sometimes, you know, that's just real. you can know for yourself. but you can't know for somebody else. >> so hard to do as a parent. >> i know, right. >> this whole acting thing doesn't work out, career in theefr pi. >> right. oh, yeah, i've already had a career in therapy on the other side. >> very helpful, though. >> nice to see you again. musical side but "la la land" has done very well. getting a nomination. for best musical comedy one for emma and ryan up against another ryan, ryan renn knolls for "deadpool" in that. >> ryan renn knolls. >> the track is pretty clear for "la la land." as for best drama, you know that's a really impressive group. "hacksaw ridge," that's the mel gibson movie that stars andrew garfield and also got a nomination this time f lives instead of slinging webs. "manchester by the sea," "moonlight" and "lion." >> casey affleck got a nomination and he's one of the favorites in that category. denzel washington up there also, i think the category that's loaded is actress drama. amy adams, isabella and natalie portman as jackie alongside jessica chastain again so a lot of movies in great shape and

contenders continue to be the top. "la la land," you've got "moonlight" and you've got "manchester by the sea." these are deep, you know, powerful movie, not major wild -- >> "la la land" is -- i was going to say it's got a beautiful message but really is also very magical and takes you along the way. >> sweeps you away and love love when you watch it. >> i love the movie. >> ryan gosling not too shabby. in tv any surprises. >> well, always seems lik there's something, you know, unusual being -- we have great performance for "black-ish" this morning. >> all right. >> it's always exciting and "nocturnal animals" did really well, as well. >> tom ford. >> the tom ford thing. the golden globes asked the hollywood foreign press to return one of the two bottles of tom ford perfume that were sent to them as a gift so that it didn't influence their vote so i just want to say i would wear a cologne name scorsese any day. so -- >> what do the globes tell you about the oscars? >> usually are the first -- they're the begin of the end, the last time they get to weigh in. next time we'll see the guild, the people that make the movies so i think of hads is at first cut. you know, this is like the people who are likely to be around for the oscar nominations. again these seem to be the lead. >> no big surprises. >> not anything huge. "moonlight," "manchester by the sea," "la la land" are in this to win it all the way.

just won at the critics choice awards last night as well so have you been celebrating? tell us what the last few hours have been like for you? >> i just have been really excited and so proud. it's such a good show and i couldn't be happier. >> you have used this moment in the public spotlight evan rachel wood to talk about painful incidents from your past. how do you hope sharing some of those stories will help the people who love and watch you on "westworld"? >> i the same strength from dolores that i did and i hope it removes some of the shame and fear and hurt to know that they aren't alone. >> it's such an incredible series to watch. tell us what it's like to work with greats like anthony hopkins. >> it's a dream. it is.
