a boil water advisory has been lifted for people in one area of lexington county. anyone living in the 400, 500 and d 0 blocks of old barnwell road, lynn drive, bel-air drive and in the savannah woods subdivision no longer need to boil their water this morning. people living in and around the leaphart road area in west columbia are still being asked to boil their water this morning. the water was shut off saturday morning to relocate several water lines due to an sc-dot road project. once completed, the water line sprang a leak and crews had to fix it before the water was turned back on. people in the area will need to boil water for at least one full minute before using it. if you still need federal assistance after october's flooding and you have yet to apply -- today is your last day! you have until midnight tonight to finish the application process. you can also call fema's hotline at 1-800-621-femama -- that number will be available until 10pm tonight.

year -- will cost his farm hundreds of thousands of dollars. he says he and his fellow farmers have been looking into ways to get some disaster aid from the federal government. new this morning... the highway patrol continues to investigate an accident that killed a teen in aiken county last night. investigators say 15-year old david crutchfield was pronounced dead on north street in the town of new ellenton. investigators say 20-year old raymond burns was driving the vehicle that hit crutchfield. the coroner says burns initially left the scene of the crash, but later turn himself into authorities. the accident remains under investigation. in this morning's crime alert... a man is recovering in the hospital after he was stabbed several times over the weekend. now, 3 men are behind bars for attempted murder. richland county deputies say just before 5:30 saturday night -- andrew and marlon gathers and jarivs hurst - who is not pictured - attacked and stabbed a man multiple times at the title max on broad river road. deputies say andrew gathers sliced off one of his fingers in the attack.

deputies tracked down the suspects in the 2000 block of ramsgate drive. they were transported to alvin s. enn detention center while they await a bond hearing. richland county deputies are also investigating a weekend crash scene as a murder. deputies say someone called in a motorcycle crash at long green parkway and churchland drive in columbia just before 3am on sunday. when deputies arrived, they discovered the driver- who was dead- had a bullet wound to his upper body. if you have any information that can help investigators call crimestoppers at 1- 888-crime-sc. a group of protesters and reported militiamen who have taken over a federal building in oregon have vowed to stay there indefinitely. they're accusing officials of punishing ranchers who did not want to sell their land. the protesters say.. if police come with force, they are ready to respond with force. chris liedle reports. malhuer national wildlife refuge... 30 or so miles south of burns, oregon is better known for bird watching and site seeing.

after gunfire erupted early this morning directed towards security forces. this all comes hours after saudi arabia cut diplomatic ties with iran after an attack on the saudi embassy in tehran. authorities are not offering details on suspects in the shooting. it happened where the family of a shiite cleric, who was killed over the weekend, is holding three days of mourning at a local mosque. his execution on saturday has sparked outrage among shiites across the region. protesters stormed and set fire to the saudi embassy in tehran. iran's deputy foreign minister says saudi arabia's decision to severe diplomatic relations cannot cover up a "strategic mistake" in killing a prominent shiite cleric. the clock is ticking for victims of october's historic flood to register for federal assistance. the deadline to apply for fema aid is tonight at 11:59pm.

newsroom with more on the help that's available if you still need to apply. the big message fema officials are sending this morning -- if you experienced any damage during october's flood, and you still haven't applied -- you should go ahead and register before tonight's deadline. a fema representative tells me nearly 100- thousand people have registered for fema assistance. so far, about 30 percent have been eligible to receive it. but if you were denini assistance -- fema says to go ahead and reapply just in case. representatives say once you apply, you'll be asked to provide certain documentation, like id and proof that you own the home that was damaged. going into the next several weeks -- fema says they will continue doing damage assessments for last- minute applicicts. once you apply -- you can expect to be contacted shortly after an inspection about what type of assistance is available. "we have found being here in south carolina that this is a resilient group of folks.

recently is the latest chapter in a rocky year for area farmers. farm owner john long says the wet weather caused him to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in crop yields. "there's been no place for the water to go...the ground is saturated." "nothings been as bad as this year." long says he and other farmers in newberry county are looking for any help the government can provide. they say they're hoping the colder weather will continue. seven previously closed roads have now been opened by the south carolina department of transportation. at last check over the weekend, there are 39 roads that remain closed in 19 counties because of october's flooding. this includes only one primary route closure - which is south carolina highway 193 in saluda county. crews will continue to make repairs to damaged roads as weather conditions allow. in addition, scdot is monitoring water levels and bridge conditions from the recent water release at the lake murray dam. troopers are still investigating a weekend crash that killed one person in kershaw county. it happened saturday night.

of a chevrolet was killed when their vehicle crossed the center line on smyrna road....crashing into a pickup. two people in that vehicle were also injured...but are expected to be okay. authorities say a summerville man wanted in a homicide case..was shot and killed by a u.s. marshal in south dakota. 37-year-old lonnie powers, junior reportedly pulled out a gun when confronted by law enforcement in a sioux falls parking lot saturday. a deputy marshal then opened fire. berkeley county deputies say powers was suspected of killing 55-year-old james hill. he was found shot to death in his ridgeville home back in december. an investigation is underway this morning in charlotte after a charlotte-mecklenburg police officer was injured in a shooting that left one man dead. police say they were trying to serve a warrant in shooting that happened last week in north charlotte. police arrived at the apartment complex at around 9 p-m last night. when officers arrived, they say the suspect fired shots at the officers, hitting one in the ankle. officers then fired back, killing the person who they were trying to serve a warrant on. the injured officer was taken to

richland county deputies are investigating a weekend crash scene as a murder. deputies say someone called in a motorcycle crash at long green parkway and churchland drive in columbia just before 3am on sunday. when deputies arrived, they discovered the driver- who was dead- had a bullet wound to his upper body. if you have any information that can help investigators call crimestoppers at 1- 888-crime-sc. a man is recovering in the hospital after he was stabbed several times over the weekend. now, 3 men are behind bars for attempted murder. richland county deputies say just before 5:30 saturday night -- andrew and marlon gathers and jarivs hurst - who is not pictured - attacked and stabbed a man multiple times at the title max on broad r rer road. deputies say andrew gathers sliced off one of his fingers in the attack. doctors were able to reattach the finger. deputies tracked down the suspects in the 2000 block of ramsgate drive. they were transported to alvin s. glenn detention center while they await a bond hearing. the development of a sickle cell center in

pioneer died over the weekend. dennis littles passed away saturday evening due to a long battle with sickle cell. dennis was featured on awareness in august to promote a fundraiser to help get the center off the ground. before his death dennis had to drive 2 hrs to charleston for his doctor and about an hour to columbia for his nurse. he felt he was called to help many like him in sumter still in need of a center. he was able to start-up "bread of life community outreach sickle cell center" -- still in it's beginning stages. he was 32. members of a north carolina churchchre giving extra thanks after a potential tragedy turned into a moment of celebration. during a new year's eve service in fayetteville, an armed man walked in. the pastor, who is also a city councilman and a retired soldier, says he asked the man to hand over his rifle as he began to pray and asked the rest of the congregation to pray. "when i told the congregation, 'it's ok, he wants prayer,' and i began to pray for him, and the power of god hit, and he fell to his knees and began to cry, weep, and he had his face on the ground.

the deadline to register is tonight at 11:59. however, for those not eligible for the federal aid -- there are some alternatives. our michal higdon is live in the newsroom with the details. according to fema representatives almost 100-thousand people have applied for assistance since october's flood. but, they say only about 30 percent of applicants were approved. officials with the south carolina emergency management division say if you are declined fema assistance -- you are then deferred to the small business administration for their low-interest loan program. if you're declined that program -- you are referred back to fema for what's called an other needs assessment which goes through other programs available to you. all of the volunteer agencies that were available through the flood -- are still available and very active in helping people repair their damaged homes. and emergency officials say they in the winter season. "right now we are still heavily involved in the recovery effort from the october flood. it's still very early on in the recovery.

at least six people are dead and 50 more are injured after a 6 point 7 magnitude earthquake hit india's remote northeastern region. some buildings collapsed in the area of about 270- thousand people on sunday. the powerful six-point- eight magnitude quake struck while many residents were asleep. the number of people dead is still expected to rise. rescue efforts were reportedly hampered by power outages. 17 guantanamo bay prison detainees are cleared for release and are expected to be transferred this week. last month, defense secretary ash carter told members of congress that the 17 detainees would be sent to other countries. once the prisoners are moved, there will be 90 detainees left. 59 of them are not eligible to

"there's been no place for the water to go...the ground is saturatat." "nothings been as bad as this year." long says he and other farmers in newberry county are looking for any help the government can provide. they say they're hoping the colder weather will continue. seven previously closed roads have now been opened by the south carolina department of transportation. at last check over the weekend, there are 39 roads that remain closed in 19 counties because of october's flooding. this includes only one primary route closure - which is south carolina highway 193 in saluda county. crews will continue to make repairs to damaged roads as weather conditions allow. in addition, scdot is monitoring water levels and bridge conditions from the recent water release at the lake murray dam. in the wis alert center this morning. water levels of the mississippi river in missouri and illinois are beginning to recede in most places, but continue to rise in others. people living along the flood-ravaged areas say the "nightmare" is just

during a new year's eve service in fayetteville, an armed man walked in. the pastor, who is also a city councilman and a retired soldier, says he asked the man to hand over his rifle as he began to pray and asked the rest ofofhe congregation to pray. three people including a minor are being held by authorities late sunday in the killing of the newly inaugurated mayor in mexico. 33 year old gisela mota was sworn into office friday as the mayor of temixco. she was shot and killed by several attackers in her home saturday morning. police say two other suspects in her death were killed by police. the mayor had pledged to tackle drug crime that has plagued that area. during a vigil sunday morning,

assistance -- you are then deferred to the small business administration for their low-interest loan program. if you're declined that program -- you are referred back to fema for what's called an other needs assessment which goes through other programs available to you. all of the volunteer agencies that were available through the flood -- are still available and very active in helping people repair their damaged homes. and emergency officials say they are still very involved in the process but are encouraging you to finish repairs now that we're in the winter season. flood. it's still very early on in the recovery. but we want to start to finish that up as quickly as possible because we're very concerned about winter storms -- the potential for ice storms coming up in late january, early february. and heaven forbid we should get any severe weather as we hit prime tornado time
