coroner and highway patrol's accident investigative team will now assist cayce d-p-s as they work to learn more about what led to the crash. thanks to some surveillance video, an attempted murder suspect is behind bars this afternoon. justin jenkins was arrested just before 6 this morning. richland county deputies say on sunday jenkins walked into the video express on two notch road, pointing a gun and demanding money. investigators say jenkins then climbed over the counter and stole cash from the register and shot the employee while stealing more money and the victim's cell phone. he was taken to alvin s. glenn detention center and is also being charged with strong armed robbery. six people are facing charges related to human trafficking across four midlands counties. the suspects are all under the age of 25 and face charges ranging from trafficking and criminal sexual conduct with a minor, to conspiracy to commit trafficking. richland county sheriff leon lott and south carolina attorney general alan

arrests are the result of a state grand jury investigation. they say this is the first set of state grand jury indictments for human trafficking across county lines. this afternoon, some folks in forest acres are under a boil water advisory. it's in efffect for people along trenholm road from lakeview circle to forest drive. it also includes businesses in the trenholm plaza shopping center. utility crews are working to repair a water main break in that area. you should boil your water for a full minute before drinking or cooking with it until further notice. a south carolina hospital is shutting its doors. southern palmetto hospital in barnwell ends its patient services today. the c-e-o of the facility says the hospital has lost 2-point-5 million dollars due to a lack of patients and unpaid medical bills. the hospital has been in barnwell for 6 decades. a major new development project in west columbia received a green light from city officials. west columbia city council

last night to rezone the area near state and meeting streets to be developed into commercial real estate. the project, known as brookland, would include shops, restaurants and 235 new apartment units. several steps still need to be cleared before ground can be broken. after her state of the state address last night, we now have a better idea of what governor nikki haley wants to get accomplished in the new year. one main focus was ethics reform. haley says two main priorities haven't changed -- requiring public officials to disclose who pays them and having independent investigators oversee legislators. she says the house has passed both repeatedly, but the senate has refused to vote. so the governor did something some considered a little unconventional. nikki haley: "i'm going to ask for every senator that is for income disclosures to please stand. ohohohohhhh. i'm going to ask you to continue to stand if you are for true independent investigations -- please stand. clapping.

think we finally got to see what that vote might look like." the governor says when it comes to schools -- they will no longer pass a child out of the third grade if they cannot read. in referencing higher education she says that's not our greatest need... instead she proposed to pass legislation permanently dedicating up to one percent of our state's bond capacity to k through 12 education facilities -- which will be determined through a priority-based process. after the governor's speech- lawmakers were specifically able to react to her call to ask senators to stand if they were for income disclosures and true independent investigations when it comes to ethics reform legislation. here's what they had to say: "we were a little bit disappointed that as she talked about bringing everybody together, she did ask the senate to stand up if they supported something that she did without
