since the removal of the confederate flag. with that accomplished, the state naacp says this year's march will highlight calls for more money y r education. hours ago, people marched to the state house steps through the streets of columbia. the march started at zion baptist church. that's where a special observance of dr. martin luther king jr.'s birthday took place this morning. members of the church say this year's service took on a different meaning than previous years. they recognized the event being held without the confederate battle flag flying in front of the state house. a few church goers say today's message was about passing it down to younger generations. "learning also to just accept and move on from where we started from. we have a long way to go but god is good. this was like the greatest experience in the world." "when we were growing up, things like this weren't possible but it's a nice crowd and i'm glad to see a lot of people here."

a drive by shooting and police pursuit in kershaw county. deputies arrested alan holloway and levi gibbs early sunday morning. the two are facing multiple charges including attempted murder. deputies say the duo shot into a home on bob-o-link road in lugoff saturday night. after the shooting an elgin officer spotted the suspect's vehicle, but when she tried to pull them over, they took off. the suspects were later found after crashing their vehicle near wildwood lane in elgin. they were taken to the hospital and are now in jail awaiting a bond hearing. the man and woman who were shot are expected to be okay. a driver dies in a crash while trying to elude deputies. it happened around 5 this morning in the pelion area of lexington county. highway patrol says the driver of a 1998 honda civic was trying to get away from lexington deputies when they ran off the left side of harvey berry road and hit a tree. troopers say that person was not wearing a seatbelt and died. a passenger was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. no word yet on why deputies

highway patrol is also investigating a fatal crash in sumter county. it happened early sunday morning on s-c 261, four miles north of pinewood. troopers say the driver of a nissan four door was traveling north on 261 when they lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and hit a tree. we're told the driver was wearing a seatbelt. that person's name has not been released. deputies in richland county are looking for leads after an armed robbery on two notch road. investigators say it happened around 11 last night at the video express store. deputies say the clerk gave the robber money from the register after that person showed a gun -- and was then shot after saying they could not access the safe. deputies say the employee also had a gun and shot at the suspect, possibly hitting them as they left on foot. if you can help investigators, call crimestoppers at 1-888- crime-sc. the iowa caucuses are two weeks from today and and last night, democratic presidential candidates faced off in their last debate of this pre-election season. tracie potts has a recap. :00-:02/ :10-:14/ :28-:31/

the owner of the jump center says stremmel was licensed, had performed more than 1,800 skydiving jumps in the past and jumps nearly every weekend. the franklin county sheriff and the f-a-a are investigating. florida governor rick scott toured tornado damage after storms ripped southwest part of the state early sunday morning. two people were killed and dozens of homes were destroyed as an e-f-2 tornado swept through manatee county. the national weather service says winds reached up to 127 miles-per-hour and caused destruction along a nine-mile stretch. check out this damage in cocoa beach, over on florida's east coast. the iconic "beach wave" surf shop sign is a mangled mess. the sign used to show a shark statue with a half-bitten surfboard in its mouth.. now, the sign has been destroyed but the shark remains intact... giving it a 'sharknado' appearance. the u-s postal service announces new rate hikes for some services. details on what soon will cost more and when the prices go up.

a satellite into orbit today.. but the rocket's return landing was a rough one. after launching the ocean-monitoring the rocket landed on a floating barge in but a support leg broke and it toppled over, bursting into flames. the explosion could be seen up close in an instagram video posted to instagram by spacex founder elon musk. in his post musk wrote the root cause of the failed landing may have been ice build up caused by heavy fog during lift off. an oregon state basketball player, upset with a call on the court, took it out on the referee. watch this.. a physical play at the basket between utah's jakob poeltl and oregon state's jarmal reid. reid was expecting a foul call on poeltl.. but didn't get it. still on the ground..
