volunteers are already hard at work. our chad mills talked to a number of them tonight. you can tell we're getting closer to the two primaries. the campaign offices are loud -- and they're packed too. many of those offices are open twelve hours a day -- and making thousands of phone calls a day too. in the chilling wind and even a bit of snow... ...south carolina supporters of donald trump waved signs for their candidate before going inside to work the phones. "we're really in a crunch- time now. we're excited to see all of the support, and we're excited for the primary coming up just in eleven days." even with trump still leading in the polls for south carolina's first in the south primary, these volunteers aren't letting up. "we're doing everything and anything we can. we phonebank all day long. we go to all the events, and we do whatever we can to get everyone's support." then, there's this rv which the campaign plans

counties. on the other side of the aisle, volunteers for hillary clinton are ramping up efforts ahead of the democratic primary on the 27th. "it's super crazy with the people doing different things. we have more phones to call, more doors to knock, and it's very hectic right now." the campaign says it's been here since last april, has built a grassroots infrastructure of thousands of volunteers, and now has a dozen "get out the vote" offices across the palmetto state, including this one in columbia. "i think that our job is important, because we're out, and we're closest to the community, and we're the people who are kind of being hillary's voice, because she can't speak to everyone." across town on gervais street, the ted cruz campaign is also depending on thousands of volunteers to get out the vote in the republican primary. "we have almost 10,000 volunteers.

right now in one of our midlands headquarters. we have one here and then one over on calhoun street. we usually have about 10 to 20 folks in here at any given time, and this office usually makes about 5,000 volunteer phone calls a day." now that new hampshire is just about in the rear- view mirror, activity is picking up in this office. volunteers are hoping to help close the gap between trump and cruz in the palmetto state. nearby on huger street, jeb bush's campaign office is chock-full of volunteers too. south carolina's primary will be critical to bush. he and his allies have spent millions on ads in the state. "it's looking awesome. i know a lot of us are here every single day showing our support and just trying to get the word out about him as much as possible. we're doing door knocks all around the columbia area." of course, some of the republicans are already on their ways to the palmetto state. trump will be at clemson tomorrow. meanwhile, kasich, who finished second tonight,

today, the u.s. supreme court blocked epa rules which would have limited power plants to fight global warming. critics have said the plans would mean dramatically higher electric bills and a coalition of 27states and industry groups sued to stop the plan. they called it an "unprecedented power grab" by a federal agency. the court ruled the plan cannot go forward until the legal challenges are hammered out in court. south carolina department of transportation director christy hall is warning lawmakers to start putting money into repairing roads soon...or face higher costs later on. hall spoke to the senate finance committee today. panel chairman hugh leatherman says he wants senators to have as much information as possible before discussion begins on the senate floor about getting more money to the state's highways.

roads debate reaching the senate floor. the director of south carolina's department of public safety appears to be headed to another four years at the helm. today, the senate judiciary committee voted unanimously to advance leroy smith's smith took command in november of 2011 of the agency that oversees the highway patrol, police, and the bureau of protective services. the senate is expected next week to confirm a second term for smith. coming up--we're taking a closer look at tonight's races in new hampshire. we have political experts in studio to break down what's next for the republicans and democrats as their campaigns move forward. taking a closer lookokow at the

"i have battles every day. i cry every day. you know, i have to look at my son on an obituary. i look in the cell phone on some pictures or something like that. crying. it's torture." najeer would have turned 15 this upcoming monday. if you have any information on this shooting call crimestoppers at 1-888- crime-sc. tonight, the court-martial of sergeant bowe bergdahl is officially on hold. a judge has issued a "stay of proceedings." the judge is waiting on an appeals court to make a decision about whether classified evidence should be shared with berdahl's defense team. bergdahl is accused of deserting his post--after his capture outside a military base in afghanistan in 2009.

time would be inappropriate--given his five years in captivity and the torture they say he endured. the wife of the late senator clementa pinckney is speaking out about life after the tragedy in charleston that killed her husband and eight others. today, jennifer pinckey spoke at duke university she, along with two other church pastors, talked about race and gun control among other topics. ahead of the event, jennifer also spoke about forgiveness in the wake of the shooting at mother emanuel ame church. "clementa invited a stranger in you know he didn't see color and even though this violent act happened, i think we all have to put god first." tonight's event was called "reflections on charleston." the confessed church killer, dylann roof, is awaiting a trial that's expected to start this

last night...the first in the history of the program. fans started lining up hours before the 2nd ranked gamecocks tipped off against top ranked connecticut. the uconn coaches and players were impressed by the passion and energy of the carolina fans. the huskies weren't fazed by the atmosphere as they beat usc 66 to 54. afterwards...both head coaches gave the fans big props. geno:we couldn't get into the damn arena today. people lined up from here to atlanta seemed like....we couldn't get in. guys wouldn't get out of the way. cars wouldn't move.we would show them it was the bus...they didn't care. it was amazing out there. i've never seen anything like it. dawn: they were disciplined tonight. we weren't. they were disciplined. they came, they did . they were loud..they tried to put their energy into our team and we disappointed them..but hopefully..they're not fair weather fans. they're going to be there tomorrow...they're going
