i'm allie spilflooding -- we'll get to meteorologist von gaskin for the latest in just a few minutes... breaking news just into the newsroom... medal of honor kyle carpenter receipient has been charged with hit and run for a crash that happened december 8th at the intersection of assembly and blossom streets. carpenter appeared in court this morning. he is accused of hitting a pedestrian and failing to exit his vehicle or give help. the pedestrian was treated for injuries to his leg. he is expected to be okay. we'll go to rick henry is live in florida today... where the clemson tigers will take on oklahoma in the orange bowl... set to kick off in just a few hours. we're a little under four hours away from the kickoff of the college playoff game between top ranked clemson and the oklahoma

resources confirms a drowning has happened at lake wateree. right now we know the drowning was non-boating related and happened near blackgum lane in kershaw county. dnr has a dive team working the scene, and we have a crew headed there now. we'll keep yoyoupdated as we learn more. the orangeburg county sheriff's departmemt is investigating why one of its deputies shot a dog. deputies were responding to a shots fired call in the 700 block stilton road around 1:30 this morning when they say a pit bull dog charged at the responding officer in a quote "extremely aggressive manner." the officer fired twice -- striking the dog once in the front leg. deputies then realized the dog was on a chain. animal control took the dog to a local veterinarian to be treated, and it's expected to make a full recovery. we're expecting an update from sce&g soon

water level at lake murray. the spill gate from the lake murray dam was open around 4 this morning because lake murray can't exceed it's licensed operating level of 360 feet -- which it was about two feet shy of before the spill gate was opened. we're told the gate will be releasing up to 18- thousand cubic feet per second into the lower saluda river. officials say there is no need to panic as they are simply releasing water to make way for expected rain and inflow over the next few days. sumter police are looking for leads in a deadly shooting that happened at poplar square apartments on miller road. investigators responded to the apartment complex at 6:45 last night after receiving a shots fired call. they say a 23-year-old man was found unresponsive in an area outside one of the buildings. he was later pronounced dead at the scene. police are not releasing the man's name until they

police in belgium have arrested a tenth person in connection to last month's attacks in paris. a belgian national born in 1993, identified only as ayoub b., has been charged with terrorist murder and participation in the activities of a terrorist group. he was taken into custody during a search in brussels molenbeek neigbhorood where some of the paris attackers lived -- including the suspected ringleader. six others have been detained for questioning over a suspected plot to stage during the holidays. connection between the two -- they've highlighted belgium's role as a hotbed of islamic radicalism. nine people have already been arrested in belgium in connection with the attacks in paris that killed 130 and injured hundreds. the u-s resumed airstrikes against isis targets this week -- after a nearly 3 month lull. tuesday the military led attacks
