deputies were dispatched after learning gilmore was wanted for 2 counts of attempted murder. after being discharged from the hospital, gilmore reportedly ran away from deputies while handcuffed. after more than 12 hours, gilmore was caught around 2 o'clock this afternoon on monticello road -- still in handcuffs. deputies say gilmore is wanted in connection with a shooting two weeks ago where two other teenagers were hurt. it happened at a party on foxhunt road in northeast columbia. investigators say, a man out on bond for a weapons violation is back in jail, for a shooting. 35-year-old antoine irick has been charged with attempted murder. richland county deputies say irick shot a man several times in the lower body. it happened saturday afternoon on brookmont lane . the victim is expected to be o-k. it's an ongoing issue in batesburg-leesville that's been talked about for years. an old cemetery -- home to many beloved midlands veterans -- is in constant need of care. volunteers stepped up again last fall to clean up the overgrown burial ground.

-- the issue is finding a permanent fix to keep it maintained. "it made me feel very good. cause i've been wanting it to happen." not far from corine johnson's back door --- are images of heartbreak. "the overgrowth had been there for years." overgrown by the earth.. dozens of graves -- some belonging to veterans of the first and second world wars -- now lying in disarray. the graves used to sit beside olive branch baptist church --- before it burned down and was relocated decades ago. "it made me feel bad...for the ones that were buried out there a lot of their relatives had left." time and time again.. the woods have overtaken this hallowed ground. but periodically, kindness comes through to clean it up. "we all pulled together to get

most recently last memorial day... volunteers from across south carolina stepped up. "i think they need respect." clearing the lot of trees and debris.... -- and tending to the graves. developed a drug that -- when given to mice -- increases their lifespans by up to 35 percent...while reducing age-related illnesses. their goal -- to eventually have a drug that will be suitable for humans. chris yu has more. they've been living longer and looking healthier thanks to a new drug developed at the mayo clinic "it was a very labor- intensive and stressful project. but i'm glad it worked out." dr. jan van deursen and his team have been studying mice for years, and learned that by removing damaged cells that no longer divide they increased the life span of the mice by 17 to 35 percent. removing those cells also made the mice's organs healthier. "we see a health improvement in a number of tissues. we think a very important tissue is the heart. it seems like the heart was able to maintain its youthful performance so it's very stress resistant." so how do dr.

remove those damaged cells from mice? they inject a drug into the animals. and they say the drug seems to have no negative side effects. "within six months of treatment, we did see these health improvements in the heart and kidney." dr. van deursen hopes with these new findings researchers can eventually develop a drug that will do the same for humans with the potential of treating heart attacks... c-o-p-d... and many more. "removing senescent cells may also have an important anti-cancer effect." so how long before clinical trials for humans? dr. van deursen says they could only be a few years away. for more on super bowl 50 in the wis alert center this morning... north carolina governor pat mccory is said to be doing okay after he was involved in a wreck in california last night. the crash happened last night in san jose, not far from where the super bowl was played in santa clara. according to the california highway patrol, the governor's vehicle was rear-ended by a mercedes. officials say mccrory complained "of minor pain"... but continued to his destination. mccrory released a statement on the accident, saying "we were very fortunate, and while i am still proud of the carolina panthers, this puts the game in proper perspective. i want to thank the california highway patrol and ems for their professionalism and quick action." an attempted murder suspect who was on the run from law enforcement is back in police custody. richland county deputies say 17 year old tony gilmore was taken to the hospital by columbia

deputies came to the hospital after learning he was wanted for 2 counts of attempted murder. when he was discharged, gilmore reportedly ran away from deputies while in handcuffs. he was caught around 2 o'clock sunday on monticello road -- still in handcuffs. gilmore was wanted in connection to a shooting two weeks ago where two other teenagers were hurt in northeast columbia. some 600 south carolinians will now be eligible to get their high school diplomas without having to retake the ged test. the south carolina education department says the ged testing service has lowered the passing score from 150 to 145. that means people who took the test since january of 2014 and didn't pass under the old scoring system have now passed. over the past 40 years, 220-thousand south carolinians have earned their high school diploma through the ged testing program. the gamecock women's basketball team will be in the national spotlight tonight. the second-ranked usc women will host number one connecticut. our michal higdon is live at colonial life arena ahead of this big matchup --
