latest. there's still a pretty nice dusting of snow throughout the whitmire area. there's some ice too, but so far, things are going pretty smoothly here in newberry county. this was at about 5 o'clock or so, but people here in whitmire tell me the snow started a few hours before that around 1 o'clock and they tell me it came down pretty heavily. roads in and around whitmire are pretty slick. sheriff lee foster tells me his deputies are monitoring some problem bridges near the fairfrfld

so far, the sheriff says there have been a couple ice-related accidents, but they've been minor. s-c-d-o-t workers are hard at work too. they've been treating i-26 with a salt brine most recently. they've also treated some state roads with salt sand, including sc-121, sc-34, and sc-56. they haven't been able to treat secondary roads, because, of course, d-o- t's biggest priority is the interstate and primary roads. people here in whitmire tell me this town seems to always get snow before other areas of the county because of its geography and that's not a bad thing
11:04 pm
"actually, no, it doesn't get old. i mean, we don't get it often, but it's like whitmire is a little magic spot in the county. we always get a little different weather than, you know, what newberry forecasts or, you know, mid-carolina. it's just like whitmire's a little magic spot up here." now, as far as trees go, d-o-t had no reports of fallen trees onto roadways. for now, the precipitation has stopped, but more is likely on the way. just standing here over the past few hours, i've seen multiple d-o-t trucks, newberry deputies, and whitmire police too so first responders seem to be on top of things. live in whitmire, chad mills, wis news 10. tonight ... washington, dc, is in the bulls
