good evening and thanks for watching. i'm judi gatson. i'm charles molineaux. tonight--richland county deputies are investigating a shooting in lower richland that sent one man to the hospital. investigators say it happened in the green lakes subdivision--in hopkins. our chad mills is there live on the scene...he joins us now with the latest on the investigation. i'm here in the green lakes subdivision off leesburg road in hopkins. investigators have been focusing their efforts on this white honda civic behind me. it's dark, but you should be able to see it. all four doors are open, the back windshield is shattered, and there's a large

street, likely for evidence. the richland county sheriff's department says it got a "shots fired" call around 8 o'clock tonight. when they got here they found a shooting victim who was the passenger inside the white honda. all r-c-s-d is telling us for now is that the victim's wounds were to his upper body, he was transported to palmetto health richland, and his condition is unknown for now. at one point, an investigator took a young man into his patrol for an interview. neighbors tell me they believe that young man may have been the driver. but at this point that's not confirmed. neighbors also tell me that multiple gunshots were heard in the eastern portion of this neighborhood, but neighbors around the crime scene hadn't heard any, so the thinking from

police say investigators were able to trace a weapon used in an unrelated case by the suspect, ibin patterson, to gentry's murder. investigators say the connection was made as part of a collaborative effort between multiple agencies. a man is facing charges tonight in connection with the murder of a midlands motorcyclist. last month, investigators found adrian silva, who they say was shot multiple times while riding his motorcycle on long green parkway in columbia. today, the sheriff's department says vincent may is charged with obstruction of justice in the case. may was given a 25 thousand dollar surety bond he's also been ordered not to have contact with the victim's family and must wear a gps monitoring device. the leader of the legendary band "earth wind and fire" has died. the brother of maurice white made the announcement today that white died in his sleep last night. white founded "earth wind and fire" in the late 60's.

and the fans feel like they faced two opponents on the court. sports director rick henry has more on another huge win for gamecocks women's basketball over another ranked opponent. there were some nervous moments for the gamecocks and their fans tonight as they took on a very tough kentucky team. first half...very scary moment here as the two time sec player of the year...tiffany mitchell goes down hard. after looking at the replay....you expect this to be a serious injury. she was able to walk off the court. but did not return to the game. coach dawn staley says mitchell has a lower babak bruise. her teammates step up in a big way....look at this shot by khadijah sessions to close out the third quarter.....a three pointer from well beyond half court.

inside the state house today--tempers flared on the floor of the senate as lawmakers traded jabs over the inability to pass a roads bill. "y'all are wasting my time!" some senators vented their frustration with the fact that there has been little progress on a bill--one month into the 2016 session. senate majority leader harvey peeler said today it's time that senators debated the bill on the chamber floor. governor nikki haley has pledged to veto any legislation that increases gas taxes without cutting income taxes...as well as

department of transportation meanwhile, another bill in the state house could make it more likely we get to see police incidents captured by dashboard cameras. senator larry martin is pushing a bill that would require a judge's permission for law enforcement t encies "not" to release dashcam video to the public. martin says it would instill more confidence in police decisions. the bill would prevent police from indefinitely blocking the public's ability to see dascham video--unless a judge agrees that releasing the video would cause harm. 8 months after the charleston church shootings, two survivors say they have gained faith, even as they haveveost so much. in an exclusive interview, they explain a brave sacrifice that happened the night 9 people were killed. felicia sanders and polly sheppard sat down with our billie jean shaw as they reflect on the heart- rending night of june 17th. we all remember that horrific night and we all remember how we felt when learning -nine people were murdered during a bible study at mother emanuel ame church. and while the victims were quickly tagged as the "emanuel 9" there were 12 people in bible study that night. now two of them, felicia sanders and polly sheppard are sharing their stories. the story of the emanuel 12. while this was a difficult interview they wanted to shed some light on the importance of faith and forgiveness. 232 days later- felecia sanders says it still feels like yesterday. "i go through june 17th all day, all night. i think about what i could've done differently, what could we

anything." it was on that night at mother emanuel- sanders, her 11-year-old granddaughter and polly sheppard witnessed nine murders. "77 shots. it actually sounded like a transformer blew, but then she yelled and that's when i took cover." "i kept praying under the table, the lord kept me calm." "after i heard the shots, i thought he would've shot and run out, i i dn't know it would've kept on going." behind the trigger authorities say was 21- year-old dylann roof. motivated by hate and racism, prosecutors say roof was on a mission to start a race war. "we were so nice to him, we were so nice to him "i don't know what i was expecting, i was just waiting on my turn." on that night, these nine people lost their lives,
