we're following breaking news in sumter. police are trying to track down the missing mother of two young children. investigators have been looking for 27-year-old shardae davis since a disturbance call at her home. officers say when they got to the scene on west liberty street they found a two-year-old and 5-week- old alone and unharmed. friends say it is highly unlikely davis would leave her children at home alone. officers say davis has a history with herbert butler, who investigators have not been able to find. butler is wanted for questioning in the disappearance. he also has a warrant against him for domestic violence. call crimestoppers at 1-888-crime-sc. tonight, we're following the latest out of in west africa where an upscale hotel in

capital that has been attacked by al-qaida linked militants has now caught fire. the fire started after commandos tried to free an unknown number of hostages using explosives to try and get inside. security forces stormed the building more than five hours after it was attacked by jihadists. right now, there is no clear number of how many people were injured or killed in the attack. three lexington county deputies are making their department proud. they took home medals of valor in a special ceremony last night. our chad mills tells us why. the south carolina sheriff's association awarded deputies from departments across the state, including richland, florence, and horry counties. but tonight, we're talking to

county who were honored in such a special way. these three lexington county deputies are sporting some new hardware around their necks -- medals of valor for courageous, live- saving acts. first, a crash last june on tram road earned deputy damon prater the distinction. "when we got out of our vehicles, we were checking to make sure everything was secure around the vehicle. then, the neighbors that were outside were saying, 'someone's in the car! someone's in the car!'" a driver had crashed into home. that driver was trapped inside car and it was on fire. "the way the flames were coming out is it wasn't just like a campfire fire, because it hit that gas line. it was actually kind of spewing. / at one point, when he was reaching his hand back, i managed to grab his hand, pull him from the vehicle, and secure him in the back of my patrol car." fast forward to the fourth of july. "i didn't get a call for

i was just in the right place at the right time." the place -- the lake murray dam. deputy scott zylstra had a driver pulled over but was interrupted. "as i was getting out of the patrol car, a lady came to me pretty upset stating there was a distressed swimmer. / all kind of things are going through your mind. what are you going to do? you know, i was thinking, 'get there, take your boots off, take your vest and gun, put it in the car, and go. grab everything and go!'" zylstra found a swimmer struggling to stay afloat. he used a buoy and rope, that he'd bought with his own money, to pull in the swimmer and another person trying to help. finally, this fall on orchard drive, deputy thomas smith got a call for a suicidal patient. "we were notified that the

on-scene. the female saw the ambulance, jumped in her car, and took off at a high-rate of speed." smith found her here on orchard. she had crashed, had a seizure, and passed out. she wasn't breathing and didn't have a pulse either. "i began cpr immediately. / in the process of chest compressions, i noticed that she was breathing. i checked again to make sure that her pulse was back, everyday, whether they're recognized or not. live in the newsroom, chad mills, wis news 10. a rainy end to the week, but the rain has moved out as we take a live look through

pedestrian. investigators say a man was hit by two cars while he was walking long garner ferry road. it is believed that he unlawfully stepped into the roadway and died as a result of his injuries. traffic investigators spoke to several witnesses at the scene. both drivers stopped after the collision and provided information to investigators. the richland county coroner's office is assisting cpd with the investigation. a somewhat controversial development in west columbia got a big endorsement today. the greater cayce-west columbia chamber of commerce announced its support of the planned mixed-use development project known as "brookland." if built, it would include homes for purchase and for rent, cafes, restaurants, and green spaces. the project has drawn critics who fear problems with parking and traffic. the west columbia city council will take one final vote on rezoning the land for the development next wednesday. america's largest retailer is closing hundreds of stores, including one in our

wal-mart announced its first ever mass closing today... with 269 stores worldwide closing their doors. 154-of those stores are in the united states including one store on u.s. highway 321 in winnsboro. approximately 10- thousand employees in the u.s. will be impacted by the closing. want to see the road near their homes closed down. vulcan materials is looking to shut down traffic on a sizeable section of stutman road. this comes as the company is working towards putting a rock quarry in the area. today residents took their battle to court trying to block vulcan's petition to close down stutman road. that proposal is tied to vulcan's permit applications with dhec and lexington county. today, attorneys for vulcan said closing down the road is the best option. a judge listened to all testimony today. he's expected to make a ruling at a later date. lawyers for the north charleston police officer caught on video shooting a man want papers in his case kept under wraps. michael slager is charged with murder. he and his lawyers are asking for documents in two of his bond hearings to be sealed so some of the information can be redacted. slager and his attorneys want the documents formally filed so the media and public can see them. but they want the

who wrote letters about slager's character to be removed to respect their privacy. right now, richland county deputies are asking for your help to find a person wanted for fraud. investigators say the suspect stole the victim's credit card information and used it to purchase gifts cards at the target and kohls on two notch road at the beginning of january. investigator think the suspect cloned another card using the victim's credit card information. if you have any information on who this person is, call crimestoppers at 1-888- crime-sc. two families are staying somewhere else tonight after an apartment fire in columbia. the american red cross is helping three adults and seven children after the fire impacted two apartments on dorrah street that's off north main street. the columbia fire department put the fire out. republican presidential contender ted cruz says he stands with south carolina companies like boeing against intrusion from federal regulators he calls "illegal." today, cruz joined with state attorney general

leadership project presidential forum. cruz said he has documented dozens of instances of the obama administration illegally overreaching its powers with executive orders on immigration or guns and unconstitutional regulations by agencies like the epa and the national labor relations board. wilson mentioned his own experiences fighting against nlrb pressure on boeing. "i think every american deserves a right to work without being forced to pay union dues, without being forced to join a union. if you want to join a union, that's fine, but that shouldn't be a condition of getting a job. and i think we are on firm ground standing and fighting for the american worker, fighting for your right to keep the money you earn in your paycheck instead of having uinon bosses use it to fund their political agendas and their power grabs." wilson has held leadership project forums with most of the presidential candidates and says

spoken with all of them. he's scheduled to hold another forum on monday with ben carson. today, south carolina senator lindsey graham announced in north charleston his endorsement for president. he's backing governor jeb bush. "i have concluded without any hesitation without any doubt that jeb bush is ready on day one to be a commander in chief worthy of the sacrifices of the one percent who have been fighting this war. last night, he said, "i will have their backs," i believe he will." the former florida governor thanked graham for his endorsement and praised him on his foreign policy experience. the senator explained that he thinks bush has the skills to get the world on board and working together. we want to remind you that three democratic hopefuls will be in the lowcountry this sunday. hillary clinton, bernie sanders, and martin o'malley will take the stage in downtown charleston for a democratic debate. you can catch that debate on wis at 9 o'clock sunday

he also has a warrant against him for domestic violence. anyone with information should call crimestoppers at 1-888-crime-sc. right now, the coast guard is searching for 12 missing marines after two military helicopters collided off the coast of hawaii. crews say two marine choppers were performing a routine night training flight when they went down off the coast. several civilians are the ones who contacted the coasted guard saying they say the crash. officials say poor weather conditions, including high winds and surf, have find the search hard in the seven mile debris field. "it wasn't a part of any operation. this was pre- planned and routine nighttime so, you know, the squadron is permanently based here, they know the course rules, everything from bellows and how to approach the runway. i mean, there's nothing that i've seen personally that was out of the ordinary." military aviation investigators are on scene and looking into what caused the collision.

about his meeting with notorious drug lord joaquin "el chapo" guzman. in an interview with charlie rose, penn discussed the meeting, the rolling stone article, and what penn hoped the outcome of the meeting would be. reporter april williams has more.
