at airport high school...afr they were forced out by smoke this morning. a news conference just wrapped up a a ort time ago. our mike desumma is at airport with the latest. mike. airport high school was evacuated and students were dismissed early because of a fire wednesday morning. assistant lexington school 2 district superintendent jim hinton tells wis there were electrical problems with a rooftop hvac unit on the vocational wing and began it to smoke, filling the wing. smoke was isolated to the wing. the evacuation went smoothly, but, hinton said, "it's cold outside!" and most students didn't have coats with them. the district took students to the nearby fulmer middle school gym. hinton said originally school administrators hoped to have students back in school by noon, but firefighters wanted to thoroughly check the building. school building would be ready for students to be admitted, so school is dismissing early. hinton said parents can pick up fulmer middle school. emergency crews have the roads blocked in front of airport high, so parents

doctors say they see an increase in patients coming down with the flu. our michal higdon did some digging on how this flu season is comparing to years past. the good news -- so far this season is stacking up to be pretty mild -- especially compared to what we saw last year. the latest data from the south carolina department of health and environmental control shows there were 500 laboratory-confirmed cases for the week ending january 30th of this year. that's compared to the more than 3-thousand cases we saw this years. you can see by the numbers on your screen, last flu season was the worst we've seen in a while with more year, the flu vaccine wasn't the best match to the strains we were seeing -- which could be the difference compared to this year. teresa foo: "so the good news this year is that the flu vaccine is actually a good influenza b. the vaccine is actually a good match this year. so hopefully all of those people who got vaccinated -- maybe the symptoms will include fever, cough, sore throat and muscle doctor, stay at home because it
