portions of the riverwalk park & amphitheater in west columbia is reopen today after it had to close again last week because all the rain we saw. since the flood back in october -- the riverwalk park has been on a sort of roller coaster. after the initial flood they were able to reopen the amphitheater of the riverwalk -- but it has been closed several times because it keeps experiencing flooding problems from the continuous rain. since october -- crews have cleaned up everything from mud, debris, and trees... and they also found a lot of erosion problems and the river level is not helping. "we are getting additional erosion from that. and mainly we've got a lot of tree balls that were exposed down by the river because of the erosion. so now with these rains and all now, we're getting additional trees that are falling and things like that -- more frequently than in typical times. other than than, it's just the typical mud that's washed up and cleanup and things like that. but that's been the biggest issue." the city's core engineers and fema have been working diligently to try and figure out

all of the problems and what has to be fixed at the riverwalk park. we are now getting our first look at the man charged with murder after a deadly shooting in eastover on sunday afternoon. investigators say 49-year old mark volstromer shot and killed the unidentified victim after an ongoing dispute. this happened on antioch amez church road near megan court. we're waiting to learn the timeline for when he'll be in court. a man on a riding lawnmower has died after a crash with a pickup truck in orangeburg county over the weekend. the highway patrol says it happened just after 11 on saturday night. authorities say the lawnmower driver and the ford pickup were both traveling west on winter creek road when the truck hit the mower in the back. troopers say the man driving the mower was killed. his name has not been released. the truck driver wasn't hurt. family, friends and loved ones gathered this weekend to remember an outgoing

high school student who was killed last week in a car crash. 17-year old glenn rabon, junior, also known as "tripp" was a baseball and football player at summerville high school. students gathered at summerville high school for a vigil on saturday. the stands soon became empty as everyone shifted to surround his family in prayer. "everybody knew him. he smiled all the time" "always had a smile on his face" "literally could put a smile on anyone's face" "he was always smiling always happy" the rabon family has set-up a memorial scholarship in "tripp's" honor. richland county deputies are piecing together details of an armed robbery that happened sunday evening. deputies say a man robbed a korean restaurant on decker boulevard in columbia then took off. no one was hurt. if you have information that can help investigators call crimestoppers at 1-888-crime-sc. highway patrol troopers are looking to track down a driver who fled from an accident over the weekend.

it happened near the percival road exit on i-77 north -- just after 8-30 saturday night. troopers say a pickup truck made an improper lane change and hit a car... sending the car off the road and into some trees. we do not know the condition of the driver. the pickup truck took off. if you have any information about this hit and run, call crimestoppers at 1- 888-crimes-sc. sad news to report -- the wife of south carolina senator john matthews has died. mrs. geraldine hillard- matthews passed away on christmas day. she was 75. she is described by some as a great democrat, community leader, and good friend. services will be held later this week. south carolina chief justice jean toal is getting ready to retire after 27 years on the state supreme court. toal's last day is december 31. she has to leave because state law requires justices to retire the year they turn 72 years old. toal turned 72 this summer. she has been a trailblazer for women.

vicki gardner was being interviewed live on w-d- b-j in august when a disgruntled former employee of the station fired his gun at allison parker, adam ward and gardner. parker and ward were killed. gardner was in the hospital for two weeks and has now finished several surgeries to repair internal injuries. she told c-n-n she's ready to go back to work, even though it's just steps away from where she was shot. "it is such a joyous place, and again something horrible happened but it does not define where i work. and it was right outside my window where this tragedy happened." gardner plans to be back at work at the end of january. the iraqi city of ramadi has been liberated from isis' grasp even as the militant group's leader released a new message. nbc's keir simmons reports. :02 1:27-1:46 it is a blow to isis... it's fighters defeated in
