cruz says his victory shows the power of his supporters against what he portrayed as an array of establishment forces. cruz defeated donald trump after consistently trailing the billionaire businessman in iowa polling as the campaign wound to a close. he expanded his campaign in iowa and visited all 99 counties in the state. senator marco rubio thanked his supporters for his stronger than expected showing in the iowa caucuses. the florida senator outperformed most of the recent polling data. with a majority of caucus precincts reporting results, rubio came in third, close behind donald trump in second, and ted cruz in first. "tonight, here in iowa, the people of this great state have sent a very clear message. after seven years of barack obama, we are not waiting any longer to take our country back." recent polls have showed donald trump with a big lead in new hampshire...

columbia police want to talk to this man who was caught on surveillance video. investigators say he is a sexual assault case. police say a woman reported being sexually assaulted by a man saturday morning in the 800 block of barnwell street-- in between the usc campus and five points. police have not named the man as a suspect-- but are asking ananone that can identify him to call crime-sc. a candlelight vigil will be held today for a 19-year- old woman killed by her ex-boyfriend. a vigil for deanndra roach will be held tonight at the vive church on clemson road from 4 to 7 p-m. investigators say roach was shot and killed by andre heatley, jr. sometime thursday night or early friday morning. her body was discovered late friday afternoon. deputies say it was the roach's stolen debit card that ultimately led them to heatley. deputies in fairfield county have arrested a man charged with animal abuse. 48-year-old billy ray huskey is

helping inmates escape a california jail is now free this morning. 44 year old noo-sha-farin ravaghi was released from prison overnight after charges against her. the iranian-born english teacher who worked at the jail was suspected of helping one of three escaped inmates. investigators alleged she provided the inmates with a google earth map that showed an aerial view of the jail complex.

evidence and arguments over the legality of north carolina's photo i-d requirement for voters.. attorneys for the state who defended the law and lawyers for the u.s. department of justice and ate naacp, which challenged it, made closing statements monday after the six-day trial ended. there are questions about whether the law would be a road block for minority voters. it is supposed to take effect in time for the march 15 primary. a ruling is at least several weeks away. the national transportation safety board has released its report on last year's deadly amtrak train derailment in philadelphia. it says the train was going more than twice the 50- mile-per-hour speed limit as it entered a curve back in may. the ntsb says there is no evidence that engineer brandon bostian was texting before the crash and there was not a problem with the train tracks. the ntsb will hold a hearing in april to announce a preliminary cause of the derailment. teenagers have been charged in the shooting at a seattle homeless camp last week that left two people dead and three others injured.
