meet and greet in seneca. this is a live look at that event at the seneca family restaurant on by pass 123. tonight, cruz will hold a rally in spartanburg at oakbrook preparatory school. that's at 6. ben carson is making several appearances around the midlands today. his day began with a stop at cromer's peanuts in columbia. the republican spoke with entrepreneurs and discussed start-up companies. carson also spoke about what he has to do to earn the support of south carolina voters, including evangelicals. "i'm not going to change who i am. if they resonate with somebody who has the3 kind of values that are very consistent with the evangelical mission, i'm here. if they prefer something more boisterous and something that doesn't fit into the traditional definition of evangelicals, that's up to them." carson has another appearance that's set to get underway shortly. at 12:30, he'll hold a meet and greet at the grille on

"but i'm asking you to vote for me because i'm as conservative as anyone in this race. and i have a 15 year record to prove it. but i'm also the one who can unify this party if we don't come together. we can't win. and of all the people left in this race, i am the one who can not just the party, but the movement." rubio will also be in chapin for a town hall at

rubio will take the stage with both ted cruz and ben carson tonight in a town hall hosted by cnn in it will be broadcast live at 8pm and will be cooper. meanwhile in the lowcountry john kasich is talking to voters in bluffton. this is a live look at a rally at the bluffton kasich is seeing some growing crowds here in south carolina after his second place finish in new hampshire. last night, kasich was in cayce for a town hall. at the event he pledged to keep his campaign positive, while selling his ideas to the audience. "we cannot wait or think that some president is hoping to come riding into south carolina on a white horse and solve our problems." the g-o-p frontrunner just wrapped up an event in bluffton. bluffton.

tonight trump will head to the midlands. he'll be at the sumter county civic center at seven. after that trump will head down to charleston. he is the only candidate confirmed for an msnbc town hall. that starts at 8 o'clock. trump is expected to take questions from voters. the final republican candidate, jeb bush, just beaufort. he is trying to keep the focus on the issues after a social media post raised a few eyebrows. the former florida governor was in columbia yesterday when he tweeted a photo of a handgun engraved with a personalized insignia that jeb bush." the tweet simply said "america." it went viral online -- with that led bush to speak up and explain himself. presidential candidate "the purpose was we went to a gun manufacturing facility where lots of jobs are created, high wage jobs and received a gun and i was honored to have it." the picture was reportedly posted after bush visited the f-n company. he says the tweet was a nod to his appearance there and his attempt to win over south carolina 2nd

a major voice in the republican party in the palmetto state, governor nikki haley, says she isn't ready to endorse a candidate. governor haley said if she endorses a candidate, she would not be endorsing donald trump. she says governors want a president who will work with and fight for them-- not bash them. that came after trump said haley isn't fighting the government hard enough on syrian refugees and guantanamo detainees. haley calld trump's comments "obama-like." we are tracking all the presidential candidates as they make their way across our state today. we have everything you need to know to prepare for the primaries at wistv.com. in just a few hours, a camden man charged with shooting and killing a 17 year old he says was stealing from his truck will be in bond court. jimmy methe is charged with voluntary manslaughter. methe told police saturday morning he saw 17 year old brandon spencer and another unnamed person breaking into his he then shot at them, killing spencer. investigators say because they

he fired, it did not qualify as self defense under state law. that hearing is at two. kershaw county deputies say an undercover operation led to the arrest of a man who has a lengthy criminal history involving drugs. deputies say this is the third time raymond jones, jr. has been arrested on drug-related charges- and this time they found him with 15 pounds of marijuana...along with crack cocaine and a handgun. investigators say they received tips jones had been dealing drugs in the county over the past year. in addition to facing drug charges, jones is also charged with resisting arrest and driving under suspension. inside the state house... today senators are diving into a big debate on roads. senators started meeting two hours early today-- and that debate could last well into the evening hours. the proposal getting the most attention would raise the gas tax by 12 cents a gallon over three years and increase or add a number of other fees. senators are also working to honor the victims of the

the senate judiciary committee has unanimously approved a resolution declaring june 17th as "mother emanuel nine day" the resolution encourages south carolinians to reflect on race relations on the one- year anniversary of the shooting in charleston that killed nine people. it was approved by the house last month. a celebration for a major milestone for a big company in south carolina. hundreds gathered as the 100th 787 dreamliner built at boeing's north charleston facility rolled out for delivery to american airlines. the dreamliner is used for long overseas. the plane has tall ceilings and bigger windows than most planes. storage space for luggage. boeing has also made a big donation to help restore a historic building at allen university in columbia. the company gave the university 100-thousand dollars to help pay for the chappelle auditorium. it's a site of historic speeches by dr. martin luther king, jr. and muhammad ali. boeing made the donation in honor of the late reverend clementa pinckney -- he

one leaders are coming together today to stress the importance of reading readiness in the classroom. it's part of the "together we can read" initiative. our michal higdon has more on the group the program is targeting. today's kickoff is the 8th year that the city and richland one have partnered to show 3rd graders, the importance of reading and literacy for success. the idea behind "together we can read" is to engage students and connect them with community leaders who read to each classroom. i spoke with ida thompson with richland school district one. she says the program specifically targets 3rd graders who are at the pivotal age where adequate reading skills must be obtained before they are moved on to higher grades. it's a reason state legislators passed the "read to succeed" bill a couple of years ago. beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, if a child can't
