thanks for a few lottery players are waking up a whole lot richer this morning. the massive one point five billion dollar powerball finally had its winning ticket sold last night. in fact, there were three different winning tickets. the tickets were sold in florida, tennessee, and at this seven eleven in chino hills, california...where excitement is sweeping through the town. you should boil your water for a lifted. more breaking news we've been following overnight... suicide bombers attacked a starbucks cafe in downtown jakarta, indonesia today. jakarta police say six people, including one foreigner, were killed in the attacks, along with four attackers. amateur video shows explosions near a mall and local television reported there were three other explosions elsewhere. we'll have more on this breaking story ahead on sunrise at 5am. republican presidential candidates are gathering in the palmetto state ahead of tonight's debate in north charleston. this is the second debate hosted there by the fox business network. it will be at the north charleston coliseum and performing arts center. similar to previous debates, the 4 undercard candidates will be on stage first at 6pm. the 7 remaining candidates will participate in the prime-time debate at 9. wis will be bringing you live team coverage of the debate from north charleston throughout the day. our charles molineaux and will

north charleston coliseum. republican candidates were criss-crossing the palmetto state yesterday to talk to voters ahead of charleston. more than 500 people connected to the gop committee are also expected to be in the lowcountry. republican presidential candidate marco rubio was in mount pleasant at the water dog grill. mike huckabee stopped by first baptist church of charleston for a a uckabee ddle." and republican john kasich held a meet and greet in charleston yesterday evening. governor nikki haley response to the president's state of the union speech is making waves on the campaign trail. in the response she criticized the presidents track record, but she also called out "angry voices" in her party. on the today show wednesday, she confirmed it was directed, in part, toward donald trump. last night, trump responded. "one of the commentators said to me, gov. haley said i'm an angry person. i said i am. i'm very angry because i hate what's happening to our country." trump was in pensacola , florida at a campaign

and the democratic presidential canandates will be in columbia en masse next week. candidates hillary clinton, bernie sanders and martin o'malley will be in the capital city for the naacp. the developer behind a big proposed project in west columbia is offering more particulars and may be winning some people over. last night, neighbors hosted the developer of the planned "brookland" project ahead of a crucial vote that could decide the project's future. chad mills has more. this meeting was all about answering questions and clearing up bad rumors about a potential mixed-use development in west columbia, just over the gervais street bridge, that would feature homes for sale and for rent, specialty stores, galleries, cafes and eateries, offices, and community spaces. but this meeting, with the

developer, also helped win over some confidence from people like jeanne brutschy. "from what i've seen tonight, i think it's a beautiful plan, so i think they alleviated a lot of concerns by showing that this evening." last week, the project, known as brookland, heard comment-after- comment of criticism at a council meeting, and it was enough criticism to delay a final vote on rezoning this land for the potential development. as a result, this meeting and q-and-a session with the developer, estates & companies. "as we said, we are local. we live here. we want to do the right thing. we want to move over there as well." developer matt mundy addressed the concerns. he told the worried neighbors they won't build skyscrapers, unveiled sleek new renderings, addressed traffic flow, and talked about parking too. "parking is of upmost concern to us as well. if we don't park it right, people won't live there, people won't work there, people won't shop there."

with 125- to-135 reserved for the public. while brutschy still has some concerns, she's feeling more comfortable now. "there's still going to have to be a lot of checks and balances before they can move forward, and i feel better knowing that." that was chad mills reporting. there will be a special- called council meeting tonight as well. the president of the greater cayce west columbia chamber of commerce says the chamber hasn't endorsed the proposed development yet, but it's leaning that way. state leaders are laying out a new spending plan to help south carolina schools. yesterday governor nikki haley and superintendent of education molly spearman spelled out the education plan for 2016. it includes money to give bus drivers raises and make the internet more accessible for kids at school and at home. and it makes struggling rural schools a priority. the governor proposed student debt forgiveness for new teachers who work 8 years in rural district.

improvements to children's education, part of the improvement is where they spend most of their day, and that's in a school, and we want that school to be safe, and we want them to feel good about it, and we want them to feel worthy." haley also proposed a plan to let future governors appoint their education superintendents, instead of the superintendent being elected. if that plan is passed, the first appointment would happen in 2019. south carolina's top prosecutor is hoping for better rules to keep state lawmakers flying straight. the general assembly's second regular session started tuesdayayand attorney general alan wilson says there's still a lot to get done in terms of roads and education. but wilson hopes ethics reform will finally get over the hump at the state house. wilson says he's grateful for what lawmakers accomplished last year -- in the first half of the session. he says a reformed state grand jury process is allowing him to conduct better public corruption

deputies are asking for your help to find two people in a kidnapping and armed robbery in richland county. investigators say the two of them forced a man walking down broad river road into a vehicle at gunpoint. they then drove to tyeu trail and bakersfield road, where they left the victim after they beat him and robbed him. the victim was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injures. anyone with information is asked to call crimestoppers at 1-888- crime-sc. after nearly a month, the town of north now has a new police chief. lin shrier's first day as police chief is next tuesday. he comes from the elloree police department where he was assistant chief for 10 years. the entire police force including former police chief mark fallaw resigned last month after stating several differences with mayor patty carson. no word yet on when or if any new police have been hired. a mother is outraged after she says a student showed her daughter inappropriate material in the classroom. the mother does not want to identify herself for fear of retaliation against her daughter.

district should do more to shield students from inappropriate material online. "pictures of strippers, women twerking and things she called the 'birds and the bees.' this mother says her 9 9 year-old daughter has been traumatized by being forced to look at inappropriate pictures on a classmate's chromebook laptop while at school. "i don't blame the child because the child is a child but i do feel like that content should not be there. it should automatically be a block and nothing should be able the slip through the cracks. part of richland two's appropriate internet use policy lists prohibited material saying quote "although students will be under supervision while on the network, it is not possible to constantly monitor individual students and what they are accessing on the network. some students might encounter information that is not of educational value." the district says there is

mononucleosis is oftentimes called the "kissing disease" because the virus is transmitted through saliva. brenda sonnier, a nurse

says mono can also be spread through coughs, sneezez, or shshring utensils and dishes with an infected person. the symptoms are flu- like in the beginning. "it presents exactly like the most of the time it is diagnosed as the flu first." you might also notice swollen lymph nodes n your neck and armpits. sonnier says mononucleosis usually is not serious, but it can last for weeks - even months. "be aware of it, especially in the winter months it seems to be more prevalent. i see it a lot in my teenagers and young adults." a diagnosis comes through a blood test. treatment is only symptomatic. "there is no treatment. you have to rest, drink plenty of fluids, and just get back to your normal routine. it's a virus, it's going to have to run its course." the infection is only contagious in the early stages. "you're contagious the first two to four weeks, that's when you have to not kiss

happened last friday, killing one columbia man. 23-year-old michael robinson has been charged with murder in the death of rodney francis. officers say robinson fired shots from his suv as francis was leaving club rue 77 on lady ststet. they say the shooting may have stemmed from a fight between two groups of people. robinson is currently at the alvin s. glenn detention center. prime property in columbia could get the final green light today for new development. plans for the old kline iron and steel company property will go before the city design commission today. a greenville developer wants to build about 300 housing units, retail stores, restaurants, and a parking garage in that area. another addition would be a traffic light connecting pedestrians and cars from lady street into the future site. the meeting is at 4pm today. happening tonight here in south carolina, the republican presidential candidates will talk up the issues and gaiaithe support of voters. 10 candidates will participate in the republican primary debate tonight at the north charleston coliseum.

democratic presidential candidate bernie sanders is back in the midlands tonight. sanders will be at the vaughan fine arts center at south carolina state university. he's touring historically black colleges and universities. doors for the event are open at 6:30 and the event starts at 7. our billie jean shaw will be there live and will have more from the event at south carolina state. usc basketball has suffered it's first lost of the season. the men and women were a combined 30- and oh heading into wednesday night -- when the men took their perfect record on the road to play alabama. the gamecocks had a rough night -- falling behind early and trailing by 13 at the the crimson tide kept rolling in alabama wins 73 to 50, dropping the gamecocks to 15-and-1 overall. meanwhile -- the usc women will look to keep their perfect record i itact tonight. they'll also be on the road, playing the kentucky wildcats in lexington. this is a big game in the sec and in the national rankings, with usc ranked number 2 and kentucky ranked number 9.

help the poor are dead after a bus crash in honduras the victims were three columbia university students part of the "global brigades" mission group.. they were killed when their bus swerved of the road, falling about 80 feet and crashing into a gully. all were students -- but one of the women was a student and also a nurse practitioner at columbia university medical center. at least 12 other americans were

a developing story out of north carolina... investigators are trying to figure out how the biological father of a missing girl died. investigators say billie goodman is the biological father of erica parsons. last thursday, police found goodman's body at a house in kannapolis. investigators say goodman had a number of health problems. his daughter -- erica -- vanished several years ago and hasn't been seen. erica's adoptive parents casey and sandy parsons, were convicted of defrauding the government by continuing to accept adoption assistance long after erica disappeared. her biological father was never considered a suspect in her disappearance. the trouble surrounding hoverboards continues. a hoverboard caught fire at a home in florida yesterday, filling the house with smoke. the hoverboard reportedly burst into flames inside the home. firefighters were able to put it out quickly, but there was heavy smoke damage. many universities and airlines have banned hoverboards across the u-s due to the fire hazard posed by the transportation

who doesn't love free food??!! especially when it's free for an entire year! bet that woke you up this morning! columbia's newest chick-fil-a restaurant is gearing up to open it's doors this morning -- offering customers a deal they can't miss. our caroline patrickis joins us live from killian road in northeast richland county, with some very excited folks -- caroline? mary & sam... there are definitely some hungry folks out here who have braved the overnight freezing temperatures to be the first 100 customers through the door of the newest chick-fil-a. it'll be opening for the first time in less than an hour at 6am. the restaurant chain has been offering up the incentive for more than 12 years now at grand openings of their newest locations. if you can imagine, some customers have even been camped out as early as yesterday morning! the first 100 eligible customers in line when the doors open will be given a one year supply of free chick-fil-a meals -- which the chain says is more than $32 thousand in free

the brand new restaurant will bring more than 85 jobs to the northeast richland county area. chick-fil-a is expanding throughout the midlands and the killian road store operator says this newest location will see a lot of business. iranians for intruding in their waters have issued an apology. iran detained, then released the 10 sailors after their boats strayed onto iranian waters. a statement from iran's revolutionary guard says the entry into their waters was not done on purpose. u-s authorities confirmed the 10 sailors were unharmed. the u-s central command says it's investigating the incident. the first lawsuit against malaysia airlines for the disappearance of m-h 370 has been filed in the u-s. the flight from kuala lumpur to beijing, carrying 239 passengers and crew, disappeared two years ago. most of the wreckage, aside from one piece of a wing, has not been found. the lawsuit was filed in federal court in washington by the sons of philip wood, who died in that crash. the attorney representing wood's sons said compensation offered on behalf of the airline was quote e ffensive." chipotle says its confident that its e-coli crisis is coming to an end. the ceo of the company says its executives met with officials from the centers

a portion of interstate 10 west was shut down as crews investigated the crash. deputies need help finding two people in a richland county kidnapping and armed robbery. investigators say the two forced a man walking down broad river road into a vehicle at gunpoint. they then drove to tyeu trail and bakersfield road, where they left the victim after they beat him and robbed him. the victim was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injures. call crimestoppers at 1- 888-crime-sc if you have information. we're following a developing case of apparent embezzlement by a saluda county town clerk sled reports that 63 year old ellen pamela long has been arrested. she used to be the town clerk in the town of ward. she's accused of stealing from the town, and from a community church. she's charged with embezzlement of public funds of more than ten thousand dollars and breach of public trust as well as forgery. all of the charges are felonies. if she's convicted, she could get up to 10 years in prison.

after an arrest by richland county's sheriff himself. quavion bing is charged with burglary and larceny after deputies say he stole electronics from a chartwell road apartment. sheriff leon lott said he saw the suspect running away and started chasing him, apprehending him at hunters ridge apartments. investigators linked bing to another burglary from late last year. the developer behind a big proposed project in west columbia is offering more particulars and may be winning some people over. last night, neighbors hosted the developer of the planned "brookland" project ahead of a crucial vote that could decide the project's future. the meeting was all about answering questions and clearing up bad rumors about the potential mixed-use development, just over the gervais street bridge, that would feature homes for sale and for rent, specialty stores, galleries, cafes and eateries, offices, and community spaces. the developer told the worried neighbors they won't build skyscrapers, unveiled sleek new renderings, addressed traffic flow, and talked about parking too. biological father of a missing girl died. investigators say billie goodman is the biological father of erica parsons. last thursday, police found goodman's body at a house in kannapolis. investigators say goodman had a number of health problems. his daughter -- erica -- vanished several years ago and hasn't been seen. erica's adoptive parents casey and sandy parsons, were convicted of defrauding the government by continuing to accept adoption assistance long after erica disappeared. her biological father was never considered a suspect in her disappearance. american olympic champion skier picabo street has been charged with assault and domestic violence after authorities say she pushed her father down the stairs. police say the incident took place at a utah home in december. according to documents released wednesday, street told police she locked her 76-year-old father in the basement after pushing him and then called authorities. police say street's three children witnessed the event. street's attorney says she denies any wrongdoing in what she considers

reporting an arrest in connection to the death of an american woman there. 35-year-old artist ashley olsen was living in florence when she was found strangled to death in her apartment. police have not named the suspect but say they were able to identify him frfr an image captured on closed-circuit surveillance footage. when olsen was killed is still a mystery. her pet dog was found in the apartment when olsen's body was discovered, saturday. he hadn't been taken for a walk in some time... suggesting olsen had been dead for hours. we'll keep you updated on when ththt suspect is named. a reminder this morning -- neighbors living on glengarry drive in richland county need to boil their water this morning. an advisory was issued last night after a water main break in that area. you should boil your water for a least one minute before drinking it or cooking with it.

that advisory is lifted. deputies need help finding two people in a richland county kidnapping and armed robbery. investigators say the two forced a man walking down broad river road into a vehicle at gunpoint. they then drove to tyeu trail and bakersfield road, whee they left the victim after they beat him and robbed him. the victim was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injures. call crimestoppers at 1- 888-crime-sc if you have information. we're following a developing case of apparent embezzlement by a saluda county town clerk sled reports that 63 year old ellen pamela long has been arrested. she used to be the town clerk in the town of ward. she's accused of stealing from the town, and from a community church. she's charged with embezzlement of public funds of more than ten thousand dollars and breach of public trust as well as forgery. all of the charges are felonies. if she's convicted, she could get up to 10 years in prison. there's a brand new chick-fil-a that's just opened it's doors in
