and the democratic presidential canandates will be in columbia en masse next week. candidates hillary clinton, bernie sanders and martin o'malley will be in the capital city for the naacp. the developer behind a big proposed project in west columbia is offering more particulars and may be winning some people over. last night, neighbors hosted the developer of the planned "brookland" project ahead of a crucial vote that could decide the project's future. chad mills has more. this meeting was all about answering questions and clearing up bad rumors about a potential mixed-use development in west columbia, just over the gervais street bridge, that would feature homes for sale and for rent, specialty stores, galleries, cafes and eateries, offices, and community spaces. but this meeting, with the

developer, also helped win over some confidence from people like jeanne brutschy. "from what i've seen tonight, i think it's a beautiful plan, so i think they alleviated a lot of concerns by showing that this evening." last week, the project, known as brookland, heard comment-after- comment of criticism at a council meeting, and it was enough criticism to delay a final vote on rezoning this land for the potential development. as a result, this meeting and q-and-a session with the developer, estates & companies. deputies are asking for your help to find two people in a kidnapping and armed robbery in richland county. investigators say the two of them forced a man walking down broad river road into a vehicle at gunpoint. they then drove to tyeu trail and bakersfield road, where they left the victim after they beat him and robbed him. the victim was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injures. anyone with information is asked to call crimestoppers at 1-888- crime-sc. after nearly a month, the town of north now has a new police chief. lin shrier's first day as police chief is next tuesday. he comes from the elloree police department where he was assistant chief for 10 years. the entire police force including former police chief mark fallaw resigned last month after stating several differences with mayor patty carson. no word yet on when or if any new police have been hired. a mother is outraged after she says a student showed her daughter inappropriate material in the classroom. the mother does not want to identify herself for fear of retaliation against her daughter.

a developing story out of north carolina... investigators are trying to figure out how the biological father of a missing girl died. investigators say billie goodman is the biological father of erica parsons. last thursday, police found goodman's body at a house in kannapolis. investigators say goodman had a number of health problems. his daughter -- erica -- vanished several years ago and hasn't been seen. erica's adoptive parents casey and sandy parsons, were convicted of defrauding the government by continuing to accept adoption assistance long after erica disappeared. her biological father was never considered a suspect in her disappearance. the trouble surrounding hoverboards continues. a hoverboard caught fire at a home in florida yesterday, filling the house with smoke. the hoverboard reportedly burst into flames inside the home. firefighters were able to put it out quickly, but there was heavy smoke damage. many universities and airlines have banned hoverboards across the u-s due to the fire hazard posed by the transportation

iranians for intruding in their waters have issued an apology. iran detained, then released the 10 sailors after their boats strayed onto iranian waters. a statement from iran's revolutionary guard says the entry into their waters was not done on purpose. u-s authorities confirmed the 10 sailors were unharmed. the u-s central command says it's investigating the incident. the first lawsuit against malaysia airlines for the disappearance of m-h 370 has been filed in the u-s. the flight from kuala lumpur to beijing, carrying 239 passengers and crew, disappeared two years ago. most of the wreckage, aside from one piece of a wing, has not been found. the lawsuit was filed in federal court in washington by the sons of philip wood, who died in that crash. the attorney representing wood's sons said compensation offered on behalf of the airline was quote e ffensive." chipotle says its confident that its e-coli crisis is coming to an end. the ceo of the company says its executives met with officials from the centers

a portion of interstate 10 west was shut down as crews investigated the crash. deputies need help finding two people in a richland county kidnapping and armed robbery. investigators say the two forced a man walking down broad river road into a vehicle at gunpoint. they then drove to tyeu trail and bakersfield road, where they left the victim after they beat him and robbed him. the victim was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injures. call crimestoppers at 1- 888-crime-sc if you have information. we're following a developing case of apparent embezzlement by a saluda county town clerk sled reports that 63 year old ellen pamela long has been arrested. she used to be the town clerk in the town of ward. she's accused of stealing from the town, and from a community church. she's charged with embezzlement of public funds of more than ten thousand dollars and breach of public trust as well as forgery. all of the charges are felonies. if she's convicted, she could get up to 10 years in prison.

after an arrest by richland county's sheriff himself. quavion bing is charged with burglary and larceny after deputies say he stole electronics from a chartwell road apartment. sheriff leon lott said he saw the suspect running away and started chasing him, apprehending him at hunters ridge apartments. investigators linked bing to another burglary from late last year. the developer behind a big proposed project in west columbia is offering more particulars and may be winning some people over. last night, neighbors hosted the developer of the planned "brookland" project ahead of a crucial vote that could decide the project's future. the meeting was all about answering questions and clearing up bad rumors about the potential mixed-use development, just over the gervais street bridge, that would feature homes for sale and for rent, specialty stores, galleries, cafes and eateries, offices, and community spaces. the developer told the worried neighbors they won't build skyscrapers, unveiled sleek new renderings, addressed traffic flow, and talked about parking too. "parking is of upmost concern to us as well. if we don't park it right,

student debt forgiveness for new teachers who work 8 years in rural district. a mother is upset after she says her daughter was exposed to inappropriate material on a classmate's computer. her 9-year-old is in fourth grade in the richland two school district. the mom says another student showed her daughter graphic sexual images. she believes the school needs to have stronger internet filters. district officials say they do have filters but sometimes non- educational content can slip through. "these are 9-year-olds and 10-year-olds we're talking about. the risk factor for these children to come to school and possibly see something graphic or pornographic is not something i feel comfortable sending my daughter to school with that risk." biological father of a missing girl died. investigators say billie goodman is the biological father of erica parsons. last thursday, police found goodman's body at a house in kannapolis. investigators say goodman had a number of health problems. his daughter -- erica -- vanished several years ago and hasn't been seen. erica's adoptive parents casey and sandy parsons, were convicted of defrauding the government by continuing to accept adoption assistance long after erica disappeared. her biological father was never considered a suspect in her disappearance. american olympic champion skier picabo street has been charged with assault and domestic violence after authorities say she pushed her father down the stairs. police say the incident took place at a utah home in december. according to documents released wednesday, street told police she locked her 76-year-old father in the basement after pushing him and then called authorities. police say street's three children witnessed the event. street's attorney says she denies any wrongdoing in what she considers
