new york saw a significant drop last year in the number of people without health insurance. all but florida have accepted a medicaid expansion that's one of two major pathways to coverage under obamacare. the other coverage route is subsidized private insurance, available in all 50 states. overall, the nation's uninsured rate dropped to 9.1 percent in 2015. new reports out say 2015 saw a record-setting number of shark attacks worldwide. 98 attacks have been reported- 30 of them in florida and eight in each of the carolinas. the u-s leads the world with 59 attacks. scientists say the previous record was 88 attacks back in 2000. the number of attacks are expected to increase as human populations grow. six deaths were reported worldwide from the shark attacks. the trouble continues for cleveland browns quarterback johnny manziel, who faces allegations of domestic violence. manziel's ex-girlfriend now alleges manziel hit her so hard that she lost hearing in one ear. colleen crowley says manziel dragged her into a car last month after she tried

palmetto health wants to build a specialized playground for kids that will benefit their learning and development during their stay at children's hospital. it would help children -- like eli adams -- who was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of leukemia back in march of 2015. before being diagnosed, eli's mom, robyn, tells me he was an extremely active 10-year-old boy. he loved sports, especially baseball, basketball, and kickball. once he was diagnosed with cancer, he was forced to slow his movement -- but still found ways to play during his stay at the hospital for two and a half months. robyn says having a playground at the hospital would have been amazing -- especially for kids like eli. "where did you spend all your time, doing what?" "playing."

north carolina state attorneys have asked a federal court to delay its order directing legislators draw new congressional districts. a panel of judges previously found two of the districts unconstitutional because state lawmakers relied too much on race in drawing them in 2011. they said new boundaries were needed by february 19th -- otherwise no congressional elections could occur. the state is asking for the delay because they say the march 15th primary is already under way, and the state legislature isn't in session right now. a new government report this morning on health insurance shows eight states saw a significant drop in the number of people who were uninsured last year. 7 of those states are among the more than 20 nationwide that have accepted a medicaid expansion that was part of obamacare. other states are still considering or have decided not to accept the expansion. the other coverage route is subsidized private insurance, available in all 50 states. overall, the nation's uninsured rate dropped to 9.1 percent in 2015.
